  1. I've been super excited to explore following the recent postings in this thread and cannot believe that you can already look back at the south east coast of Satori from the new Bellisseria land. How awesome is that?

Quick pic and map vew of where I am.

  2. I thought I'd get one of my alts to come along for the boat ride but he can't access the region I am in and to him I appear to be in mid air. Second picture is how I appear to myself, sailing happily. I guess the perils of visiting regions still in development.

While they work on the new chalet (presumably) continent, the moles are also zipping through new stilt regions.  Today I noticed 12 new SSPE stilt regions filling in the gap between the upper and lower wings of Margaritaville, outlined in purple,  that aren't as yet showing on the map at all.  {Apologies if someone has already mentioned these, I did scan the last few pages of this thread before posting, butcha never know.)

Flying through them, I see a lot of long, narrow pieces of land that could accommodate many of the very popular type of home, the Stilt-on-Land with deck overhanging water.

Thanks so much for spotting and sharing this development @Nika Talaj

As I have a HB nearby I went out in my boat and thought I'd share how the mini-map looks at the moment.

if you have a hovercraft that goes on both land and water then the owner of that airfield in Meighen allows us to go thru their property. On the north side their parcel joins to a Linden highway. And on the south side the owner has made a opening in the wall that holds up the aero runway

so can drive on their road underneath the runway and out thru the hole in the wall. Is a bit of drop down to Rhodium but is easy doable. Then can putter on down south from there

    Useful information, thanks for sharing.

Another option I and others have mentioned is one region to the west of the link regions that lead south to Bellisseria there is an existing protected parcel leading to the Linden road in Alcona.

  5. Looking west from Mango Salsa where the moles are working their magic bringing new regions to life, the nearest to me is the least developed. As this SSP thread is like the unofficial Bellisseria history I thought I'd take some screenshots. If you want to explore SSPE1754 has a rez zone that works.

Sorry to follow up my own post rather than edit it but there are a few of these nearby, some are transparent and maybe it is just I haven't been in a working area before. Keeping out the way of a hard working mole I can see on ths mini map.

  7. Regarding the sailing posibilities if these new regions become available in there current locations (likely I'd say) then the nearest to the southern tip of Satori Muesli is two regions west of Pounce which is a Linden water region off the south east coast. I've created a  quick location map:

    image.thumb.png.5a95fe46901895ca04d27d82664b70e7.png

What would be needed to sail from the new regions in the south to the orange dot on my second map is 18 new Linden water or mix homes and water regions north along the Satori coast then off we could sail to Nautilus, Blake Sea, Corsica and Gaeta V. How awesome would that be!

What is obvious from the pattern of the new regions is that the are clearly headed, as we have seen for some time, toward Satori as otherwise they wouldn't go north then east then north again (repeatedly).

Unlikely to be LH regions the map has been borked quite a while if these regions have been moved the map hasn't updated

I have been checking the map regularly from the southern tip of Satori for some time so can confirm the visible regions on the map have been there for a considerable time. The nearest, Buffalo Springs shows on Grid Survey as in existence on 4th March 2009 but status inactive so it is a bit of a mystery but I think that suggests it is not SSP as such. Today it is not possible to teleport into it, not sure if this is a region owner restriction or because it has been relocated/removed.

I am excited by the possibility as I said above that the new Bellisseria regions may connect along the eastern Satori coast allowing the most amazing intercontinental sailing possibilities 😀

Thanks Daniel for sharing this news, I have been eagerly awaiting this development. When the connection is made I hope that there will be some additional regions along the south east coastline of Satori to allow onward navigation north.

Homes or parcels?    Certainly on Bellisseria there's a distinction between the homes themselves (which I own, and which count against LDPW's available LI for region, along with all our roads, trees, flowers, community centres, rocks, lampposts and so on), and the parcels on which they seem to sit, which are owned by individual residents, who have the full LI for the parcel available for furnishing and decorating it.

Good question, the answer is homes, as my figures were the 512m home parcels and excluded the common areas "Protected Land - Park". For example using another random region Watanabe: 14 Linden Home parcels owned by Govenor Linden plus the parkland (15 parcels, 48640m² combined area) with 33 resident owned 512m home parcels.

