  1. This shows why its so important to demo ! Since there isn't a singular standard for rigging it really does vary from designer to designer, and I even have issues  as someone with an avatar that has always been on the petite side of the spectrum of avatar size. Generally bigger stores will have better rigging because they most likely have a person dedicated to doing that specific job. Smaller stores are hit or miss as they might be the only person involved in the entire work flow of creating products. And if its older product for the designer, the rigging will probably not be as good due to the fact that they might have still been learning how to rig.  Also animation overrides are tough on clothes and often break mesh in places that would otherwise be fine especially if you are particularly twirly or fidgety. My personal preference is using a mostly static AO with breathing and very subtle movement.

As for changing your shape...its always surprising to me what actually makes the difference in making something fit. It might not be that you need to reduce your butt's size, but play with how much muscle your lower body has or your body fat or body thickness.

  2. @AlazshaHey Alazsha ! As Nalates said in her initial post, if you could please take a picture of your avatar along with your worn folder. Right now everyone is speculating what might be occurring, but we will be able to help you more definitively if we can see it for ourselves. There are several programs you can use to take snap shot, my fave is Gyazo, but you can also just print screen or take a snapshot in the viewer.

  3. I love Tableau Vivant and that is what I use currently on my Lelutka. Another place to look is Izzies. I have some hairbases from them that were based on the Truth color range that might work for you.  A word of caution ! If you can demo hairbases before you buy, definitely do. While most hair bases will be okay in the front, they can sometimes bleed on to your ears if you are wearing a hairbase  that is not created for your particular head .

  4. Is unpacking your items the issue?  Generally there are a couple of methods to do it and some caveats. Whenever I buy something I usually try adding ( add not wear) the object to my avatar to see if its actually packed or inside an unpacker hud that will appear on your screen if attached.  If it's a hud, you should be able to click it or  it may automatically unpack your item into a folder which you should be able to find in the most recent tab of your inventory. If an actual box is attached, I will unattach it,  and  drag it to ground from my inventory. In order to drag it to the ground the land you are on must allow you create objects on it. If you don't currently have land, search for a sandbox and try rezzing your item there. Once rezzed, right click to open or some boxes have an unpacker that allows you to click it. The contents of the box should then be in a folder in your inventory.

If that was horribly confusing still , check out this video that Cassie Middles made on the topic:

  5. I think it depends on the clubs you attend. I am not of fan of places where people just stand around in their IMs . If I am feeling social and  go out   (happens rarely these days)  I will join the local conversation if there is one and if no one is interested in talking there then I just take off. I say to try music clubs because it is generally an interest that most people have, and there is oodles of them around to sample. Of course this is all  based on my experience. Perhaps there are places that burgeoning creators or those interested in building go to share ideas that I don't know about. In some ways I was very lucky to join SL when I did.  There weren't as many places to go and everyone was a lot more accessible and less jaded. Back then people didn't know any better that they shouldn't talk to me . >.<   Finding friendship should not be difficult, but the nature of SL and it's residents can certainly make it feel that way especially when you are new or overwhelmed by the virtual world.

    Also Oreos are vegan.

  6. I can definitely see both sides of this. I think if you are interested in making friends with residents who post here on the forums, the best way to do that is to engage in the various topics. Ask questions, give input on other peoples posts. But if you are looking for in-world friends, Talli's advice is sound. I am not saying it's easy though.  Finding my group of friends was kind of a happy accident years in the making. For me it started with finding a club that played music I liked and had a vibe I enjoyed . I became a regular there and engaged in local chat with the other patrons . The rest was kind of history. It was  not easy or fast , but I eventually made friends by becoming part of the scene. So have patience with yourself and others.

(In addition, the elevation seams were fixed for the pregnancy and original female bodies in the 1.3 update toward the end of last year, and will shortly be fixed for the male and 'Perky' bodies. Yes, it's taken longer than it took Maitreya/ Reasons why? No idea, but it's known and is being worked on and fixed.)

Actually the Perky body was the first one to be fixed back in July (along with the more muscular male body I believe).  For some reason I was under the impression that the other bodies had already been updated too, but looking at their update log they only mention changes from back in August. I know for sure the regular Legacy for women was definitely updated. Not sure why their logs on the mesh body website doesn't reflect that.  I will say there have even been more recent updates from back in the fall for the women's bodies. They remodeled the breasts and neck. The version I use is 1.3.3.

This morning, it was breakfast with @Saskia Rieko, @BelindaN, and (in this pic) @Eva Knollerand @Laurel Aurelia.

