  1. You are as well welcome to join the Mainland Tour I host once a month if that works for your timezone. It is usually on Saturdays at 9am SLT. Next one is planned for April 24. You can follow the announcements for it here:

For previous tours, we visited a few communities around the grid that are also very active to go exploring around mainland. I have 2 on my list which I would recommend:

    • Eulennest: weekly trips on Thursdays or Wednesdays, usually at noon or 1pm SLT. They go mostly sailing or flying, or horseback riding.
      Group SURL: secondlife:///app/group/2fb35959-bd90-15d6-a4b2-058a136c9721/about
    • Friday Knights Sailing Club: weekly sailing/boating trips, usually on Fridays at 7pm SLT.
      Group SURL: secondlife:///app/group/412288f5-62a5-a374-6123-7a9d55c0dad8/about

Both groups announce their upcoming tours in their group notices.

Hopefully one day they will arrive one day so that intercontinental flight and sailing will be possible from Western to Eastern continents.

Flights are doable. I had no issue to go by plane after having crossed over from Bellisseria. From Furball, I flew straight north to Gingivere, then east to Bagheera where I immediately started to follow Route 8. At Makalu, I left this route and aimed north again for Cochrane. From there on, it was pretty chill to fly over protected land around Nautilus and Blake Sea to Corsica.

For Corsica, I still need to find a better way. I kept following Circuit la Corse but had an accident when I ran into 2 full parcels. But there are a few huge abandoned parcels around so most likely, next time I will try navigating along these to avoid Pearl where I had the accident. Other than that, it all went fine and I could cross over to Gaeta V to land at Gaeta Airport at Lenimov.

  3. Well, there is actually a certain group of "business people" who put people without their consent on advertising lists. I have no idea why they think that such "business methods" were a smart move. Apart from the fact that it is against TOS; LL is pretty clear about that in their definitions of spam which can be found in the community standards and on the SL Wiki.

What you can do? Contacting the people who are in charge and telling them to remove you instantly from their list. Blocking the object that sends the message. Last but not least, sending an Abuse Report.

  4. And here is the official announcement for the next tour at the Snowlands. ^_^

The ONSR will bring us to our starting point for exploring the Alpine Routes in the Snowlands, a subcontinent at Sansara. We will pass by Chalet Linden and various other points of interest. To top it all off, we will test our skills to raft through rapids on the fjord before we finish our tour at the Winter Cove Community.

    Meeting Time & Location
    Saturday, March 27, 9:00am SLT
    @ ONSR Okema Canyon Station
    SURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Okemo Canyon/102/160/65

    Requirements
None! However, I suggest to prepare warm clothes, and to grab the free rubberboat since it is a bit easier to steer through the rapids (I did the test!). 😉 A hint for a free rubberboat can be found in the tour HUD which is available at the Mainland Tour Office: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sunstream/46/253/65

    Additional Info
If you would like to arrive to the meeting location by plane, car, snowmobile or with another vehicle, the Okemo Airfield is just next to the ONSR Okemo Canyon Train Station, as well as a snowy road (the road from the north has a dead end though!). Check the map to find your prefered optional start location.

  5. The next Mainland Tour will be on Saturday March 27, 9am SLT at the Snowlands, a subcontinent of Sansara.

One of the sites to be visited will be the ONSR. I had the chance to meet Veronica Quackenbush, one of the initiators, and she told me the whole story about it. Turned out to be an interesting piece of SL history! So I decided to bring the ONSR history into some nice form, and share it with you beforehand. Consider it an "amuse-cerveau" 😁

You can find the whole story on the Mainland Tour blog: https://yukiyesh.wixsite.com/mainlandtour/post/sl-history-the-onsr-in-the-snowlands

Also: the updated HUD with all landmarks to points of interest + additional information of the previous tour at Campbell Coast is now available at the Mainland Office.

I will meet up in a few days with the owner so once I know more, I will drop info here.
    [snip]

I met up with the owner on Sunday and can tell more now. The community is called "Winter Cove Community" and is located on Rothenburg in the Snowlands: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Rothenburg/52/103/129

You can find homes to rent; a huge park with dog parcours, ice skating pond, kids playground, bike rezzer; a loft style gym fitness club; a business area on the other side of the LL road with stores, barbershop, bistro, coffee house, and a movie theatre. Some items will have Xeolife implemented as well. I am not firm with this system but those who are aware of it, will know :D For entertainment, it is planned to offer gym classes and movie nights, and additional occassional events. Other planned sites are a grocery store, a gas station, a community center, and not far from this area, an additional location with cabins to rent and a hangout hub.

