Ok, I'm am FAR from a prude as far as things go in SL.  However, when I'm camming along at an event and get smacked in the face with something, that in my opinion, should be at the Kinky event, I have to wonder about people.

I'd post the actual picture but it might belong in the adult section...

That people in Second Life can be so creative but they would rather create something like that. My real life face has now set permanently into a sucking lemons face. Great!

I was actually thinking of trying to mix Maitreya a and Gianni today I've seen that happen by accident with my collar, and it gives interesting results. I managed to get some sandals that come with feet, and a fairly thick ankle strap from Shelly Laufer. I don't need too many outfits, because Caitlin already let me change back to normal. It's just for occasional fun. But I want my AV to look as good as possible no matter what I'm wearing!!!

You might actually find some great workarounds with all your experimentation that will benefit other people wishing to cross dress. I mean, there are plenty of people in world that do this already, but I think they tend to change their body shape rather than try to make what's available fit their regular male/female avatar.

Yesterday I went for a consult to the hospital about an abscess on my bottom.
Totally unexpected I ended up in a hospital bed, yesterday afternoon an operation and in the evening back home.
Damn, life can go fast at times.

Peeve 1: Sitting is still a bit of a trouble. (So life is not always fast enough :D )
Peeve 2: My car is still in the parking lot of the hospital one city further.

But hey, apart from the limited sitting condition, I feel just fine again. That makes that last sentence a bit of topic, I guess. 🤭

Things can only get better from here onwards, Sid.

Peeve: That abscesses always seem to form in the most inaccessible and inconvenient of places.

Peeve: That people are always happy to receive my money but not supply the goods in a timely manner (not SL of course where it is all instant in that respect, so that's a pet delight really, instant gratification.)

Someone has one currently listed for sale on ebay with a bizarre price tag on it of Canadian $311.50 (£183.81 UK equivalent), after knocking 11% off the original price, "some fading from wear, small hole in armpit".

Random IMs like the following I got:

"Hello Miss, allow me, an obedient *****, to kiss your magnificent leg?"

Who are they? They aren't even in the same server as me, so how in the world did they find me? And did they really think that was gonna work? Like naw bro, take yourself on somewhere else.

Weirdos gonna weird! That peeves me too.

They've probably found you in a group listing, see you're online, feeling a bit horny, and decided to send a random IM. Sending 10 or 20 similar IMs out, they probably get 9 or 19 responses like yours of total disgust, but might drop lucky and someone takes it as a compliment and hooks up with them.

It has totally changed the avatar. Maybe it is no caps or crop tops in what the AI is using as reference for "watercolor"?

I totally agree with you. AI, as we all know, is only as good as whatever has been programmed into it, and it would make sense to make a more demure image. I guess if we all were using the same software, we'd start to see more similarities, like there was that fun software a couple of years ago (Toon Me) where you'd upload a photo of your avatar (or real life self), and be given four different cartoon versions.

It all seems very clever, and must have taken plenty of man (woman/person) hours to program. It's hard to go back into Second Life itself and see myself without all the make-up, as it were, after creating an AI representation of my avatar.

Without going into too much detail, cos privacy and respect, yeah, I've lost dear people, and found out later they had gone the way of all things IRL. It sucks, but it happens.

My SL mom was the first. A longstanding contributor to my home sim's community (was there from the early days) dropped a while back, and we suspect she has passed on, as she's had no online activity on any platform in the past year, and one of my artist gods, and someone I wish I could have been better friends with, an admin of New Babbage, has been MIA for a long time now also, and is presumed lost to us. We keep his builds intact as an homage to his awesomeness, and I intend to build and name a park in his honor someday, as a permanent part of our sim. His work inspired my own, and if not for him I would never have thought to undertake a project as big as some of the ones I've worked on.

Our cemeteries have memorials for many others, including people I never got to meet, and I make sure not to walk on their graves, because those are "real" memorials for real people who are loved by those still living. When giving tours I make sure to point out the memorials, and tell whatever I know about the people who are "buried" there, and ask people to bear in mind that these are something more than RP props. Even virtual spaces can have sacred locations, in my opinion.

I'd share more personal beliefs on the subject, but people would probably just pooh-pooh whatever they don't believe in. Suffice it to say, I will be happy to see my friends again someday, because they are dearly missed.

There are memorials all over Second Life that I have stumbled across from time to time. Somewhere among the sailing sims near to Marmedunc (can't exactly remember where) there is a memorial, and I am sure there must be a permanent memorial in world for our recently departed CEO Ebbe Linden aka Ebbe Altberg, who passed rather young at 57 (a temporary one was put on one of the SLB sims).

Ceremonies take place in world, floating candles are lit, everyone makes a mark on someone else, and I think it's very touching to show respect and not walk on graves, even in a virtual world.

We just never know where some people have gone, but it would only be those without empathy that would pooh-pooh these memorials.

I find it childish and petty that you would mention a lawsuit because you disagree with what I said. I'm a project manager for a large construction firm, so I'm well-versed in fraud law. Accordingly, since LL willingly reimbursed me for their deceptive advertising practice, there is no case for fraud.

We all know it was deceptive advertising, even you. To scam usually implies planning and coordination in the deception, usually for monetary gain. To scam will always mean to deceive, but to deceive will not always mean to scam. So, this concludes our duologue since I have better things to do with my time.

    ok

I am only responsible for what I say, not for how you choose to take it.

