Just because someone says they are something , it doesn't mean it's true, especially in SL. If I had a dollar for everyone who told me they were a Super Model/Astronaut/Brain Surgeon, I'd have....a few dollars at least. I know they aren't, because I'm one. And I never see any of them at the meetings.

Why is it so hard to get into this place?
Brenda Connolly replied to Brenda Connolly's topic in General Discussion Forum
A new wrinkle today. Now it tells me my password and or user name are incorrect, even though I know I'm entering them correctly, as a way to start the Login Dance. Now I know why I stayed away from here for so long. -
Coby Foden wrote: wiked Anton wrote: you obviously have no idea, or just like to waste time....good luck with that Just the opposite, I tried to save time. I was in hurry like OP, so I had no time to fill it all. Anyway I did answer the main question. I'm with you. That's the only question that needs to be answered, the rest is just the usual data mining. Yes, SL is infinitely safer than RL. What happens in SL doesn't really happen to YOU.. There is no log off or TP away in RL. You can't create a new account if things go badly. You don't get unlimited alts.

I can't say for sure what trending is, I pretty much avoid mysecondlife, but you have no control over what goes there. Mine is full of it as well, just as every other SL users is. I don't know if it takes the most liked comments and puts them up or what, but don't worry about it.

Actually, that would help me to identify people to stay away from. -

Yeah. I'd say it was a Chinese Fiiredrill, but I'm sure some PC Policetwit would report me for racial insensitvity so I'll just call it Linden Logic -

OK, is it just me, or is logging into the various parts of this website an exercise in futility. I go through the same thing everytime I try. Login at the main page, get sent to the Dashbored (tm). Use the Community link to get to the forum, and have to sign in again. IF I'm lucky, I get here logged in, but usually I get a 404 error, perhaps several, or I get sent to the Help page. I go back to the forum, login and get sent back. If I go back to the main page, where I'm logged in and try to get to the forum, I get there unlogged, and when I try to log in, any combination of the above happens. The, if I want to go to the MP, I have to login again????? I feel like Maxwell Smart walking through all those doors. -

Did you send an Abuse Report for the place? That's the first step to getting it closed down. -

How do I add Funds to my Account?!!!
Brenda Connolly replied to Angelle Marquette's question in Account
It's fairly simple. Go to your Dashbored . Click Account, then Billing Information. From there you can add a payment source such as a credit card or paypal. -
Ever since this "new and improved" website/blogorama thingie was unleashed on us, oen of my peeves has been the Dashbored. (tm) I've always felt it was a visual clutterfest with too much info , that at least in my case is pretty much useless. I don't need a listing of my groups when I'm not in world. I don't care which of my friends are online when I'm not. I can go directly to the blogs if I want to read them, yadda yadda. For the most part, I avoid the thing and just use direct bookmarks to the areas I am interested in. I know not everyone feels this way, so options would be nice. Way back when, one of the now departed Lindens, I think it was Blue, said on these very pages that a customizable Dashbored (tm) was being considered. Sadly, he is gone and I guess that idea went with him. The road to Hell is paved with broken and forgotten promises and ideas from the Providers.

Is goodwill running thin?

Overreact much? It's a joke. It's fine if you don't find it funny, but no need to write a dissertation just to prove you're the smartest kid in the class. -

Just to add a little insight on the New Jersey angle. last year Sports betting besides horse racing was approved by our legislature last year, but was pending lifting of federal bans on sports wagering in all but 4 states. Governor Christie said this week, that NJ will begin to allow sports betting at casinos and horse tracks in the fall, regardless of what the feds say. As far as online wagering goes, the bill passed by the legislature was vetoed by Christie citing constitutional and regulatory concerns. He is awaiting the submission of a new bill.

Why I gave up my home

I'll try to rezz stuff and it will leave inventory and not show up, so I've had to log off, clear cache, log on and try again. That sounds like something different to what 16 meant. The problem she meant is trying to drag something from your inventory, it not rezzing, and you getting the message that the land owner doesn't allow it. It's because the end point of where you tried to rez it is on the next parcel and the process doesn't recognise objects in between where it should rez, such as a floor or wall. I've been getting that as well, as well as logging back in to find multiple copies of the previously non rezzed items. It's like 2007 all over again. Now we just need to bring back Manitenance Wednesdays. -
I'm going to go against the grain and say do exactly what you want to do. I'll assume you've thought it out and aren't simply rage quitting. Why let your account sit dormant if you don't plan on coming back? I don't know if it will make a difference server wise for the rest of us, but it's worth a shot. There is nothing wrong with deciding you are done with SL once and for all, and making a clean break. I actually figured on doing the same thing if that time comes for me.

Paying with credit cards
Brenda Connolly replied to Rasputtin Szczepanski's topic in General Discussion Forum
I use GreenDot and it works without any problems. It's pretty simple. You go into WalMart, CVS, Walgreens, 7 Eleven, etc and buy the Visa card for $4.95 I think. You set up your account , provide a name and address, assign a PIN and you are off. You "fill" the card several ways. You can buy a refill card at the above named stores for $20 or more, plus a $4.95 fee, take the card home and enter the number online. You can also fund through a bank account or PayPal, which doesn't incure the fee as far as I know. Since you have a PIN, the card can be used for the same types of transactions as any debit card. You can make purchases at most stores, or make withdrawls from ATM's. The one caveat is there are monthly fees, which can be waived if you conduct a certain amount of business with GreenDot. I've used it for over 2 years now, since getting rid of all my credit cards and have never had any issues with SL. I've been playing since 2007, and giving LL money has always been a problem at times, which is mind boggling .
