  1. As one can plainly see my imagination was not getting the best of me the fool actually admits it. One finds only laughter in such childishness
  2. WOW over 4000 have we really had that much to say? One has to love it:) wooot ♥♥
  3. Good morning friends. I would welcome anyone normally but "BabyDeeQ" is only here as an alt to follow me around. It is the brain child of someone brainless based on an accusation of someone called "Baby" in the feeds being my alt, and of course my name D(ee)Q. There is only one person (well maybe two) with this childish level of IQ to "mastermind" such a infantile effort. pfffffft
  4. Big Hugs and kisses all. I think we all can be proud of that achievement, It just shows Hippie, that good things are bound to last. We had a few bumpy days but survived intact. The feeds put a bit of a bite on us but we got around it. So to friends and community LMAO Lia. hugs♥ 03-03-2011 to xxxxxxxxxxxx
  5. Hey missed you guys:( I stopped getting notices for some reason. Hugs to the lot of ya lol One month Hippie and this thread will be a year old WOOOOOOOT
  6. Well it has been an interesting discussion and it pretty much runs the same pattern in the Feeds, Walls, my.secondlife.com or whatever the heck it has for a title. While I am pleased Rodvik came to us presenting the planned action, as Del said, a more formal statement as a follow up would be welcomed. We do not yet know the full "wow" factor suggested in and around the Last Name issue, other than possible, maybe and what if titles. The general consciences I see from comments here and on the feeds are pretty much as follows: Last Names - Bring them back - Yes (with other suggestions also offered with respect to the various options that are possible) Titles - No (don't you dare lol) I do like the idea of having a General Notice sent to residents requesting their input by a vote (governed by a time frame for answering), on matters that directly impact our life on the grid. It is in fact what I believe Rodvik was doing, getting a feel from us. This to me would be a simple Yes/No process eliminating all the passions one way or the other. I for one would feel more a part of the community having a say. Whether or not the Voted process had an impact on the question being fielded, is entirely in the hands of LL in the end regardless. I do think our say would have some bearing though. Thanks all for your input. Waves to Rodvik
  7. @Del: I guess Del there would probably be some truth in what everyone has said about the LL database, from basic structure on up. What I had said was very basic in that noticing the login page field change was a flag for me to reflect underlying database changes. In truth I would believe LL has quite a few databases running all providing various aspects of support to the grid.and also interacting with one another. Having said this then the type and structure of said databases would present a lot of inherent problems unknown to us. As a caveat what I have said, of course, are assumptions on my part. But looking at SL's birth date I would assume some old technology exists.
  8. Yes you are pretty much on the money Del. Everything in SL is associated to a UID or UUID in the database and it is that KeyField that leaps around the respective servers as you navigate through the grid. To me that is pretty much the rez problem we all incounter in telporting, the time required for servers to pass UID/UUID information to one another allowing textures, you and visable attachments to be veiwed on the server supporting the sim where you are. That's simplified mind you but basically what I understand of how it works. I also recall that prior to the single name introduction the login field had two areas to enter your name First Name and Last Name. When single names where introduced with the default name as resident the login screen changed to have the whole av name in one field. To me this means within the underlying database the first name /last name fields where merged. The result was in your login you had a name field for full name and then password vise First Last and then Password. It would not suprise me that we all have the Lastname of Resident in the database and it is filtered out so we don't see it based on account date. Now to revert back to First name Last name fields is no longer that simple and if your going to have to restructure the database maybe it's a good time to add fields like the suggested "Titles". NOT. Anyway we are UID/UUID numbers associated to that number by Names much like www addresses are associated to IP addresses on the web. If you change the web address you don't get the related IP address so you don't get the right page. Well that's my take on the issue and I hope I haven't confused the issue more. lol
  9. I just want to say that although the posts were removed, I apologize to Kylie for snappping at her. I slipped and need to say sorry Kylie:(
  10. Good point Charo Ceera I agree his feed is pretty active right now lol:)
  11. I just saw this Hippie. I'll add mine it is pretty simple. I'm left handed so DQ is an easy type. Darwin, well my eveloution into second life.. I just hough if I was right handed then it would be PK Darwin and that just isn't right.
  12. @Charo: it still remains as said any "title" given by LL will end up slighting someone somehow as you have said. I have been in-world 4 years and can still rez a box on my hand, so would I get an "old noob" title??
  13. At the time I posted this Rodviks Feed was not open to comment it now is at https://my.secondlife.com/rodvik.linden/posts/4f285951be9e8f0001002204 might be worth stating your preference there.:)
  14. @Charo: I agree with the need for last last names in place of Resident (which might indicate lots of inbreeding or something equally unfair). Those who joined under the Resident tag should also have the opportunity to change their last I hope. @Nuhai I do believe LL is listening but they also have their own creative ideas. A few years back we would have heard about this after the fact. I think they are aware someone might bring this to the forums so a sentences of customer opinion could be seen. Then again I could be wrong:) @Cinn you have to start and SL Titles thread and see what folks come up with , lol. @BabyDeeQ: You welcome and welcome to the forums. I must say you have a lovely name, (wonders if we are in some way related?)
  15. @Cinn: I agree that they listened was nice and I hope they still are. I would like to see the topic discussed here in a manner that just might present enough weight to swing the concept one way or the other.
  16. Assumption rather than suggestion Del. With each media added it becomes more of a challenge to find information, I was referring to /my.secondlife.com. (but you knew that;)) When I see ideas like "Titles" I envision the race to be top title dog and all the broken Av's that got caught in the melee. My other concern would be once titles were accepted then comes the add privileges 6 month later. NO TITLES
  17. Hey Cinn, yes titles are only good for books:) Although sherrif for a day would be fun, lol
  18. I am game for last name but am leery about this part ( finally we want to consider adding meaningful things like titles etc that can be awarded by the community or some other methods). Any type of title assignment introduces with it a class system, giving a false image to the community of I have more say than you and at worse the owner of the title believes that. Titles are only of value to employees of LL and that to me is enough. We have titles in the forums like Member, Contributor, Helper and Advisor to indicate a support for the good of the community when in fact some have been banned several times. So what would titles serve to the community? My vote on titles would be no. Just my thoughts......
  19. Lets discuss Rodvik Linden's post from the feeds about SL last names, thoughts? <quote Quick update on last names. Just fyi the team here has been working on solutions for this and it is taking longer than we thought. identity is important so we want the ability to have that wonderful shared experience the old last name system had but also not lose sight of the fact that many people really do not want a name given to them, they want freedom to define their identity, finally we want to consider adding meaningful things like titles etc that can be awarded by the community or some other methods. Anyway bit more complicated than initially thought but progress is being made. Will have a baked plan sometime in February we think endquote> ETA: https://my.secondlife.com/rodvik.linden/posts/4f285951be9e8f0001002204
  20. My thought would be "WHO" decides what is a masterpiece and what isn't. Once you remove equal footing you open the door for all kinds of grief. There is already enough finger pointing at known or perceived class systems within SL do we need more? If you believe you have a masterpiece sim then you enjoy it. Now if, through equal voting a sim could be determined as worth keeping for posterity and SL bought it out that would be different.
  21. No and why? When you buy your 6th Ford car should you get a reduced price for any more you purchase. Companies offer consumers choose. Rebates or reduction based on loyalty not going to happen.
  22. Good Sunday to all:) Hugs Hippie, Lia, Val and Wildcat, as well as all who wander by. Off to enjoy the day, wooooot
  23. It was a treat going back through them. The whole thing regardless of the lag and all was a blast. Didn't we kill the sim on Hippiestock the original also, I seem to recall we did? weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:D:p
