It seems to me that choosing to be, as you put it, "Puritanical" is a legitimate (used as a NOUN!) choice, just as being more sexually permissive is.
We tend to be of the view in SL that people, and landowners in particular (because Adam Smith or something) should have a pretty absolute right to determine what is allowed on their own land -- and that surely must apply to Puritans as well? I wouldn't want to go to such places, and I'm wary about their ideological attitudes, for reasons noted above -- but they should have the right to be as closed-minded as they want.
Indeed - I agree but my preferred choice of words was "some venue owners have a stick up their a**se" but I was trying to be polite. Ultimately - "They pay the rent - they makes the rules"...

Didn't "The Police blotter" in SL used to do this? Not really sure why they gave it up - it wasn't perfect but there was some indication that governance was happening and in a timely way.

If we're not careful - we're in serious danger of throwing the baby out with the bath water. Just because a Sim is rated Adult - doesn't mean that it's hosting anything more than folks dancing, chatting & taking the rise out of each other using language that G & M sims tend to ban people for.

Try The Midnight Cove Club (TMCC) over on Jasmine Cloud, ShenaniganS Music Cafe on Ocean of Orchids or Skyfire over on Sabnock. They're all small venues compared to Muddy's or Big Daddy's but that works for them in having folks to talk to...
They'll all have sets at different UK times so you'll take a wee while to find a "rythmn" to your visits that suits you

This *points up* - not all our staff are premium and to be honest with all the DJ events being bundled in to the "Live Music" category - it became rather a snowstorm for us. I think one of our DJ's argued for us to keep posting events but even using a "promo" for 3 weeks - we showed that no one was coming to his sets because of events.
It was a shame that charging happened and that the system isn't more granular in it's categories - it used to be a good way of publicising events but these days not so much

Its Zindra, so obviously there are adult things too, but if I don't mention them , is advertising allowed?

Oh by the way, why are XXX activities now allowed to be advertised on the coming events section of the SL webpage.

Having owned a venue for 8 years that never hides the fact we're folks based in the UK - there does (sadly) seem to be a bit of stigma/shame/embarassment amongst some folks that they visit a UK owned venue, there's actually quite a few venues run by folks from the UK e.g. Midnight Cove, Blitz, The Hummingbird, Wet Willies, High Voltage Rock & of course my own venue ShenaniganS on Ocean of Orchids.
There does seem to be a presumption that the good DJ's are only at american run venues however the paradox is that those venues (Muddy's, Big Daddys, Rockin Robins for example) all have UK based DJ's in UK friendly slots.
Perhaps we're too 'british'? We don't have union flags hanging off every wall, our staff don't wear bowler hats or union flag underwear (though I can't be sure - I've never checked!) or end every sentence with "Want a cup of tea with that love?" but let folks get on with enjoying the music, the company and the occasional references to farts & 'Are you being served?"
It's probably fair to say that if you're looking to hook up with someone then don't head to a UK owned venue (too many lothario's/Romeo's get put off by having the urine taken out of them I suspect) but if you want good music, some new friends or simply some good company that doesn't gasp when you talk about enjoying a ***** (f@ggut) & pea batch or twiglets - then you won't do better IMO

Geoff - thankfully we never suffered the same issue when we first started out on mainland (apart from our pet griefer - 7 years & he's still not given up!) - if you want to sort the issue because you envisage being there for a while then could I suggest a visitor tracker at the point that all seem to land - I.e ArtiZan do a nice effective one that stores names in a friendly format as does Fred Allandale. Rez the tracker - create the most basic setup from it's instructions and let it run for a few days - it will accumulate a nice list of names for you.
Once you've got the names list - either add them the parcel ban list (but this might end up almost filling your ban list) or buy the CasperSafe Security Orb (I recommend that because if has some nice visitor tracking features but it's not too hot on doing much with the visitor lists it's creates i.e. you can't add a visitor to it's internal ban list from the CasperPanel) and add the names from your visitor list to it's ban list then let it do it's thing. Banned Avies arrive but get ejected and TP'd home almost straightway... You'll find after a week or so - the new random visitors will stop coming....

