In other words, your outrage is laughable.

Dude... get a grip. There is no such thing as a furry race in SL or RL. There is no such thing as Furriod.

The above quote also does not define "Furry Fandom" as a race, but more instead of a choice to feel a certain way towards a certain thing.

    My sentiments exactly.

My biggest objection to your argument is that you belittle the real use of the word. Racism is alive and well on planet earth unfortunately, and we do need to deal with that. But your argument makes a mockery of the word.

I'd like to know if we'd ever be able to change our First and Last names that we originally signed up with... I registered under the old First and Last Name format... but my last name has changed since then.

You will be able to change your first and last name, for a fee, but you will only be able to pick last names from a list provided. So, no, you cannot just pick whatever last name you desire.

Cant say the same about human avatars. Most of humans avatars just a walking balloons of boobs or asses, abominations what look like a Frankenstein's creature never look like.

You sound a bit racist against humans.

Oh yes, if there aren't enough occupied houses in a Linden Homes sim to cover the cost, I'm sure LL will know what to do. I don't believe that many people will move, althugh I'm sure some will. That's not only because of the Rip van Winkles, many people who do use their SL homes have spent a lot of time and effort decorating and presonalising them and will be reluctant to give up what they have and start anew somewhere else.

I'm so excited about the new Linden homes I'm having a hard time sitting still in my seat. I am going to sell land so I will have the extra 512 to add to my tier so I can give up my 512 Linden home (I use as a workshop) and get the larger new improved model. In fact, if they look as good as what Patch has been showing us, I may use my mainland for my store and workshop and move into the Linden home full time as my SL residence. So yes, I have a hard time believing anyone will want to stay in those antiquated models. But that's my prejudice and I admit it freely. :)

  6. I guess I've never really considered the continent with Linden Homes to be real mainland. You can't buy it, you can't sell it. Seems like when upgrading to new homes it would be logical to get rid of the old neighborhood. But I'll just wait to see what they do. I really dislike all the abandoned land we already have on the mainland, and the idea of having thousands of 512 Linden homes setting vacant just to accommodate a few ... what did Chic call them? Rip Van Winkles? seems such a waste.

To be clear I'm not talking about force moving from the mainland. I'm suggesting removing the continent where the current 512 Linden homes are located.

I speculate too much perhaps. :P

I probably shouldn't post two different replies to the same quote but I got curious about the other side of this: In what way do the Linden Homes hold up progress? There's plenty of room for new sims elsewhere so it's not as if they're in the way for anything and nobody's forced to live there or visit there. As for money, if they hadn't brought LL a net income, they would have taken them down long ago.

I don't see the need to add a lot of "basically abandoned mainland" to the grid. Once the new Linden homes become available I'm guessing that the vast .. huge .. majority of the people are going to want to move to the new much improved homes. So what is to gain by leaving a lot of abandoned land on the grid?

*ponders how to open a sim*

Open up like a tauntaun so you can crawl inside?  I'm concerned with how much code might spill out.  I'm afraid it's pretty boring in a sim.

BRB, I have some regions to be in.

Dangit!! and I've been so good in remembering to say region .. but dangit you got me excited and I forgot!!

Because they are the ones who pay LL's bills. We're not talking about pocket money here, it's a huge part of LL's income. It's quite possible that LL makes more money from the SL Rip van Winkles than they make from active users.

There's nothing unusual about this, it happens to all subscription services. Some forget to cancel the recurring bill, some intend to use the services they pay for but never get around to it, some do get around to it every now and then and are willing to pay for those short moments, some do it for old times' sake, some have this vague feeling it's for a good cause...

The one thing they all have in common is that they will only stay as long as it takes them no effort whatsoever. The oment you require them to do something to stay - such as move their home to a different sim - they're gone.

But they aren't using it. Why would they want to keep a 512 with an old, not so attractive house on it? Surely they will want one of the new 1024s with the new homes on the much more attractive continent. They will still have their premium account. They will still be getting their weekly stipend.

I seriously think you are over emphasizing just how many of those are out there in Linden homes. I do see a lot of them in mainland but not so much in Linden homes. However, I think most of those with mainland parcels are those who bought the one time fee tier offerings way back from beta. Those won't be impacted at all.

