Ok, thx guys:) I will wrap a transparent sphere around it then. I think it won't even change the LI, since pathfinding objects always have 15 LI.
-
Thank you Rolig:) I actually used a sphere. I just though there may be a better solution, like downloading the sculptie texture and editing it somehow.

Hi, I bought a sculpt map from marketplace. It is a skull looking in Y direction. Since I want to use it for pathfinding, I need it to look in X direction. Rotating does not work, because once I add a pathfinding script, it will remove the rotation. Can I somehow fix that, for example by rotating the sculptie texture in GIMP maybe?

Youtube is a great way to promote SL. So I am wondering why there is so few videos in the official Youtube channel, none of them tutorials or promotional videos. Tutorials really help people to learn new skills and promotional videos are a great way to showcase SL. Why not have a Lynda.com-style learning section on the SL-homepage with video tutorials to all kinds of topics? This would help newbies to get started and oldbies to learn new skills. How about a monthly video contest to a specific topic? Residents create videos and LL selects the best video for a L$ prize. This video is then used in the tutorial section or posted in the official blog and Youtube channel. Also, what is the status of the Linux Viewer?

A Conversation with Linden Lab CEO Ebbe Altberg
Stephan Gaudio replied to Linden Lab's topic in General Discussion Forum
Facebook is how people connect with friends and family in First Life. It is a great way to share what you do and where you are. Second Life has something similar, "my.secondlife.com". But its implementation is just very very bad. Most residents, especially Firestorm users, don't even know what it is and where to find it. I think it would be very beneficial to upgrade this to a full scale social network. People could use it to post pictures of their inworld adventures, post their location or announce events. Friends can comment and like posts. This servíce should be very visible inworld, for example there should be a button to open the Feed which every resident gets as a default in their toolbar. This would also be a perfect way to connect people across Second Life and Sansar via one platform.- 116 replies

I want to use experience keys for a shooting game. Can I use the experience keys in different regions with different owners as long as I own the game objects? For example Level 1 is in Region A owned by me and Level 2 is in Region B owned by somebody else. The scripted objects in the game though are all owned by me. Would that work?

The Lab recently broke the Linux Viewer and then basically stopped supporting the Linux platform. Why is it that Firestorm or Kokua can offer a working Linux Viewer, even in a 64 bit flavour, and the Lab cannot? Can't you pay them a little money, so they can help you with your Linux problems? But my actual question is about Linux support for Project Sansar. Will it be supported?
-
Will Sansar be available for Linux? Most people I know have Linux systems, I hope you do not plan to exclude all of us from Sansar. Notice that the BRICS countries, among them Brazil, Russia and China currently push their own Linux based operating systems and have plans to ban Windows from their countries completely for security reasons (backdoors for US government). HiFi has a Linux version, so I really hope Sansar will have one as well from the beginning. Also, since the current official SL viewer for Linux is not working since the tools update, it might be good to not offer it for download on the homepage and maybe provide Kokua Viewer instead, which even has a working 64 bit version.
-
Ok, I did not see that. I thought it was May 2015. I switched to Kokua now. Looks great.

I tried all the viewers yesterday and like Catznip most so far, because it is close to the official viewer. And finally I have music in SL again. That was not working for months now. But still I am afrait that is no long term solution. The Lindens will add new features like Experiences and those might not work in Linux. So did anybody yet try Wine and got SL running? Or a virtual machine?
-
Yes, I know. Firestorm works too currently, but I always used the official viewer (I know, I am the only one in SL;) and I am so used to it. Also I think long term the 3rd party viewers will break too for Linux when they take over the code from LL. So I am looking for a long term solution. My favorite would be using Wine, but I don't why it would not work.
-
I am using 64 bit Linux Mint. The most recent Second Life viewer is not working for me. It crashes right when I start it. There is a bug report in the Jira, so I suppose I am not the only one. The Lindens basically broke the Linux Viewer completely and are not willing to fix it. So in my last attempt to somehow keep SL running and not canceling my account and having to close my business that I built in so many years, today I installed Wine and hoped that it would work with SL. I installed the main Wine package, then downloaded the Windows version of SL, right clicked it to install and it looked great. The install dialog popped up and it installed, but at the end just an empty frame showed and it was stuck. I closed it, restarted the computer but still just an empty frame. SL is not starting. Does anybody know whether I did something wrong? Maybe a problem because I try to run a 32 bit SL on a 64 bit machine? Do I need to install more packages? What would be the alternative? A Virtual Machine? Please help! I do not want to leave SL after 8 years, but I will also never install Windows!

