  1. Nothing here. Could it be an attachment issue of some kind?
  2. "Do you have shadows turned on in your viewer? If so what do you think of the shadows that your viewer displays in SL?" Absolutely. I'm always running with full shadows, DoF, AA, and Ambient Occlusion, no matter where I am or what I'm doing, and the option to turn them off is forbidden. To me, the realism and depth added to any scene cannot be done without. As for the quality of said shadows, I've been using Niran's viewer since his first release and (when used with Ambient) they come crisp and clean. "If you were to buy a tree or chair today, would you want or expect a ground shadow texture (on a prim/mesh) to be included? No. Every now and then when I'm out taking a few snapshots, I'll come across a 'textured' shadow, and it can be a real pain to get the scene shadows to match the 'textured' shadow's direction. Nothing wrong with textured shadows, mind you, as they have thier advantages in certain scenes. "What is your opinion about textured shadowing inside buildings? For example should the shadows from the window frames be built into the floor texture or do you think the viewer should be rendering all shadows nowadays?" (see above). Again, (especially when snapshotting within a building with a doorway or windows) I'll usually want the window's shadow cast into a room, as well as to be able to change the direction of the said shadow. Any other opinions or issues you have with shadowing on textures or shadows rendered by your viewer? None, but thanx for asking.
  3. After a cursory look through the Marketplace, I've failed to find a facial-leopard-print like CeCe Frey (previous X-Factor contestant). Does anyone know of anything like this, or even a tatt-maker who I can pay for the job? Thanx in advance, and Peace.
  4. Sorry about that, Clarissa; I removed a few older pics from my prof, and it never occurred to me. I've re-inserted the pic.
  5. I'm with Nyll on this one; Niran's viewer is the only one I can swear by. The entire Viewer is geared towards graphical quality and he's always tweaking the UI to occupy the least real estate on the screen as possible. Of course, NV requires a heftier machine to run the way it's meant to, and (as Nyll said above) with all of the UI customizability there's a plethora of settings one needs to go through to get it "just right". Again, being geared towards graphical-quality for photography and machinima, NV needs a heftier machine to get the most out of it. But that being said, if your GPU and Quad are up to the task, I'd recommend at least giving it a try. The above is taken with my 'standard' settings, which never change: shadows, DoF, AA, SSAO, UW distortion, full reflections. In a relatively empty sim (like this was at the time) FPS hovers around 22-25. In a safehub with 10-15 avies, FPS drops to around 12-14. Just a sidenote about Niran...he's fast. The updates are neither few nor far-between, and he's always wringing the bugs out as people report them. Everyone's needs from a viewer are different, and so I'd suggest you try as many as time will allow, and make your own decision. Just try to remember: it's your SL, no one else's. Cheers!
  6. Follow-up: Yup, it's "Taylor" from League Skins. The shape is also readily available in the same store, almost right beside it. Thanx again, Jasmyn for the lead. Thanks Kylie, for bearing with me and helping to find the exact match. Thanx SL Forum for the help that can always be counted on. Rearranging outfits to accomodate now. Busy Busy Busy...
  7. Eileen, sweet of you to say. And, you could be right: Kirstenlee Cinquetti's avie does, in fact, bear a resemblence. I should have seen that myself, as I used Kirsten's Viewer exclusively until the bottom fell out of it. Now, I use Niran's Viewer just as exclusively, which started as a fork of KV. Jasmyn, thanx for the lead. I'll check out League tonight.
  8. It has occurred to me that the creator of this particular look may not want others repeating it, and I'd completely understand that. To be perfectly honest, I felt a little iffy about even asking publicly about this, as it kinda leaves the impression that I'd rather copy someone else's idea than come up with one of my own. Thing is, I've used the same skin/shape combo for the last two years, and although I've (pardon the pun) grown attached to it, I've had the feeling lately that it's time to find something a little more current. Maybe it's just that phenomena that happens when you spend too much time looking at the same thing; you start to see imperfections. I've been told that the current skin/shape combo doesn't need replacing or updating, but...meh... Ironically, after looking through shop after shop in pursuit of replacements for quite a while now, I just happened to come across that model image (top of this thread), and it was one of those "THAT'S IT!!!!" moments. Whether the image is photoshopped or not, it's pretty much the look, itself, that I'm after. Even a combination of a close-skin and a close-shape would do it. I'll keep looking. Thanx for the responses so far!
  9. Purely by chance, I came across this in a store and it's almost exactly what I've been looking for. Can anyone identify the skin and shape here? Thanx.
  10. Not exactly the first time someone's brought up the hypo-thing. Li's profile explains the syringes (under Picks in the "Zalex" section); as a prop for her RP, they're necessary. It took a little playing-around at first, but (just like the "Kajira Slayer" dagger on her right arm), after a little experimentation I finally got both on her upper arms in a place and orientation wheras they wouldn't stab her. G'day!