  10. Just now, Selene Gregoire said:

When did LL remove the requirement that you must log in once a week to get the stipend? Or is that now just basic accounts that must log in once a week?

When I had 5 premiums, I only logged in the bonus three (never used them) once or twice a year just to cash out so I could pay for the next year. I always got the stipend.

Because those inactive users are still paying. Evict them and you will have a revolt.

  12. There are 5 green dots in SSP currently. I seem to remember Ebbe saying something about partial releases .. or wording suggesting that as I don't remember his exact words. But with what Ebbe said and Patch's trick or trick comment ... gosh .. I know maybe I'm just expecting too much .. but dangit .... maybe a few sims open for Halloween just so we can see what's going on...... Please!!!!

Honestly, the music is a bit.

I need help in that area!  Finding a club with people in it with more diversified music.

I want to hear more vintage stuff...psychedelic...great organ...fabulous guitar...and I don't want to IM the dj all of the time.  If the music were good, I'd tip anyway instead of leave.   lol

I'm a fan of the live music scene in SL, but I base where I go on the performer and not the club. I have a list of my favorite performers and I follow their schedule. This way I know I'm going to like the music and I know there's a pretty good group of people who follow that performer as well. In time you get to know each other in the group.

That's not going to happen because of the Rip van Winkles. A significant proportion of land in SL is owned/rented by people who are no longer active users. They are not ging to move under any circumstance, once their home sim is gone, they are too.

Any rental estate that has been around for a few years will have a substantial number of Rip van Winkles among its tenants. Even I have that and I have only been active in the rental market for three or four years. There is very good reason to believe there is a larger proportion of Rip van Winkles among mainland landowners than among tenants and an even larger proportion among Linden Home owners than among landowners in general. It's fairly safe to assume that more than half the Linden Homes are owned by inactive account and it may be more than three quarters of them. That means that even if not a single active user were interested in the Linden Homes, they would still generate enough net revenue LL couldn't afford to clsoe them.

I get what you are saying, but I don't understand why LL would hold up progress for those who are no longer active in SL. Bulldoze the land and when or if the person comes back they are welcome to get a new Linden home in the newly developed area. Seems pretty simple to me.

I do worry that the introduction of another 350 regions of new and larger Linden Homes could reverse this, though.

This is why I hope they will evacuate the current Linden Homes continents and delete them once the new Linden Home regions are introduced.

I'm hoping this will help some others, after many failed log-in attempts, I uninstalled my usual viewer (Singularity), deleted all setup files, rebooted, and then re-downloaded and did a fresh install and am now able to log in.  I also tried the same thing with Firestorm viewer and was able to log in.

I seriously doubt all that extra work you went through had anything to do with you finally being able to log in.

Was wondering when will the auction be available?  Each time I check there is nothing.  Trying to find some abandon land

If it's abandoned land you're after, you simply submit a ticket requesting the land. So find the abandoned parcel of land you're interesting in and create a slurl for it to include in the ticket information. If you only want a portion of the parcel be sure to include that information as well. Typically a Linden will set that parcel for sale to you for 1L a sqm. I say typically because if the land you're interested in is premium land, like double prim land, then it's not likely they will sell that to you.

I still think if they give me a house, I should be able to fill it like a packrat!

Oh, you can if you're careful about land impact. Seriously, you have no idea how hard it used to be to furnish a home. But in these days of mesh and increased prim allotments .. you are living in the best of times for furnishing a home. Be happy!

  19. I have both an in-world store, though many times I've considered closing it, and a marketplace store. Everything I sell is in the Marketplace store but my in-world location only contains my newer releases and best sellers.

As for my personal shopping method, MP or in-world. I actually prefer shopping in-world. I rarely buy from the MP unless I'm looking for specific gacha items. I will on occasion use the MP as a tool for window shopping, but once I find something in the MP I will go to the in-world shop to purchase. Now you may well wonder if that's my personal behavior why in the world would I consider closing my in-world shop. Well, in a nutshell, it's because 90% of my sales come from the MP. So I from time to time question whether spending money to have an in-world location is worth it, especially during those times when I wish I had more prims for my SL home.
