  1. Just want to reiterate about merchant reporting tools:

I have been uploading more things to the MP. On Xstreet I could input an item name and see how many had been sold within a given time period. That also helped me see if enhancements were increasing sales.

No more. Every time I want to see how many of something has sold, I have to import the data into Excel -- much less convenient.

  2. All of my things are mod, so I spend a lot of time teaching my customers how to mod their things -- I have lots of notecards I hand out, plus most of my Picks are help files. I have taken this information and made webpages on editing linked prims, tinting, and inventory loss recovery, with pictures and Torley videos.

You can find them here http://lagalleriasl.blogspot.com/ -- they are listed in the right column. I have been referring customers there who want to know how to do something or other, or who don't know how to search for or recover missing inventory, and they seem to find the pages very helpful.

  3. This should not be overlooked, because it is very important and addresses what most of us agree was the #1 issue -- communication.

Brooke (or someone who talks to her) is reading the forum and taking notes of concerns. She evidently also read the merchant surveys. She has an agenda based on the feedback she has read.

I feel like we have some hope now of forward movement -- and when there is no movement, at least we can know why -- and whether or not it is somewhere in the pipeline.

The level of responsiveness is very encouraging to me.

  4. It is hard for me to evaluate what might retain more new ppl because I loved SL from the first moment. Even the scariness was thrilling. I found a group of ppl who took me in and answered my questions. I played with Barbie -- I mean, Pamela -- constantly, fussing with her system hair and clothes, and yes I identified with her. Instantly hooked.

I did a couple of informal surveys of what Myers-Briggs personality types ppl in some SL forums (Xstreet and SLU)  were, and found that (duh) certain types are far more likely to take to SL than others (and are found far more often in SL than RL). Those others -- I think it would be about as difficult to get them to stay in SL as get a cat to stay in the bathtub.

I did a blog post about the surveys, which can be found here.

  5. I agree -- Pink told us almost a year ago we would be getting enhanced data tools with the wonderful new MP.

I would be willing to pay for even more tools above basic level we had at Xstreet -- but a flat fee (or better yet, a perk of the Premium acct. No way would I pay another 5%.

  6. Just because someone has never seen a March decline doesn't mean there isn't one. And yes, I learned my first year in business that if you don't do any Xmas promotions your sales will die.

December through February were my highest sales ever, and March was a little less, so I did see a slight decline. That's doesn't say anything about there being a general decline but it comports with my own data.

I would be interested in seeing any and all data of this sort. The more sales data -- on sales in general and my own -- I have the better I can market my stuff. I am really flying blind here.

  7. Wow, all this information is much appreciated Brooke!  I do agree with the points made by the other posters, but just knowing what is being worked on and the priorities, whether or not we completely agree with them, is pure gold.  It is the first ever I have felt hopeful and positive about the MP.

  8. Yes I think you may be right about that.

@ Tatiana -- my store best selling sort is pretty normal too now, very similar to relevant. I have not looked at search for the whole MP though -- I had to quite doing that, it was so disturbing.
