I don't like the idea of sales in SL, including 50L Fridays and such. To me, it would seem like a betrayal of customers who paid the full amount for an item not long before. That's the reason why I've never done anything along those lines.

I also dislike things like "everything at 10L" or "everything is free"  when a place is closing down. How could I face a person who paid the normal price one day and then found that the same item is free or 10L the next day? I wouldn't like to face them.

I agree completely Phil. That's why I have sales when something is released. I don't want anyone to ever regret paying the price that is on something, or wondering if they will feel foolish for not waiting for the price on something to go down.

  3. If I had some service like that I would like it to show things ranked:  top/bottom sellers, locations, sales per day of week, top customers.  It is important to have data on what is not selling well so I can delete and get something that is earning its prim cost.

  4. I just get an error message saying it can't find that page.  It might be my computer.

I just think it has been too long since we were promised more and better reporting tools and have had to make do with fewer and worse.

  5. Yes I can download it in bits, but I like to be able to download the whole month at once, too.  I mean, we have no reporting tools to speak of, can we at least still be able to down load ONE WHOLE month???

Does anyone realize that we are trying to run businesses here?  Is anyone aware of how crippled the data reporting is?  I mean, my top customer every month is Marketplace Linden. And Marketplace is buying stuff like: Order #15836673, Item #28909989 .  Very helpful.  To get any useful data I have to go in and strip all that out, and then add it back in from the marketplace data.

I think you're forgetting that these are digital products we sell. There are no production costs after the first one. Once the cost of your uploads is covered (if you even uploaded anything), that's it. Everything else is profit.

    Something to keep in mind.

I seem to continue having overhead tho -- tier on 4 sims, advertising, etc. Also, I count the cost of my time, since I am an employee of the store -- it takes a lot longer to pay for my time than it does to cover the cost of uploads.

Well, having 4 sims isn't a requirement for running a business. That's on you. You could do it on a reasonably sized parcel with temp rezzers and a catalog. Sure, it wouldn't look as nice, I won't argue that. But it is possible.

The argument for time is kind of flimsy, too, since it doesn't have a defined fix price. It's set by opinion- what you feel your time is worth.

Like it or not, the only real costs of creating are uploads. It's why I enjoy scripting. All it costs is time, and for most of us hanging around in SL, we've got plenty of that.

I am not talking about the bare minimum "requirments" to be able to set things for sale.  I am not making any "argument" that my time is worth what I say it is.  I am not making any argument at all  -- I am just telling you what my "real expenses" are to run a business that supports my family (and pays a PT employee $16 an hr). What you think that has to do with some operation run on the cheap out of catalogue I don't know.

Oh this is a good deal -- you can "rent" furniture for free!  Buy it, use it til you find something else you like better, then return it for a refund. Can't beat that!

Hey .. that's a GREAT idea. I want some land that I can get that deal with too. I'll take a Sim please, and in a few months when I'm tired of it, just turn it back in and ask for a refund of the Sim charges I paid.

Hey Linden Lab .. I got a GREAT idea for a new business model! (LOL)

Some will say that there is plenty of free stuff everywhere -- but this way you can settle for nothing but premium content!

  9. Every now and then I list, say, a kitchen in the dining room category or something like that. They tell me they delisted it for that reason, I go put it in the right category and relist it.  I don't think there is a grand conspiracy of competitors monitoring my listings -- just someone noticed it was in the wrong place. Not a big deal (there are plenty of big deals to fret about, for sure, but this is not one of them).
