Moe...really?  I mean, if I am logging in my main and my alts from my home PC, they're all using the same public IP, aren't they?  So wouldn't either type of ban (IP or MAC address hardware ban) affect all of one's accounts?

Darkhand...you're lucky it was just for 30 days.  Never give the finger to the Gods, unless you want divine retribution.

Except he tried logging in from a neighbor's who would not have the same IP.

These were account bans, not IP or MAC address.

its a glitch or bug  what ever you want to call it and had happened to me , I was told log out then  when you  log back in  walk around your home to see if the same thing happens , If it does  put on your original avi   the one you started second life in    walk  around the inside of your home again ,,, if all is well its something from the outfit  or hair or body part  on the avi  ,,, for me it was hair ,,,, i just had to rez  new one ,,sometines the scripts in clothes hair  shoes get weird  ,,,, it no matter what you try if  it still happens file  support ticket or support chat ,,,, hope all goes well ,,,, hugs   note i went item  by item as i redressed my avi ,,, the skin first ,,, take the walk   and as i tiem by item redressed her  when i put on the hair   bingo  ,,,, so i went to inventory got that hair rezed a new one and all ok ,,,,, it also happened with shoes ,,,,

I think you are talking about bake fails which are not the same thing as rubberbanding. Bake fail fixes won't work for rubberbanding. There's no connection between the two.

If SL dies, somebody will just Necro it back again, and you'll get the usual screamers about necro-gaming versus it's not a game versus it's dead Dave versus no it isn't it's just tired out after a long squawk.

You left out, "It's dead, Jim."

Ya'll don't seem to understand what's happening. This isn't a lag issue. I've had it happen when I'm one of about 3 avis on a sim. I can be walking along without any problem and suddenly get sucked (moved, snapped like i'm on a rubber band) to a particular spot that is the same every time it happens no matter where i am when it starts. once i'm there I can still control my avi (turn left and right, sit, stand etc) but i cannot leave from the spot i've been drawn to. like i'm surrounded by an invisible wall.

Sounds a good bit like the age old problem us ancient oldbies called rubberbanding back in the day. Rubberbanding is caused by lag. The lag may not necessarily be on your end.

Does it happen when you are on a different viewer then your usual?

In order to eliminate as many lag possibilites as... well... possible, give these things a try https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_lag_troubleshooting

And if nothing on that pages helps, then you can look at other possibilities. That's how troubleshooting works. Process of elimination. Eliminate the obvious first.

Well yes I'm sure nurture plays a part too, but I was nurtured in music as well as art, and that was a massive flop.

What matters is, you are not a flop. You are a talented person. Work with what you have, build on it and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve.

You'll soon be getting something you can tinker with. I'm working on getting it boxed right now. Don't worry about breaking anything. In fact, I want you to break it!  You'll understand when you read the notecard.

    O.O

I guess we all optimize differently.  My DD is set to 200 and avatar complexity is about 120K.  If my CPU fan ever kicks into a higher speed I drop the Draw Distance down to 100 and it cools right down.

Note that my graphics card is not a high end gaming card.

    ASUS M51BC Series
    Windows 10 Home 64bit
    AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor, 3.3 GHz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
    RAM 24 GB
ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 OC 2GB

I keep my av complexity well below 100k. Usually under 50k.

It's not just LSL. I can't understand any kind of programming. I just can't seem to think in the right way or understand how to put any of it together.

I know the feeling all too well. Many people can't. It's just that there are enough of them that can't ever admit it or are never in a position to need to admit it that we never know about so we end up looking like the unintelligent few when that is really not the case.

Even the forums I used to own... I could never do what I really wanted because I couldn't code. So I learned how to change the skins, starting with just learning how to change colors. Start with the "easy" things. If you can learn to tweak a little it will help to start understanding some of it. Just don't set your sights on ever actually being able to write one from scratch. It's the same method I used to drop the 50+ pounds I had gained. I set my first goal to lose 30 pounds. Once I was down to 150, I set my next goal at 140, then 130, then 125. I am now down to what I weighed before I ever had to prove to other half that the amount of food I ate was more than enough and to eat like he wanted me to I'd pack on the pounds fast. Which is precisely what happened. I went from 120 to 180+ in just a few months and it took years to get it all off. Not the best decision I ever made but it got him off my back about it which relieved a good bit of stress on me.

When I log in later today, I'll try to remember to send you a swing script I have and you can play with how high it swings. Maybe something will click for you and open up more tweaking possibilities for you. Like making the movement smoother. If you start getting frustrated with it, walk away for a while, or go do something else in SL for a while, then come back to it with a fresh mind and try again. And if you need help, it's just a post or IM away. :)

This will start with a lower draw distance when you TP somewhere and step increase it to your graphics setting value, but it won't adjust it based on your FPS, which is what it sounds like she was suggesting.

