  1. LL prescribed a method for land owners to mark their sims as unphotographable. If it lists in a land's covenant that you are expressly forbidden to take images of the space or do machinima on the space, that is considered adequate warning. The vast majority of land owners do not limit screen capture or machinima but if ever in doubt, check the covenant. The covenant for the sim I own states: "Machinima and screen capture (photography) are expressly allowed on all parts of the sim. However, all international laws apply to the capture and reproduction of specific works and we ask that you respect people's privacy, as always." I would think most sims would welcome photographers and references.
  2. Cajsa, who is always humble, failed to mention that she makes a list of photo spots around the grid and updates it on a notecard that we share with our fashion bloggers' group. I also pass it around to anyone else who asks (as does she). She promised she will be updating it soon (probably after she's done with this gig).
  3. I logged on today see all these awesome contributions! Antonia, Pookiepie, Harper, etc.. wowee! What I love is how everyone's aesthetic stays kind of the same even though their look changes. This is so fun!! Ha!
  4. Kaiden, nothing to be embarassed about. Scroll up and look at me You're fabulous now!
  5. Thanks for all the kind comments. I thought, what do we always take new users to get or work on ourselves first? That waddle is the first thing go go for me *every time* I help a new user. Ariel, I was unable to give attribution to the items I showed here because LL gave me a word limit and I wanted to pack as much in as I could. (As it was, I had 700 words edited down to 400 thanks to Erehwon Yoshikawa.) I thought the best thing was to put SLURLs on my own blog rather than skip it. I had so much more to say about everything! Pale skin? Would direct you to LAQ and also Tuli's goth Hope skin, which is a bit older but still stuns me with its translucency and shimmer. You can also ask Winter directly in world--he's a *really* nice guy and a treasure trove of information. Eyes? Ikon Innovia commented articulately above. He taught me all I know about the intricacies of them. His eyes are my favorite and I use them almost exclusively. Thanks, Brett and the rest of the team, for inviting me to participate.
  6. Madelaine McMasters reminded me from her post that we all have a fairy godmother or godfather in SL who made us the avatars we are today, who rescued us from newbie life. I would like to acknowledge those who helped me: 1. Oboe somethingorother showed me how to work the Lucky Chairs through PopFuzz so I could get swag to add to my Free Dove items. I still have a rainbow dress that I got in a LC that wins me every ugliest dress contest I attend. 2. Ireland Barrymore, probably disgusted by my bling and freebies, gave me my first 500L and took me shopping at Artilleri. Thank you, Ireland, person the longest on my friends list. 3. A woman whose name escaped me took me and gave me 1000L to buy my first Gala skin. Gosh, I wish I remember her name....That was way too generous! 4. Dirk Talamasca introduced me to Raven Pennyfeather. Raven changed my SLife and my real life by allowing me to work for her at RFyre and by being a dear friend. 5. Heather Rau took me shopping, taught me about my shape, encouraged me to buy boy hair, and generally tolerated newbie me for a long time.
  7. I did it! I dug through inventory and in my computer. (I had so many photos on the computer that I have to archive them by year on to a hard disk. I am a junkie!) Here is what I was able to scrape up quickly:
  8. Oh yes! Now that reminds me we need to thank our first benefactors.. Thank you! And love the juxtaposition
  9. In my SL a few well placed tips changed my SLife: Wear a skirt shape with system skirts. Make a copy of items before adjusting them. (No photo.. heh. I forgot to save my work.) Eyes are very important. Pay close attention to how they fit, look on you, match what you are wearing, etc. That bling? Not so good. Girls can wear men's hair. It won't affect your hormones. What were some of your SLife changing lessons?
  10. Oh brilliant, Casja. OK, that's it. I have to do one.. ack!
  11. My problem is that when I am sitting up on a pose stand and trying to get a blog done, I also like some "noise" in the background, so I am listening in on group chat in these groups. As a result, I ended up as a moderator in several because.. well... I am sure the owners figure if they can't kick me out, might as well give me some responsibility. I have made a lot of great friends through the groups. I think that group chat is a huge huge bit of glue in SL for many people and creates the networks and linkages we may not have otherwise. It allows us to discuss common interests from afar. That's why we are all so anxious to see chat lag go away. It seems they are working hard on this at LL. As for group chat, some folks don't like the intrusion and get aggravated by the "noise." Phoenix/Firestorm and Builder's Brewery always ding open when I log on and I just close them. No skin off my back. Finally, regarding group chat, I think some manners do have to be followed: !. Don't send more than 3 lines at a time--too spammy. 2. Don't advertise unless it's acceptable in the group. 3. Keep to the topic the group allows. Some of these are just cultural things in the group. Fashion Emergency lets us talk about anything typically and things are only moderated when people get aggravated. Hey Girlfriends is the same but a much smaller group of people it seems. Menstuff can get raunchy and Womenstuff is much nicer. Skin Addiction is fun as is Fabulously Free but the topics can be a little more restricted. 4. If it's typically a chatty group, either leave or endure but don't complain. Who likes a whiner? 5. Do NOT ask for money in group chat. Ack.
  12. Vick, that is simply awesome! Now I feel like I should make one of those. What an interesting look
  13. Oo! I have seen some pants with attachments or drawn in uh.. features. As for kilts, that's a good point. How could one be constructed so that the flat panel in front was right? Would it be a very slightly curved prim with flexi? You know the flexi skirts in SL kind of goof things up for a lot of designs. (I know my flowy skirts in RL don't have separate pieces like some sort of car wash.) A sculpty would be so wrong because.. in real life men's kilts move so nicely when they walk *sigh*
  14. So you want wavy short or curly? Have you seen Dura? Also it seems that Branson Twine's blog shows a variety of men's hair. You can always try women's hair too I ran around in men's hair a long time after my friend Heather Rau said, who cares? Go for it!
  15. Oh that's awesome, Marianne! I really love how you did that
  16. That's gorgeous, Thereaver! I would say that one of the problems I have with the SL avatar sometimes is the nose..I just can't get it to be right for an African-American or East Asian look that I want. Not everyone has a pencil thin nose.