  11. Following up my sample in my OP I have gone to Premium South 1 and looking in a random Japanese region the occupied homes are only 6 with 50 vacant and owned by Govenor Linden so maybe use is very different in different locations. (On another random region 6 also occupied and 50 vacant.)

When Bellisseria was first new, and there was much anguish about the housing (especially houseboats) shortage; I floated the idea of connecting the old Linden continents to the Blake Sea. @Patch Lindenexplained to me at the time, that he and the team had looked at a variety of scenarios for the old continents. It was going to take too much work to redesign them and move them. They would eventually be deleted.

Interesting and in line with what I had read. It remains my view though that it would be a real shame to erase everything as while much of the old Linden continents are very 'cookie cutter' with dense housing there are some lovely features that I really hope they can relocate. Maybe a few regions could be saved and relocated next to the Linden staff regions in north east Sansara as a museum of what once was.

  13. A topic in the Mainland forum in which I posted some interesting landmarks from the old Premium East continent got me thinking about how much space in Bellisseria will be needed to relocate everyone in one of the four old Linden Home Premium continents.

Based on the first 8 regions with homes in the north east of Premium East (the largest old Linden home continent) I was surprised how many of the Linden homes are taken - 229 out of 411 (55.7%). My impression is many look empty walking past but many are still resident owned so would need relocating.

Does anyone know how many old Linden home regions there are so we can setimate the overall new homes required in Bellisseria?

It'd be a shame if the "old" Linden homes went, there are a LOT of secret areas on them, if you take the time to explore.

I totally agree with this. Due to lockdown in UK I've spent a lot more time in world exploring and that has included wandering round the largest old Linden homes continent. I loved the little features and unexpected finds created by the Moles and really hope many can be moved to Bellisseria.

I have decorated rooms and skyboxes only in my rentals business. That's doable, but somewhat of a fool's errand because many people want to remove or change some or all of the furniture. I charge $25 L to remove or add furniture, but that's not much of a fee so they might keep me very busy putting and taking many times. More than that I couldn't charge, however... They will just move on to one of those holodeck type rentals with changing scenes.

For a house with all the rooms you want, it's a big chore. People will come in and say take all of that out, or take some of that out, or why isn't there an island in the kitchen, or why...

    You get the idea.

I just couldn't afford the time or money to put out an offering like that, and few could, which is why you will have a hard time finding it.

When I first started my B&B system, I wanted to see how much time it would consume. So I decided to try experiments -- provide some little cabins furnished where nothing could be changed, only all of it could be removed, on the one hand, and on the other, to allow whoever came along randomly and asked to furnish a skybox differently than the way I had done it, to get to ask for anything, repeatedly.

I was totally astounded at what a time suck this was. The capacity for people to keep asking you to move a chair one inch or change the texture on a wall or replace a couch is ENDLESS. ENDLESS. ENDLESS.

I had to stop. I don't offer that kind of level of service, it's sheer insanity. You can't just "furnish a house" and expect people to happily just move in and keep quiet. they will ALWAYS ask if they can change this or that, and be angry they can't return it, to boot (because it's not on share and you can't return group-set prims).

Recently, someone complained about their wall texture and their lack of prims in a $35/wk rental. I said the wall can't be changed without it looking odd, you have to add a baseboard and change all the beams and metal, it has baked-in shadows. Bottom line, I don't want to do it, then undo it for the next person, too much work for your *US 50 cents a month* you are giving me.

The person didn't take the hint, and said they'd be willing to move to another skybox with more prims, but now they wanted furniture removed. Dividers put in. And a zen garden. The skybox was square, they didn't like it. Couldn't another shape be put in? And so on.

I said I don't build Zen gardens for just US 2.50 or $5.00 a month, even. Frankly, even US $20.

What is the price point at which I would be willing to change wallpaper, build Zen gardens, put in room dividers, add furniture?

    Ummm there isn't one.

There are very fashionable high-end communities where designers work with tenants and they pay them a fortune. I had one tenant bring in a landscaper whom she paid US $70 to put up cliffs and trees and whatnot. It was gorgeous. But to me, even $70, even $100 in real money -- it's just not worth the time involved.