  11. I started using TPVs about a year and a half ago when, through a reference in a forum post, I gave Kirsten's Viewer a try. Immediately I was hooked; the graphics were phenomenal, and I was seeing SL in an entirely new light. Up until the recent withdrawl of KV from the actively-updated list, I saw the introduction of higher-definition shadows, long-before the LL viewer and other TPVs like Imprudence started toying with them (to each thier own, but the shadows in Imprudence and LL were terrible until recently). That was the main reason I started using TPVs; Developers usually target thier viewer towards a more specialized niche, be it graphics, performance, V1-style, combat performance, etc. With so many niche viewers, users have a wide range of options available to them, wheras the LL viewer has to be everything to everybody. There's an old engineering addage: If you design something to do more than one thing, it probably won't do any of them well. Since Kirsten's has stopped development, I've been using Niran's Viewer. The principle of my choice is still the same; while in-world, I just can't enjoy it without the AntiAliasing, SSAO, shadows, and a respectable framerate, and all of these full-time...not just for photography. On the other hand, I use Exodus for OpenSim as it gives me a minor increase in FPS, at the expense of quality. [...to all the Exodus users who will be tempted to flame me for saying that, let's keep it civil, huh?...] My point is, in regards to the OP, my choice of TPV is tailored to my needs. That is the beauty of having the choices that these Devs give us, and I suppose the only way to find out for yourself is to try a few out. There's a wealth of user experience with the various TPVs and thier respective highlights right here in these forums. Take care!
  12. Fun to see everyone's finding new looks for the new year.
  13. Just for clarity, that's me in the pic. The laced-leather pants in that particular pic are the exact Immerschoen's you linked to. I was actually looking for a denim/jean laced-version of the same. Not necessarily the same brand (or even black for that matter), just denim jeans that lace-up the sides. Thanx though.
  14. I've been looking all over SL for the past couple of days, but haven't found anything like I'm looking for; 'search' isn't too helpful here. I'm looking for jeans that have the same 'laced' look as these: Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!
  15. I've been lucky for a while now. Aside from the odd rubber-banding once in a while, or the bogging-down of open-chat in a crowded area, I've been enjoying the full-experience of SL without the headaches. Well, maybe not luck. It definately has to do with the viewer I'm using. I've avoided using the LL viewer in favor of Kirsten's (and for now Niran's Viewer, a fork of KV), and it's been a much much much better experience; no problems with the UI (at least nothing to speak of), fullscreen, shadows, DOF, GI and AA have made for a beautiful time inworld. I'm on a cable connection, so there's never really been an issue with connection-speed. It's a beautiful virtual world in there, and we can only hope LL irons-out the issues that remain so that we can all enjoy it like it's supposed to be enjoyed. Peace!
  16. This may be a silly question, but is there an empty version of the TDK HUD available somewhere, that I can simply load without buying a prefab-set of animations? Thanks!
  17. Thanx for the replies. At least now I have a few options to check out, and yes, I will take a look at all of them. I exclusively use Kirsten's S21 (Niran's fork of it), and so the Phoenix and Firestorm AO's are not an option. As far as scripts go Tamara, I get the exact same notice (to the point where it prohibits my entry) in a few sims, so I'm also trying to reduce my usage. There has been more than one occasion where I've actually TP'd into a sim and heard people comment along the lines of, "Whoa! Lag!" I feel bad when that happens, and I don't want to ruin anyone else's experience, so whenever possible I eliminate scripts from anything that will allow me to. The DnD type of interface would be a good thing, but it's not mandatory, as far as I'm concerned. It just makes thing easier to change in a hurry. As far as the timing thing goes, Medhue, you're right. The thing is, some animations don't transition well into others, and control over the timing of individual anims (along with placing them in the proper order) would make things a little easier; not to mention allow the user to be a little more creative with the AO's. I'll definately check out the TKD. Again, thank you for the help everyone.
  18. I've been looking all over SL animation-stores for a replacement to the old (outdated?) ZHAO-II that I've been using for far too long. I've managed to find a replacement for my old dance-HUD, (DanceControlHUD V3), and I'm happy with the drag-and-drop method of setting up lists. I've been looking for almost a week now, and I was hoping for something a little more versatile for standing, walking, etc...a HUD that gives me more control over animation timings, easier setup (notecards are a pain). So, it's come to this. I'm hoping those more experienced could point me in the right direction. Thanx all!
  19. That's pretty close - in concept- of what I'm after, yes. I spent all yesterday looking around SL stores, but to no avail. Tha laces in thos are along the same lines as those that I saw, just the fem version. Thanx for all the help, everyone!
  20. I came across somebody yesterday who was wearing laced leather pants, the type that lace all the way up the sides from thigh to ankle. On closer examination, the laces themselves didn't seem textured, but rather looked like they were prim. I love the look of these, as well as the detail and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find them. Searches in the market just seem to turn-up the 'textured-laces' kind. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.
  21. I'm not sure if this has already been covered, but so far I haven't been able to find any answers so I was hoping that someone here could lend some advice. I'm capturing video, and for the captures I'm hiding the HUD and UI. Problem is, I have certain animations (copy-protected) that need to be started./stopped while recording, and with the UI hidden I can't do either. I was hoping to assign hotkeys to the various anims, but it's my understanding that CP'ed anims can't be used in gestures. Anyone know how I can start/stop these anims by hotkey? I'd really appreciate any help that could be offered. thanx
  22. Thanx for all the help! Found exactly what I was looking for. Thanx again for all the help! Cheers!
