Absolutely! That's why we always invited a few girls first! Actually as I recall, we often only invited girls. They tended to be more open to group dancing, and could invite any guys they wanted.

I checked out Backdrop City. They have an amazing collection of backdrops for sure. But I saw no one socializing, just several people making selfies at the various backdrops. Do they have any events?

I have been reading several threads about making friends on the forum, and it reminded me of how I used to make lots of friends. I recently came back to SL, and wonder if it will still work. I would go to a busy dance club (or Live Music Venue), where of course 90% of the people were standing around alone. I took an existing friend and we went straight to the middle of the dance floor and started dancing. Then we IM'd several people standing alone and invited them to dance with us, by asking, "would you like to dance with my friend(s) and I?" The majority said yes, even those who were "offline" just listening to music. It was totally non-threatening to anybody (including to me, doing the asking). Some would join my dance hud; some would chat, some were quiet; often we made a group chat. Everyone met new people. I made a note of who joined and later followed up with some. So the next time we chatted, we already "knew" each other. I started many long-term friendships that way. Seems like it would work today as it is still non-threating. Anybody can join without worrying about chatting, sexual advances, etc.

I am a dog in RL, but I use AI to be a cat in SL. I still like to chew any shoes in the closet though.

Restarting SL photography after a 15 year break...

I used Flickr to post my SL pics back in 2007, was away from SL photography for 15 years, and restarted taking SL pics & posting again on Flickr two weeks ago. What I have always done and still do, is look at the SL groups on Flicker to find images I really like. On the ones I like, I post a comment & follow the artist. I may use "Faves" differently than most, but I only fave pics that have some artistic or technical quality I want to learn from. By keeping these incredible pics in my Faves folder I can refer back to them often. So I may trade comments, but not faves. I have found the Flickr community to be very open and supportive, and many do follow me back.

I restarted SL photography this month, after 15 years away (I still came back to SL many times, just no photography). Back in the day (2007), we had a SIM that was a meeting place for models, photographers, beginners, etc. It was a great place to hang out, make friends, learn and practice photography & modeling. All free. This was prior to modeling schools. Is there such a place today?
