As far as Second Life goes as you say, I see quite clearly that whether on the mainland or on a private island, if I buy a lot and it has my name on the title of that land, I am the owner of that parcel of land; I'm not renting it.
Peculiar that nobody including LL agrees with you.
But forge ahead clinging to your belief anyway.

Hardly a day goes by that I don’t have to explain why the Casper redelivery terminal does not show the customer’s every purchase. and these are people who have been in second life for many years. Most are also unaware that they can re-deliver to themselves through the marketplace. They just assume that I have some record of everything everyone has bought over the past 15 years.
* Actually I do have a record of everything, because I download transactions, but not somewhere publicly available like the redelivery terminal.

Try telling that to people who had no idea he would become a lunatic.
Plenty of people both there and in the US and elsewhere admire Putin because they admire authoritarianism and despise democracy. Plenty of political leaders and media opinion influencers have for years and even within the last week expressed their respect and admiration for him (as well as their contempt for Ukraine).
Ukraine is the current tip of the spear in the battle between authoritarianism and democracy but The battle is being waged worldwide, including in Russia.

This is not a strong point of SL.
Here you don't really meet the world.
Here you only meet wealthy folksI specified “to me”. You (and others) may learn nothing from people in SL but I do.

My earlier comment was inspired only by the e-mails I have sometimes received from a very different prince who has kindly offered me exclusive business opportunities in the past. I would not care to offend him or anyone else.
Hey I know that guy! Small world.

One thing I think I learned - though only from one person - is that the rich are different from regular folk.
My understanding is that you need more than one person in order to make a generalization. (See: The Great Gasby.)

Not to be picky, but "Democrat" is a singular noun, as in "Barrack Obama is a Democrat." Democrats is the plurral noun. Democratic (capitalized) is the adjective for the Democratic political party, and democratic, not capitalized is the adjective for political systems that rely on elections of their politicians by the general public. The Republican party under our previous president started using "Democrat" as an adjective as a means of distancing their rival party's proper name from the general idea of a democratic political system.
We talk funny here, y’all.

As long as you measure twice and cut once, you Americans should be good with that imperial thingy.
I zthink the reason we cling to it, is that it corresponds more to body parts: thumb, foot, big step. No clue about mile, or weights.

My knowledge of individual American states isn't that big either.
Texas is big, warm, cattle land, Gas Monkey Garage, oil, Houston, Dallas and Republican. That's about it.
O yeah, president GWB lives there right?I don’t know what Gas Monkey Garage is,, but yes to the rest. Almost all large cities are Democrat.

I learned that Brits have turkey for Christmas dinner.
And that Brussels sprouts must be on the table for Christmas whether they are eaten or not.
And I learned how to make a Christmas pudding (in SL).

I have been in forums for a long time, starting with Usenet. But most forums are about some topic you are expected to more or less stick to. Or are so non moderated as to be unusable.
This forum, and inworld, there is no overall topic. It’s a big living room. You talk about almost anything. You learn where people are from and how they see things.
What I have found most interesting is how the US is perceived by those outside, which of course varies from person to person. It is astonishing to me how minutely aware of American culture and history many non Americans are, compared with how aware most Americans are of the nuances and history of other cultures. It’s so interesting, for example, to hear how non Americans view Americans’ current battle to preserve democracy. While we could find ourselves being kicked while we are down, and maybe deservedly so, we find that is not so often the case.

Since English isn't your native language, I want to point something out to you.
While you are at it, come over here to the US and teach the same lesson. Also about your and you’re, their, they’re, there, its and it’s. And SOOOO much more. Europeans speak and write English better than we do.

To me the most fascinating and valuable thing about Second Life is how it brings people from all over the world together to share perspectives and insights about different cultures.
What insights about other countries/cultures have you had due to SL?

Why, oh why is owning land in SL so expensive?
It’s much less so than in the past. I used to pay 295L per region, now after discounts and fee reduction available at the time to everyone I pay 179L.
Also I now pay higher marketplace commission and higher fees to cash out.

I'm fairly convinced that some of the land barons ARE Lindens. I may be wrong - and you would think there would rules against that. If there are such rules for LL staff, I'd love to see them made open and public. (Oh, and enforced).
But then again, I would also like to see the discounts offered to 'land barons' made public. Perhaps we should make one of those 'freedom of information' requests.
Convinced by what? Conspiracy theories?
The FOIA doesn’t apply to private businesses or individuals. You can’t get private information from your next door neighbor or work colleague.

There is this particular horizontal activity in SL which residents can choose to partake, refrain from, or perhaps seek but are denied. Those who
choosedo not to participate would be called, or call themselves, chaste, virgins, aces, asexual, or even incels. How do you view others who have this particular status within SL?
I am pretty sure I am not the only one who suspects some people might not be having SLex because they are already having plenty of RL sex.
I guess they might call themselves “satisfied”.
