  1. Bots, zombies... what's the difference? *goes to the store to buy more ammo*
  2. It sounds like there might be a scripted object that is spamming your groups. Two days ago did you accept any strange items from anyone? Click any odd signs? Do you have items and objects rezzed inworld? Have you been in any busy sandboxes lately?
  3. I suppose one good thing is this gives us an excuse to trim our friends list a bit. :smileywink: Silver lining, and I can blame it on "SLitterbook" :smileytongue:
  4. I had to stop and think about this (dangerous, I know). :smileytongue: When someone says "The Wall", is it strange that the first thing in my head was Pink Floyd? I'm betting someone from Germany and a Vietnam vet would automatically think other things (and probably have the same negative reaction, maybe). Sorry for the lame derail, Keli. Carry on. :smileywink:
  5. Keli Kyrie wrote: So just the Feed or the Wall?!? That kind of works doesn't it? Did you see the Feed on SL today or OMG did you see what Quinn posted on my wall. Wait... are we talking about the Berlin Wall? Or the Vietnam War Memorial wall? Or the Pink Floyd version with the creepy guy and the ... flowers? I'm so confused...
  6. That's the first thing I did, set everything to Friends only. And I didn't think I'd have to disable IMs and emails because I didn't expect a huge rush of activity -- but I realize I'll have to change that now. *glares at Keli* :smileymad:
  7. Keli Kyrie wrote: So now that we have this Social Networking Thingy how do we refer to it? What is it name? Anyone have any suggestions? I like SLitter, because it has "litter" in it. It's also what you'll probably do with your wrists when you open your inbox and there's 497 new messages about your feed wall.
  8. I wish I could remember where I read it, but the idea was we should be wary of any visitors from outer space, primarily because they're more likely to be predatory than benevolent humanoids with slightly different foreheads. :smileywink: If our own planet is any indication, the predators are the entities that develop most of the intelligence and subsequent technology while the prey remains prey. Which, presumably, is why any space aliens we meet will be the ones that have dominated their own planets and systems and wouldn't be looking to share as much as to take to sustain themselves. I really wish I could find the text.. it was kind of scary.
  9. Anaiya Arnold wrote: My advice is that we all learn to stand about mooing while facing the same direction. The aliens will mistake us for cows and leave us alone once they get bored "tipping" us. Unlike cows, humans like being tipped so it's win-win all the way. ...... . . . . . . !! (head explodes from the sheer awesomeness of Anaiya's logic) /me steeples her fingers. "Yes... yes.. it sounds crazy, but, it just... might... work..." (runs outside and starts practicing while ignoring strange looks from the neighbors)
  10. I'm having problems with prims disappearing upon enabling higher settings too, and not only in snapshots... I think it's a Phoenix bug or weird driver bug. The Nvidia computer does this with basic shaders enabled. The ATI computer, however, seems to work sorta-normally.
  11. @Suella -- Preparations for the Invasion are proceeding; the inhabitants seem more preoccupied arguing about fiction and the asteroid belt than to be paying attention to our devious plans. Please inform High Commander Zorkon that we are on schedule. However... we might have a slight problem. Although most of the future breeding stock and sides of bacon seem to have accepted their fates, there might be a few who choose to... resist. I have to admit I have never seen this before: Lanas Criss wrote: Karate Kickaroni (!!!) Should we be concerned?
  12. Winter Ventura wrote: incubators for their young. I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
  13. I like your explanation, actually. It's certainly more optimistic than what Stephen Hawking had to say. :smileysurprised:
  14. I'm either asking a hypothetical question or gathering information for our new alien overlords, take your pick. :smileywink: Mmmm, bacon! (And for the record, I would be one of those stupid enough to pick up the light grenade to see what it read. :smileytongue:)
  15. /me nods and puts a checkmark in the column under "Pests, with Reservations".
  16. If (when) aliens finally get around to invading and conquering Earth, what happens to us, the humans? Do we become: LaborersFoodFuelCuriousities / Toys / Pets / Zoo Exhibits on some distant planetPestsor "Other"? (P.S. Second Life, lag, Zindra, lag, etc. etc.)
  17. The magic wand works in a pinch but usually the green screen is removed by Select > Color Range; adjust sliders until you get a good, crisp outline and then maybe even Select > Expand pixels by 1, then Delete. Try YouTube. Just do a seach for green screen. :smileywink:
  18. That is a helpful video and what spurred me to try Firestorm a couple days ago. And, again, I hope things smooth themselves out... I really do.
  19. Yep, I saw that and I did try one of the alternate skins... but it's not just that. It's learning to deal with everything rearranged, extra clicks to get to the simple things and ... well, just many things. And I had Phoenix loaded on the other screen and looked at it and wondered, why do I have to make all these changes? For what? Yes I'm a masochist but not for this kind of thing.
  20. For what it's worth, I'm firmly in the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" crowd. Phoenix runs and looks great. Firestorm is like someone holding your head underwater.... horrible, dark and depressing. I am not happy about (rumoredly) being forced into using it. If these are the sacrifices we're making for mesh, do we really need mesh?

When you're presented with a branch off the main storyline (or a really juicy opportunity for a thread derail) and you imagine story components ahead of time but don't have the good sense not to take pictures and upload them ASAP, and then later reviewing what you pictured/posted and thinking... ewww, why did I just say/do that? "icky"
  23. Marigold spent about a week in the hospital and was checked out just today, fully recovered. To celebrate her miraculous recovery, Janelle and Marigold went to their favorite roadside picnic table and had broccoli soup, coffee and donuts and both had a wonderful, completely PG-rated time.
  24. ........ (I'm thinking they should just label both of us "Rated R" from now on. Why is it every thread derail we do always ends up on the icky side of PG-13?)
