  1. AFK avatars make clubs look boring and I don't stay for longer than a minute or two if everyone is like a bot. All avatars lag as soon as you have them in view. Some people have avatars with 200,000 in complexity, a lot of high res textured complex mesh objects and who knows how many scripted huds that could be running for loops and boolean check a number of things. It used to bother me when I had a club, how some had no problem with using up 10x the resources of others. That combined lag and too much AFK behavior was a growth bottleneck, so I closed my business down before losing more money on it, and am not interested in giving Second Life another go.
  2. I would like to add, regardless of your RL gender, if you want to DJ, make a male name and male avatar, it will remove a lot of disrespect, stress and abuse.
  3. This is the only one I use and I it became too draining. I still log in, but just don't have any passion left. I sometimes wonder if it is just me being weak or attracting the wrong people and almost everyone else having a very positive time in-world. There have been some very negative experiences on this forum here as well, and I would say the negativity in the forums outweighs's the usefulness. I used to do a lot in here, but the only thing left is DJing and I now want to do that somewhere else.

  5. I have learned a lot and realised all these rules are just guidelines. You can apply the same texture for colour, normal and specular and tweak it to look very interesting, not correct, but interesting.
  6. I have noticed that the SL camera is tilted a few degrees to the right by default. By tilted, I mean rotated on the forward axis. Is it possible to fix this?
  7. I am on the Kokua viewer because Firestorm stopped working. Suddenly it is as if I get ghosted by everyone. Then I crash or relog many hours later and get all these replies saved like I was offline. It is just me, or is this happening to other people over the last two weeks or so?
  8. I can't find it again. Also saw it somewhere here in the forums. Been wondering why I suddenly get logged out all the time and can't log back in, neither a viewer, nor the account on the website.
  9. I saw this on Twitter just now, people logging in and appear in other people's accounts. If this is true, why aren't we being warned that strangers may be lurking around in our inventory, friendlist, places visited, shopping history etc.?

  11. I have a few of those visitor counters, but what I am looking for is to click a prim and it starts the counting and stops when I click it again. Not a scripter, but understand coding well enough to give this a shot. Where do I start?
  12. I know Blender quite well and the first testing shows the units translate as 1:1. This SL linked prim build is 26 prims and compared to other mesh work in SL, should end up at around 5-10 land impact. If possible, I want to texture every face inside SL to keep the textures sharp, meaning the UVs must be prepared somehow correctly. Besides removing all unnecessary vertices inside the build, creating my own LODs and making sure the normals are facing the right way, what else should be on the checklist? Thank you for your time and possible help.
  13. Firestorm opens up normally and then when I log in, the computer is so frozen, only a hard shutdown will do. On at least one occasion the graphics would get weird, so maybe it is that? This began two days ago, I am now on the official viewer and miss a few features from Firestorm. Is it me, is it Firestorm or is it Intel based Macs? Any suggestions on what to do? I use that RLV feature for a number of things, and am looking forward to try "Wardrobe."
  14. I am setting up rental apartments and need help with finding the right furniture and decorations to make them look the best possible. The salary is for the time we work together only, meaning, you do not have to do any extra work by yourself. We will set this up in one apartment, where you can live free for a whole month after we are done. REQUIREMENTS: You have done this a lot.   15. I stopped after 16-17 hours, had already been awake 12 hours prior, and need to prepare this better. A good start would be not having the New Year's Eve hangover involved.

  17. I am doing a 24 hours set atm. and would love to know if someone went further. The rules are of course no AFK, no pre-recorded sets. I jukebox mp3's and it is of course banned to just make a huge playlist and pretend, it has to be active music search the whole time.
  18. I am new to LSL, but an intermediate programmer and can figure this out. But first, I want to ask if this is a good idea in the first place. The goal is to make an apartment building system and have everything change together and stick together, by adjusting one parameter at a time. A typical case is changing the build height, making the ceiling move up and all the walls stretch up. Another example is changing the wall thickness, or doorway dimensions. I have played with this in Blender/Python, FreeCAD and Unreal Engine and then I found this: LlSetPrimitiveParams -> And an idea was born To begin with, the code will be updated in Google Sheets and pasted into the script for every change. If this works well enough, I imagine a HUD or some other interactive UI inside SL.
  19. This is not worth the time, effort and energy. I sort of don't care anymore. 2023 is around the corner, and I am fired up for success with my dreams, SL & RL. Time to let go and create a life so good, this will not even be there as a memory. Consider this topic closed on my behalf.

  22. I had a very negative experience in SL a while ago. It is still haunting me and I want to talk about it. I want to name names of two people, the groups they use to recruit their targets, and the name of the business they operated from. This experience desecrated me somehow and now this account is ruined, it is meaningless, I don't care if I violate some TOS rule and get suspended. I only care about what I write not being taken down. Obviously LL can't do anything about what we post around the internet, but they can delete things from the forums. What are our limits on sharing things about SL and in SL?
  23. That would be great yes. I helped a building noob figure out the texturing settings to well in an hour, she went from "I can't do this" to aligning, flipping, stretching etc. a texture on a surface and felt like a magician after it. Giving everyone in SL that power, but done from a proper source of eduction, would get many more creations into our virtual world. My claim is that anyone can learn how to build and texture a great looking shell of a house in one day. Not great like you can, but great in the eyes of a beginner. Screenshots in a notecard called something like Texturing like a pro, as a bonus to a YouTube tutorial/walkthrough, could empower so many who never build anything because they think SL is complex, when in fact, it is the most accessible multiplayer games engine I know of, where you can create in real time. - I had two textures, front was semi-transparent and the other person was like "Photoshop in SL!!" 😁 - most simple trick to make grass non-repeated with a semi transparent cloud texture on top.