PDD is as close as anyone is going to get to that. FPS fluctuates too much to be any kind of stable base.

Personally, I leave my DD set at 64 and lower and raise it as needed. But that setting also depends on other viewer graphic settings. I rarely max any of those out, even when the computer I am using can handle it. I'm just not going to push my pcs that hard. It's one of the reasons I so rarely have any issues and why my pcs last longer.

I guess I'm just not intelligent enough for that part of SL. I dislike puzzles for the same reason - I'm never smart enough to solve them (unless they're puzzles for kids).

No Matty. You are intelligent enough. The problem is LSL is unique to SL and isn't anything like any other "coding system" in use. I've been considered a "genius" since I was a child but even I can't wrap my brain around LSL enough to script. I can tweak, sometimes I get lucky and can add something and it works (usually not) but actually scripting an object from scratch? Never going to happen.

Hmm?  Wouldn't it be nice if we could measure FPS and set Draw Distance by script?  Then we could automatically adjust draw distance to 32 when near one of those monstrosities.  Now that's something we could ask Lagging Lab for, soon.

Already been done. It's been in the FS viewer for years.

I figured phil was one of the names I could mention in the forums that just about everyone knew..hehehehe

All i was saying was, when this topic came up awhile back and I had mentioned about my alt,he knew what the alt fee was for..

I just have the one alt..I never bothered making anymore because I didn't really think they were worth the money back then.. lol

Ah... I think I know what you are talking about now. Back then they did charge you for creating an account if you already had one. The charge was $9.95 I think... right at $10. That changed in 2005 though. I would never have made the first alt if I had had to pay for it. You must have created that one before the change.

I am begging the Lindens to create a new second life with rules to keep lag down and to keep things looking nice...The two main rules should be no temp rez items and nothing below 500 meters in the sky...i have tried to buy land on the mainland but the lag is so bad everywhere there is nothing to buy...i have seen many fps levels below 8.0

Maybe instead of begging LL do something it isn't going to do (and likely can't do since it isn't just mainland that is involved) you could try some troubleshooting that can help you to reduce the lag you experience.

Phil Knew what it was when I brought it up last time..I can't even remember that much about it,but he knew what it was about..

I looked through my emails and can't even find the email where I made the account,so I must have deleted it or it's just too buried in emails. hehehe

I have no idea what you're talking about... Phil? brought it up last time? huh?

No worries. Not really important. Just in all the years I've been in SL the only account I ever paid for was my original that was "premium" before there ever was such a thing as premium. Basics didn't exist at the time. This was during the early years when you got a free week trial and then it was a monthly sub.

I've never paid for any basic accounts, ever. But then, I've never gone crazy creating alts either. :D

I remember they charged me for my alt back in 2006..

I forget how much it was,but it was my first only alt.. I believe they stopped doing that way back then also..

Odd. I never had to pay for either of my alts that were created in 2005 or the ones after either. And they all used the same email.

I'm pretty sure basics were introduced in late 2004/early 2005. Unfortunately, LL doesn't mention when basics were introduced.

I was thinking that this collectible bonus outfit would turn shopping into a kind of gaming experience. A merchant could use this method to sell their less desirable goods. What if you received a dress but the color changing hud was with another outfit? I guess that'd still be annoying.

Shopping is already enough of a PITA, why make it even more so? Less desirable goods are just that. If you want to increase the desirability, you should either improve the goods or set them at a reduced price and see if you can't increase the volume that way.

Of course, it is difficult to tell without seeing these less desirable goods, but you may want to consider grouping them into fat packs. Or even offer the ones that sell the least as gifts or dollarbies.

Sadly, sometimes things just don't sell very well and in those cases, I will usually either pull the item completely or offer it at a reduced price. If reducing the price doesn't help, that's when I pull or they become dollarbies or gifts/freebies.

Hopefully these suggestions will help to get the creative marketing muse working for you again. 👍

...prepares an itsy bitsy fire for you while listening to this...

I'm not sure what's most amazing about that video, the fact that it's got 155 million views, or that 1/3rd of the tagging viewers (105K!) didn't like it. I'm reminded of the old restaurant joke "The food is terrible and the portions are too small".

I never understood why he always had to climb up the inside only to get washed back down. Why didn't he just climb up the outside of the spout the first time?

Most children's songs and rhymes never made sense to me anyway even as a child.