So what I would do in your case is buy a house that has built in fireplaces, pools, bathroom, kitchen -- you can find them. And then add the other furniture yourself. It's fun to decorate.

Thanks for sharing your experience and insights. I admit, shamefully, this has reminded me why I gave up running my smaller scale rentals business. It particularly resonated that folk seem to have no concept of real life $ per day/week/month and how little reward it is for all these desired bespoke changes. Then inevitably they end the rental the following week.

I have the utmost respect for those with the scale or patience to offer rentals for the many who do not want premium.

This is purely subjective, but what I think I'm seeing is a trend to increased demand for those high-end Mainland parcels, including parcels neighboring Linden sailing sims, while demand has nearly vanished for lower-end Mainland.

With Bellisseria the alternative, it's hard to see many buyers drawn to a typical landlocked parcel that's adjacent neither roads nor rails. I guess Mainland tier is still cheaper than Estate rent, so for a big space with lots of prims, some barren parcel might be useful, but for folks who just want a pleasant place to hang their hat and rez a couch, it's hard to compete with Bellisseria. And for those motivated to make a unique space for themselves, it's not surprising they'd be willing to pay a lot extra for a special parcel that starts with some geographic context.

(That isn't about Mainland rentals, only ownership, for which Premium is required with either Belli or Mainland. Folks with VAT burdens face a whole different economics.)

I agree with this 100%. I say this as someone who flew my avatar along the entire easily sailable connected coastline of Satori, Nautilus and Corsica a week ago. I was surprised at the low number of parcels for sale on the water and the very high cost of those I did find. Obviously sale price may not be achieved but generally as someone who spends time in SL sailing my boats and exploring I think we have a two tier mainland, masses of abandoned land away from Linden roads, rails and water and a premium market for those interesting plots with something extra like someone to rez a boat and sail far and wide.

Just poking out into a large area of protected water doesn't automatically mean it's going to get a response. Is there a clear, easy, obvious path past it? Is the item phantom? The root prim of a linkset still needs to be on an owned parcel so there is a limit to how far it can stick out. I have a parcel with items clearly on a linden owned location that they are well aware of. It's not an issue because not only don't they impede the use of that location, they enhance it. Reporting items that don't actually impede use is just being a troll and you'll likely be dismissed as such.

I am sorry that I didn't change the picture to sunlight as it is less clear than it should have been. The encroaching pier was not phantom, was impassable and went right across the Linden waterway on the region edge. I have never seen a clearer encroachment and I am delighted to say that Linden Lab clearly agreed as the encroaching items have been fully removed and the channel is now passable.

  21. Over recent days I have been bidding on a few plots up for auction and then seeing what happens next. This has prompted me to ask a couple of questions that intrigue me:

    1. A 1024m plot in Nautilus - Shalim sold for L$117,030 (114.29 L$ per M²) and so my question is why, in such a high cost area, didn't the previous owner sell it rather than abandon? I assume the only other possibility is that for whatever reason the previous owner ceased to be premium and therefore no longer qualified for land ownership?

    2. A 10752m plot (link and picture below) in Snout on the north east tip of Heterocera sold for L$118,312 and was divided into two plots by the winning bidder. The right became 5088m and for sale at L$9.6/m2. This has now been purchased at currently on sale L$9.6/m2.

Again I wonder why the original owner didn't sell rather than abandon, I am also fascinated how long the two plots will stay on the market and if they will go for these valuations?

Another enjoyment from the action process that can be very enjoyable!

    Snout Point

Highlighted plot is currently for sale for L$300,000, the right, where the boat is for L$99,500

This is my observation as well. We've seen from the regions with homes on them that the regions receive names near release time, when they are pretty much completed. If a sailable water region has a name, I think it's staying "as is" and homes will not suddenly materialize.

Now a void region is a whole other story, and if someone has one of those near their stilt or houseboat, they can't count on their open view staying the same.

I agree 100% regarding void regions, anything could go there at any time. Or it may stay void forever. In this regard I am fascinated in which direction, and to what extent the continent will grow - is it north east toward Satori or who knows. I'm guessing that may drive void ocean to become something else as they create the increased landmass. All interesting stuff :)