After relogging mesh objects and neighboring sims did still not show. But I cleared the cache and now everything seems to be back to normal. -

I am experiencing problems after the restart. It is night on the sim, eventhough it is set to day. There are no clouds. My parcel shows pathfinding, voice etc. inactive, eventhough it is not. I can't fly. In the address bar my previous location shows. Mesh objects do not render. Non-mesh seems to work fine. It was like that after the restart. I did relog, left the sim, waited for 1 hours, but still the same. The name of the sim is 'Shopping'. -
Greetings, I just read the Skill Gaming Policy and (of course;) don't understand if my game is affected by it. I sent a support ticket to the Lindens, but they just tell me to hire an attorney. So maybe here somebody can give me an opinion. Is a simple hit and run shooting game affected by the Skill Game Policy? It is basically a fantasy setting, let's say similar to Linden Realm. Players play for free with a basic gun. They run around, shoot NPCs and receive points. The best player with most points wins money once per day. So according to the Skill Game Policy there is a payout. The players do not have to pay to play, but they can purchase an advanced gun or a HUD for the game. So there can be an optional payment by the player related to the game. The policy says "2) requires or permits the payment of Linden Dollars to play;"

I cannot hear any music in SL. I am using Linux Mint 64 Bit and the official SL Viewer. I read something about Gstreamer in the Wiki, but there are hundrets of matches in the Softwarelist. Which exactly do I have to install?

I can confirm missing prims as well. I use the official viewer. For now I could only observe this with mesh or sculptie objects. I have a tree-linkset in which just half the scuptie prims rezed till I clicked it. My friend couldn´t see my mesh avatar today. I was invisible. Then I have the earlier mentioned problem with my 1 prim sculptie pathfinding character. They appear frozen when I turn away. Once I turn back, they appear at the old position for about 1sec, then jump to the new position where they were supposed to be. Looks to me that they are derendered when I turn away. Once I start looking at them again, they are loaded from cache at the old position. Then they are moved to the new position with a delay. -

I am having problems with pathfinding since todays update. If I turn away from a character, he stops moving. If I turn back and look at it, the character jumps to the new position, but there is a delay of about 1 second in which it appears frozen. That looks really strange and messed up, since I usually have about 10 pathfinding characters rezzed and it looks like stop and go now in my game. Some of them also disappear when I just look the other way and it takes about 1 sec when I look at them again till they appear again. Till then they are invisible. This is really not how people can build games. This Interestlist stuff completly messed it up. -

Still the same problem overhere. Nothing is working when I am on my sim. I asked a few friends to try it and they have the problems as well, so it is not just me. Guess I need to log out for today and play some First Life. -

Its not just the neighbours, Nimh20. The sim seems to be completly disconnected from the grid. Friendslist not loading, groups not loading. Parcel name and flags not showing. I cannot teleport out, though I can teleport in. I tried relogging, I tried logging in with an alt account. I went to other sims that also got the new server version. On the other sims all works fine. Maybe just the update to my sim failed somehow. Maestro, mabe you can initiate another restart of the sim "Shopping"? My landlord is not online and I can´t do it. -

I also cannot teleport to other sims from my sim and my friendslist is not loading. I logged in to another sim with the new server version (Two Moon Paradise, Second Life Server 13.03.15.271999), which seems to work fine. I can teleport back to "Shopping", but get the same issues overthere. I now get the land flags and parcel name etc from the previously visited location. -

There seems to be a problem with my sim ("Shopping"). It came back online after the restart, but the neighbouring sims do not show, eventhough they are online. The land flags (pathfinding, land for sale etc.) are not right and the parcel names are not showing. I am just a cloud. I relogged serveral times, but still the same. There are other people on the sim. -
Walk animation not playing when gun attached

Thx Medhue! I just read that the Lindens are planning script-less AOs. Maybe they take the chance and also fix some other issues around animations now. -
Walk animation not playing when gun attached
Stephan Gaudio replied to Stephan Gaudio's topic in Animation Forum
Thank you Medhue:) So I suppose I need to advise my customers to turn off and detach all AOs or deliver the gun with a complete own AO with higher priority. Writing a Jira won´t help. There are still open Jiras that I reported back in 2007;)