Edit: Oh nuts, I'm going to bite the bullet and revert to the previous. If that stops the issue, I know it's this relase of FS and not my PC.
I had some silly issue with Firestorm dropping it's settings every few days - after a long discussion on the JIRA - they thought it might be Firestorm crashing as it closed down and corrupting the settings files
What eventually "cured" it for me was turning off Windows Write Caching on my system drive - it seems that Firestorm was exiting, Windows was being asked to Shutdown by me & probably thought the cache was now invalid so not writing it...
Now - I get missing content in Inventory folders every few days necessitating a clear Inventory Cache & restart - which does solve things for a few days... I can't help wondering if this is also disk cache related and whether there's any Windows API calls that Firestorm could use to flush the caches as it closes down.The irony is - we all used to say "You need a decent computer to run SL" and now we have - the inner workings haven't caught up

Sorry - only just seen the post. Yes the website is working but our hosting provider has been doing some hardware upgrades & their load sharing is abysmal - that might have caught you out.
It's also not https so Google will whine like a little kid about it not being safe... It is safe - we don't need https - we're not taking any personal or financial data off you.

We can't promise to always be full of sparkling conversation but we don't have voice enabled on our main parcel for this reason - text chat makes folks thinks a little more before being an idiot. We do keep EU/UK hours though which might put you off...

I suspect you'll wait for a while for a sensible answer... I would offer my own venue but we don't fulfil the "well attended" criteria - small venues like ours seem to be struggling for visitors at the moment

You could hop over to ShenaniganS Music Cafe - we're a UK owned venue so our sets are timed for there and Europe. Fun starts most days from 6pm UK time...

It's likely this - I moaned at my landlords for weeks about this (thankfully they're friends!) and even submitted a ticket about it...
To my mind it made our sim look "broken" so folks didn't visit via map browsing.
Turns out that a lot of sim surrounds use mega prims and the bounding boxes confuses the map rendering routines (also beware - there's a very nice planetary system that leaves circles on the map too) - eventually we found a lovely 3/4 sim surround that works & doesn't obscure the map and for our part of the sim we use prim/sculpty off sim elements. -

Sometimes they tell you which party area they're at but if you've never been there before and they don't provide directions at their landing site... yeah. No thanks.We use teleport routing a lot for this reason - it lands folks next to where the event is happening & saves a lot of head scratching.

Sorry, this sounds bizarre but I've had a couple of guests to my venue being vocal in local about how no events ever seems to happen at Exhale - they want a fix of EDM and it's supposedly a 24/7 venue.
They see it consistently at the top of the destination guide floater because there's lots of bodies showing but whenever they visit - there's no DJ or Host and just a radio stream playing with lots of AVies stood around (new players & some old).
They couldn't see a group joiner (which would be the best way of seeing what events are happening) and there's nothing posted in SL Events so they were having a proper moan about how it stays at the top of the "Music & Clubs" section. Does anyone know if it's still active as a club or just living on it's past glories? (More so I can shut them up politely next time they moan!) -

Most social events seem to kick off after 12noon SLT.
It's been like that since I joined SL 15 years ago - much of the UK is at work during the day so get home, feed the kids, bath the dog, do homework, do the washing up & instead of settling down to Strictly Come Baking on Ice - log in to SL for a couple of hours. Most folks tend to log in around 11am SLt (7pm UK) time then log around 2pm SLt to get ready for work/school the next day.
There's a few UK folks around during the day but to be honest - most of them seem pre-occupied with the weather, finding out where you live in the UK and... well - that's about it. The "daytime folks" don't seem to wander far from their SL "home" unless it's to Uber or that really cute club they found where them and their two mates are "regulars" or the London Sim where again - they talk about the weather, where you're from...
I get the impression too that some are simply not allowed online after 6pm - they have partners who work during the day or they're accessing from work because they don't have a decent PC at home.
We've tried reaching out as a venue to them (our schedule has always been "biased" toward UK/Europe times starting at 6pm UK) but they're either afraid of catching something, seeing someone wearing less than they feel comfortable with or of getting drawn in to a conversation about something other than the weather/where they live (and that's just the folks who joined SL to meet people!)
I've got some good UK friends that I met in SL but they're outnumbered on my friends list by folks from Denmark, Holland, Cyprus & the USA who seem more willing to venture outside, dance like a loon or sit round a fake campfire and set the world to rights.
I think the best summary is "There's nowt so queer as folks".

I hear your pain but part of it is that so many people rush for a Linden home - decorate it then meet friends there and don't wander off their own land except to Uber, Fameshed and so on.
The grid can be very empty at various times which doesn't help folks like yourself looking for company - timezones don't help either. However, there are some nice people and places out there - some of us even operate in UK friendly hours. We might not satisfy your music and friendship needs today but tomorrow or next week we might - that's the beauty of community...
