Regarding the horses in back yards and the Victorians, that is highly subjective as to being in theme, because at the time those styles of houses were originally built, they probably did have a carriage house and horses.  It depends I think on whether the parcel owner is living in modern times in a restored house, or is imagining living back in the 1800's.  I don't know if you can say that one is more 'in theme' than the other, as the theme doesn't specify a time period to officially be observed. All the questions about where to find 'victorian furniture' and 'victorian plants' that I've seen here in the forums don't help to clarify the time period for the theme either, or the time period that various people are decorating to.

While I agree that things that are clearly out of theme should be reported, I don't want to feel like there is an HOA (Home Owners Association) board that is continually snooping around nit-picking about every little thing they think might be 'out of place'.  I think people need to feel free to use some creativity in their decor, staying within a broad, general interpretation of the theme, without having to worry that their house will be the focus of comments here.

That’s why I used that example, to highlight the highly subjective part I referred to. I don’t mind the horse things as long as they feel like they match or coordinate with the style/theme. But the streets and infrastructure are clearly modern so it really could go either way, if debated.

The only thing I’ve even felt like reporting since I moved to Bellisseria was the completely snowed under plot/house with full bright and a dozen active snow rezzers. And yep, I posted a pix here to see what others thought first too. And at Christmas, when the decor bug bites strongly, I’m just going ‘on vacation’ every year to the beach lots...I’ve already decided for myself.  I understand that people really enjoy It, but at the same time, I’m super glad for the clearly dated limits on holiday decor. That way we are all on the same page.

edit: I actually expected the funky and odd houseboat build-ups and build-outs, I’ve been around Sausalito, Alameda, Mission Creek...it’s not that unusual in these places to see it.

  2. If your search for that particular skin fails, maybe another Pumec skin in the “May” tone will also look similar. In this situation,  I would probably go get free demos some of Pumec’s skins to check them out before buying any gacha skins.

ETA: Ruh Roh. I'm noticing some tiling in this post, which I didn't detect before. Please don't let that be my graphics card. Let it be that FS bug I've heard about! Demmit.

I have noticed this when DOF is enabled and there are some textures with alpha blended transparencies in the bkg. This might not be that but it’s one reason I see this glitch sometimes and I know my card is fine.

  4. I need something to binge watch this week. Last thing I binged was Carnival Row Season 1 and I like Rococo but not much Regency stuff. I like some sci-fi but I’m not  Dr. Who fan *gasp to these 2 utterances, terrible, I know*...I’d rather watch Blade Runner than Star Wars/Trek, and Wuthering Heights than Sense and Sensibility, I’m more of a Gothic Romance chick. Any suggestions for me, pretty please?

Fair point, I am guessing they thought there would be though and they didn't accept that it differed too much to our usual Second Life experience and most of us are not happy to just wander around exploring experiences which offer little in terms of interaction. The graphics are superior though, that was about the only thing I was impressed with.

I think they had a different market in mind and it was premature. I think AR will be a better investment, even for enterprise until VR HMD get down to a not-ridiculous device instead of a huge plastic carapace parked on our faces. I think a ‘new’ mobile version of SL with different features and maybe even different areas than the features and areas accessible via the downloadable viewer (that eternally needs to be backwards-compatible forever and ever, amen) would actually give some breathing room to leap forward with some mobile-only dev without the perpetual worry of breaking the world. But I may be wrong, who knows?

there would need to be signifant demand for it, before they would even give it consideration.

Right...like there was for that other project. 🙃

nah, seriously, I think even a reduced function phone app might give them more dwell/activity than the other project has. Even if it was just for checking messages, making/sending notecards, sorting inventory and group messaging.

  7. While paging through a old family album with (Joe) Ledington, Tribune reporter Jay Jones noticed a recipe scribbled on the back of Claudia Ledington’s last will and testament — Claudia was the Colonel’s second wife.

11 spices – Mix with 2 cups white fl.

    1. 2/3 Ts Salt
    2. 1/2 Ts Thyme
    3. 1/2 Ts Basil
    4. 1/3 Ts Oregano
    5. 1 Ts Celery salt
    6. 1 Ts Black pepper
    7. 1 Ts Dried mustard
    8. 4 Ts Paprika
    9. 2 Ts Garlic salt
    10. 1 Ts Ground ginger
    11. 3 Ts White pepper

Be careful what you wish for, a phone app would cost money to develop, not to mention the additional support costs, if they did develop one, they would have to recoup those costs somehow.

Maybe retasking the budget away from some other project that’s not really doing so well for the Lab financially would make new developments more feasible?

  9. Seriously, though, I thought they had closed the contest, but the form is now back up for submissions...so I’d expect the contest to close on January 15th, winners announced shortly after and the rest of the populace will have the ability to purchase them at that time or shortly afterwards. But I’m guessing, of course.

You don't have to be a premium to have own private region, the premium part only applies to mainland.

You most certainly do NOT need to be premium to own a private region.  Not sure why you think you would.   I've never been premium, and the $200 and change goes right from my CC to LL every month.

I was mistaken then, apologies. It sounded a bit off. I’m really not sure why I thought that, I probably was indeed confusing it with the ‘must use a premium account to buy mainland’.  I’m not sure why they don’t bundle some of the premium features in with region ownership, maybe because it’s a straightforward rental transaction, and not about account enhancement? Perhaps it’s kept compartmentalized for a tax or income reporting reason?

Practicing with Firestorm photo tools on snapshots, I’m challenging myself to limit post-editing to cropping, color correct and levels adjustment only...on some photos. I admire some highly edited photos, real skills in PS...but I also love SL raw shots of all kinds and at all skill levels. I want a portfolio of them for myself.