    Missing thought bubbles . . .

Eva Knoller: "OMG, she's still talking. Why is she still talking? What is she even saying?"

Laurel Aurelia: "Well, this was a mistake . . ."

  9. I am not super into the holidays, but I have a few things that I got that belonged to my grandmother. One was a Christmas quilt and the other was a ceramic Christmas tree that lights up. My grandmother painted it herself among other things in 70s ( I got a couple sad clown pieces too that I will never part with) ,and its the one thing I will still put out in real life to this day. To my delight,  Hextraordinary came out with a rendition of this tree year before last and I instantly bought it.

  10. I would recommend checking out Cheezu , Pixicat, Sallie and SpectacledChic. Not sure I've seen anything with an apron. While Market place is  a convenient option, it is not always the best place to see what is available in our virtual world. Check out Flickr.  Wouldn't be surprised if there was a SL centric group there for Cottage core pics since its such  a cute style.

  11. Lucky for you  Maitreya is the standard for most stores. Plastix is probably one of my fave smaller stores I lament not being able to wear due to wearing Legacy perky full time. The textures and materials are top notch, and lots of fun styles. There is even some stuff for guys too! For more casual clothes , I love Tres Blah and Evani. For more offbeat clothing, check out Hot Dog and Boy to the Bone (BTTB). The fit can sometimes be a little "creative" , but they offer some really fun and unique looking stuff.

  12. Along with Seraphim, Grid Affairs is another website that lists a multitude of events, and sometimes has ones not mentioned at Seraphim. Along with events where you can experience lot of different creators, there are groups on Flickr that are strictly Vendor ads that you can browse. Often, its one of the first places you will see new items. As for specific stores, there are too many good ones to name unless you have particular requirements besides price. I'd also recommend joining in world groups if you are able. Big stores like Blueberry, Addams, Scandalize , Seniha among many others give out group credits randomly which is a nice way to offset some costs .

  13. I don't have a lot of experience with Catwa's newer heads, but I have had stuck expressions before with other mesh heads. In my experience it's usually due to clicking a static expression and not realizing it. However if you unpacked a new head that should not be the case. I do know from when I did demo the new Catwas, like their older head, they come out of the box basically doing all their animations, and the user has to go in and untick the unwanted face animations.

@Skell Dagger , Catwa's gracious CSR, will be better equipped to help, but I would say check the default lip animation and full face expressions in the separate animation hud to see if any of them are causing the issue. I wish I could be of more help :/.

  14. Legacy does have demos at the store. Have her search around again for them. I can only speak from personal experience and opinion, but I love my Legacy body, and have been wearing one full time for almost a year. I paid full price for it, and have not regretted the decision as it fixed a lot of my issues I had with other bodies. I won't say it didn't come with some issues initially ( neck not fitting head, visible slices in the body at high altitudes), but they released updates to fix the slices and Lelutka's universal neck fix makes my head/body connection seamless. Not a fan of alpha hide part of the hud. I'd rather have the hud be bigger so I don't have to spend an age turning my avatar around just fix my pesky armpits, but  that's me being nitpicky. On a whole, I've had a very positive experience, and will continue to use my Legacy perky until there is one that looks as good but lower complexity.

  15. My Second Life resolutions are pretty much the same as they are every year. Organize my inventory so that it is better utilized and curtail some of my shopping. The latter will help immensely with the former.  I did manage to box up most of my premesh wardrobe  and stuff into scripted objects that let me search them without unpacking them. I also deleted all the sizes of clothing I don't have bodies for . I really want a visual system of looking at what I have , and while I do own the wardrobe system , I think I can do something a little more basic in One Note. Being more organized in general really helps me manage anxieties in all the worlds.

    And acne!

I wish I could find better and more subtle facial tattoos for graceful and elegant aging, though. The options all age one by about 50 years, or just don't look good.

The full face ones are always a bit too heavy handed for me, but I swear by Izzie's forehead lines that she put out for FLF awhile ago, and her "Age Yourself Up" eye wrinkles. They are pretty subtle looking I think. Also, I am not sure what head you are currently using, but in the BOM stuff that comes with the Lelutka Evo heads, they included a highlight layer that really gives the skin texture albeit shiny.

    *back on topic*

While clothing movement doesn't really interest me a whole lot ,I do find interactive clothing/ hair  pretty neat. Having different  clothing states and hair styles is great for pictures, but probably not great for out in the world. Hence why I hermit .
