Click on the photographer's name (Opal Lei), which will take you to their Flickr. You'll see it was added to the group "Second Life Official" and was chosen from there.
Have a look through past chosen SL Flickr Pics and you'll get an idea of what types of photos are chosen. It really is a mixed bag, surreal to photo-realistic, portraits of people to magical landscapes.

No wonder your photos are often used for the Second Life website home page. The enlarged rain drops somehow seem to be symbolic of tears; and the little stuffed animal tucked underneath the girl's arm suggests maybe she is heading out from home to start a new office job in the world of grown-ups. A very atmospheric and thought-provoking photo.