You were the one that brought up the word "scam". Does that not mean therefore there would be a need for a lawsuit? If Linden Lab or anyone else were attempting to mislead and defraud and scam people?

I’ve never had an issue with her. And I would certainly have taken my other post about her photos as a compliment because they were well done and I had a hard time telling. So my suggestion for a new thread because as I thinker with photoshop’s AI filters I’d love to see what is possible .  I suppose my straight forward no sugar coating posts do not go over well in translation.  I am sure what she said was just in a hurtful place and she felt cornered. I’m not going to hold it against her and I really hope she does post again or in a new thread to show her talents.  :) I’ll start using those horrid things more often.

I just meddled where I didn't ought to have meddled - as usual! - and ended up just making her more angry. She obviously has something else going on and yes, something very probably was lost in translation.

Someone else started a new thread about AI pictures, but it hasn't proven very popular just yet. We are an eclectic bunch here on the forums, that's for sure. We're bound to have little clashes from time to time.

Do we? I'm no legal expert, are you?

A customer was promised a key product feature which cannot be delivered. Regardless wether this legal, it is frustrating to the customer. LL is providing a luxury service, frustrated customers is not what you want in that kind of business.

    No, I'm not actually.

    I'm just a basement-dwelling pleb, obviously.

I'm one of those customers who read about the new 2048 Premium Plus homes and looked into the pros and cons of same, including the likelihood of there being limited availability in the early stages of release.

I chose not to take the gamble.

What else do you want me to say?

I have to respectfully disagree. When you roll out a new plan it should be 100% ready and this wasn't. LL collected and is collecting money that they knew wasn't going to give people the new homes it offered. That's a scam.

I'm not spoiling my SL experiences by going back to the Premium plan I had and dropping the PP plan I upgraded to. To me, it's the prudent thing to do. I also don't have the time to sit idly by playing Tiddlywinks while I wait for a 2048㎡ land parcel to open up.

    Thank you for your input.

So, if it's a scam, maybe you need to be seeking legal advice, suing Linden Lab?

But we all know it's NOT a scam, even you.

When you pay for virtual land with or without a home, you expect to get what you paid for. Linden Labs, IMO, is scamming its members since there are still no homes with land available to members who purchased a Premium Plus membership. They have all the models for us to look at, so what's the problem? Are we supposed to believe there is still no land allotted and developed for them to drop the homes on? Premium Plus was first offered on June 23rd, 2022, so I find it difficult to believe they don't have parcels available now.

The L$650 "weekly stipend" goes to waste because you have to pay "tiers" with it, and the cheapest 2048㎡ Mainland parcel is two times that amount, so how is that a Plus seems more like a Minus to me? I don't need 140 groups, 160 stored IMs, concierge phone support, and the Linden Home concierge service is useless since there are no homes. So, I'll cancel my Premium Plus and its bogus 2048㎡ mythical homes, and go back to Premium.

There really is no scam. Linden Homes are always subject to availability. No one forces any of us to sign up to any kind of premium membership either. As has been explained by Abnor Mole above (the Moles and Lindens are in charge here, by the way), it is recommended you (we all) read up about land ownership.

It would be a shame for you to spoil your own Second Life experiences by having the knee jerk reaction of downgrading your membership, just because, at this current time, there are no Ranch Homes available.

The Lindens and Moles are constantly releasing new regions with Linden Homes, and also other residents often will release a home when they decide to go for a different theme, so just keep your eyes open, and keep checking back with the website.

In the meantime, please read the link Abnor Mole has provided for you above.

I really don't care if you post process the heck.out of your photos.  Don't care if you post your AI photos here either although I do see someone started a thread specifically for that.

I do not like uncalled for nasty remarks.  My replies were removed because they were simply quotes of those nasty comments.  I said nothing whatsoever to warrant the personal attack.

Please don't take it to heart, Rowan. She just hated all of us. I don't know why. Maybe she had not been able to take a sh1t that morning, or her grandmother died or some other reason. I wasn't much keen on her saying that we were all monsters though, and I know something there may have been lost in translation, but for sure, having tried some AI software, even the most tweaked mesh avatars don't look anywhere near as pretty as anything the AI bots can come up with. It's all clever stuff, but I think the four of us that remained in that thread took a share of her unfounded wrath.

Her problem, not yours, mine, or anyone else's.

  16. I haven't really got to grips with this idea yet, but can see why, to someone on another thread, we all look like "monsters" to them in Second Life! There is such a difference between what we can actually create in Second Life and what artificial intelligence can do for us.

As I am not able to spend much time on this currently, must to my frustration, I described my Second Life avatar into AI software, and it came up with quite a nice version of "her". I asked for blonde hair with pink tips, it gave me the right blonde hair and put the pink tips on the trees.

The AI version of my avatar is certainly a lot easier on the eye.

You too??!! I had the exact same fear of a janitor tripping over the cord to the servers and making my virtual reality go Poof! Thought that's what they meant by Snowcrashed. In my case though having the addict mind set of protecting my supply, I went through the actual pain of learning how to set up my own locally hosted opensourced server software so that couldn't happen. It is only me who trips over my cords now and makes my reality go poof.
