    Your wall is nice Caitlin.

I have picture frames on table in lounge and big one in the main bedroom (that scrolls though my photos)

BUT I think your wall has a decorators look.  I like how you used same frames of different sizes.

Oh, I am a terrible decorator.....getting stuff in my home takes me ages and those frames:...ahem, it's a set in one piece I purchased on MP, here.....all I had to do was drag pics in the right spots.....

I have lost one post this week, without notification but as it turned out it was swept away with someone else's post to which I accidentally replied instead of to the OP - so I was collateral damage. Oh well.

    well, make that two. LOL.

  3. Hah, not talking about by facebook - or other social wall, nope. I am going to share a wall in my SL home, on which I have several pictures in frames. Pictures I took myself and which I like enough to have them on display whenever I sit on my sofa when writing articles.

For some reason, I love to have some pictures - even though they are all online and on my harddrive - framed and all in my home. Gives me a nice feeling.

I am sure I am not the only one doing this for decoration in their SL home?
Do you want, or dare, to show off your wall with pics in your SL home, your hideaway or secret bunker?

Here is mine. Ah yes, one image is blurred because the unfortunate incident in which I ended up being called a stalker  errr ... I mean because of privacy!  Yes, that was it, privacy and well, mature content.

Why would an advertiser want to pay for an ad that get seen for the 2-3 seconds it takes to teleport? The only way the ad would work is if LL were to increase the TP time. I'm sure everyone would appreciate that. Oh, It's Saturday! I guess this discussion has run it's course.

Oh I dunno, I have been in teleports long enough to watch the complete LOTR Trilogy...:P

  6. While I think your question should be in the Adult forum - since you speak of Adult Magazine/blog - I am going to try to answer anyway.

Congratulations on 1.000 views, a nice start!

Advertising blogs is not something you should do inworld and most certainly not pay for inworld!

(Second Life) bloggers promote their site via Social Media outside of SL on platforms such as Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, Plurk and ASN. All those platforms have very large communities of people following Second Life blogs and this is where you will find your audience, of course within the guidelines/rules of said sites (some do not allow Adult content at all), and it is all for free. Well, it requires time and effort, that is all.

I, for one, have never paid nor advertised my blog inworld, yet I get readers, by putting it in my profile and being active in several online communities.

    Good luck with your blog!

I'll keep it simple for a change.

Would you put up with an advertising screen during teleportation on non-premium accounts?

    I say, go for it.

But then, I am a premium account so I would expect to NOT have them. For non premiums, well pff, go ahead and advertise.

This is pretty smart thinking. :-)  (And I am not premium, but I can turn off tp screen.)

Ooh, I didn't realise one can turn the tp screen off, probably a feature in TPV's as I cannot find the option in my LL Viewer?

  8. Ah, I have one, although I hardly enable it because I am rarely busy. Well and IM's are even more rare...but here it is:

'HELLO, THIS IS CAITLINS OVERLY EXCITED AUTORESPONDER!! HOW ARE YOU?! CAIT IS NOT AVAILABLE BUT I WILL LET HER KNOW YOU WERE IN HER IM!!! HAVE A NICE DAY!!! BYE BYE!! '

(Not completely original, I saw it a while ago from someone and sort of borrowed it)

  10. ..or in human speak: 'live long and prosper' ~ Dr. Spock

I say, rest in peace and thank you so much for all the joy  and inspiration he has given me - and so many others, in real life and virtual worlds.

Am I sad? Yeah maybe a bit, but Dr. Spock had a 83 years human life, in which he gave so much. I, for one, by the news of his passing today...got reminded of the saturday nights when Star Trek was on tv, sitting on the sofa with my younger sister....in PJ, wet hairs from the shower, and munching crisps from a small bowl and: we got cola, cos: saturday night..and then to bed after the episode.

Good times. "it's life, Jim, but not as we know it'...

Let us not forget searching the forums themselves, rather than repeat a question that has probably been answered a dozen times.

Half the time when I ask someone who has reported that "SL ate" some object, what search term they are using, they have no idea what I am talking about. They have no idea they can search inventory!

Many simply are unaware that they can search out information themselves. Or, I suspect, they simply consider others' time less valuable than their own. How lovely to have minions to look up information for you!

If we wanted to be pedantic we could say that all of us are capable of searching for answers for ourselves.

So where do we draw the line?

True, I've been known to say that I wonder how some people who post here mangage to get out of bed every morning with out hurting themselves.

And we've had people who posted repeated questions without ever looking at the links we provided them.  Those people I find to be most annoying.

But my general attitude still has been it's not my job to police the Forums.

But then there is the question of how do we respond to these people which Sassy alludes to.  LL's (funny how his initials abbreviate) replies could be considered by some rude, and given the amount of them, he could even be accused of trolling, though staying within certain limits, carefully avoiding being banned.

So is there a right or wrong way to respond to them?

Bolded part by me, just to ask..since when is it considered 'pedantic' to point people to 'how' and 'where' they can find the information they seek, rather than just be happy, or thankful if you will, you got an answer at all - and it is even an answer that will help you with future questions?

Isn't that the part of support that is needed? Guidance and pointing out on how to find the answers one seeks, rather than have it delivered in a ready made, foolproof package which does nothing for the learning process?

All the times I have given out LM's inworld to people asking for 'a nice snow sim' (on 15 december !!) or for all the popular current events did not at all learn them how to look them up by themselves, but made me (and many others) eyeroll till I saw the back of my skull and led me to just ignore them and it continues as long as people will indeed, for the sake of getting over those questions, give them what they ask in a non supportive way, like a pacifier: here is your LM, now be quiet!

  12. Nah, he is not wrong. As you yourself experience, it happens and it doesn't only happens in (any) forum.

I have no answer on why people think it is 'normal' to just ask random, easily google-able (Heh, I think I invented a word!) questions.

I've been on some sort of crusade myself, not here..but inworld where it happens in groupchat. Blogger groups, where bloggers (!!) ask "anyone got the LM to Collabor88?''  or 'can someone give the LM to the Arcade?'.
For some these may seem legitimate questions, but believe me in fashion- and bloggergroups....Argh? They should be able to type the complete coordinates to those events by heart with their eyes closed! I gave up though, and by now I am not so supportive and quick with answers anymore, for some reason I lost the fun of helping them - after handing out the LM to FaMeshed for the 100000 th time..), and my : ' use search' wasn't appreciated, because: hey, gimme the LM!

Makes me wonder how some people manage to survive in their daily life.

Anyway, no...why this keeps happening? Is it laziness? Is it an attitude of expecting to be spoonfed, because there is too much to find, search etc?

    Hi Caitlin!!

This is the first I've even hear about all this, but I generally stay in the animation or mesh sections. Now, I want to hear the whole story. Anyone got a blog link that talks all about this?

Pst.... is your inworld camera broken?

    Hi Medhue,

I am afraid I don't understand what you mean with the whole story and why it should be on a blog? This is just a thread about these forums?

My inworld camera is not broken at all, I make tons of pictures every day :)

Why, Caity? Your English has always been extremely coherent and cogent.

In fact, you are one of the very few who would be able to post in both.

    Why thank you!

I will return, to both if possible, when the time has arrived I will feel safe enough in here. For now I am not convinced and will keep on lurking when not logged in and take hours and hours to compose a reply - when actually logged in as now -  that will be safe enough.

I did indeed and I totally understand. The current, and past years, environment here in this forum, created the opposite of   a safe place for people expressing themselves.