The official opening of the community will happen within the next days, that's why you will still see banlines around the area as of now. However, group access is activated (group is free to join), or you can zoom around. On a sidenote: I scheduled a visit at the location for my next Mainland Tour at the Snowlands so if you don't want to explore it on your own, you're welcome to join the tour.

  7. It has been promised, finally I could make some time! We are going to revisit Campbell Coast since a lot of people have been asking about it. However, with a very few exceptions, we will explore the sites which couldn't be considered anymore last time due to time limit. So if you have joined the previous tour, you will get to see new sites around the area. Some of them have just been added or revamped!

    Meeting Time & Location
    Saturday, March 13, 9:00am SLT
    @ Edge Walker
    SURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Edge Walker/181/215/64

    Requirements
None! If you have a horse, feel free to bring your own. Everyone else will be able to retrieve a horse from the rezzer.

On a sidenote: to be able to provide also tour reviews (pictures+texts), or additional information, ooooor.... something like an interview coming up (hint, hint!), I set up a blog for the project which you can find here: https://yukiyesh.wixsite.com/mainlandtour

  8. I have the impression that - generally spoken - the main reason to start on MD is for most people that it gives you visible results in a quite fashionable time. Which is certainly a huge motivator when learning a new skill. However, like @Kyrah Abattoiralready mentioned, in the long run, it is actually contraproductive, and it is indeed recommended to learn Blender first. Another reason why is the fact that almost all mesh body creators wouldn't grant you access to their dev kits if you haven't a store with a little portfolio to show.

re-rezzing the returned trees time after time isn't exactly a good way to keep in touch with your neighbour.

It is also not the best way to keep in touch with neighbours by acting like being armed with the penal code.🤷‍♀️

  10. I totally understand how annoying it is when a neighbour seems to have an issue with you/your items and is instantly armed to their teeth instead of communicating with you. To my experience with such kind of people, being extra polite is the key. Often enough, they seem to be those kind of people who hold a grudge against humankind in general because they felt treated disrespectful too often (not meaning that you were!), and then they are just rude with everyone, no matter if reasonable or not.

Now I don't know if this is doable for you at all because in all fairness, not everyone has the patience to counter rudeness with kindness. But maybe it was worth it trying to take the wind out of their sails if you explained the situation and your attempts for a solution like you did here, and just offer them to work this out together so both of you get what you wanted. Again, I am aware, this kind of handling aggressiveness is not everyone's cup of tea but perhaps you have the thick skin for these "psychological tricks". Good luck!

  11. @Marianne Little

I understand your point. But if I consider all the other circumstances what original creations mean in regard of time, effort and costs that have to be put in, I come to the conclusion that the actual product is not the single items, but the fatpack. Hence, offering singles is offering restricted, basic byproducts, and giving those customers who are on a budget the chance to enjoy the item partially at least.

Maybe there was less dissatisfaction if there wasn't this - in my opinion - huge gap of original creators not making the creation process and all the other responsibilities transparent enough, and customers being unaware about all of that. In the end, this lack of making understandable/understanding is probably the most disheartening for both sides since it creates a lot of misunderstandings.

  12. I prefer clothing fatpacks being modify, too, for the reasons that have been mentioned already: tweaking color tints for a better mix&match, or adjusting materials to one's own taste. Now for single clothing items being no-mod, I don't blame anyone at all. I can't expect to get all the fancy features either if I wanted to purchase the deluxe version of a sportscar for a standard car price.

  13. It sounds like you are looking for new friendships. This is an ongoing topic here in the forums, and telling from the experience most made, it is best to follow activities you enjoy because shared interests make it usually easier. These interests could be attending live music events, joining a roleplay community, or any sort of activity like sailing/flying/driving, building, photographing, exploring, horseback riding and so on.

Perhaps the kind of person you're trying to hire would know what an 'RRPP' is, but I certainly don't.

Did a quick research inworld, and on Google. I would guess that in this context, "RRPP" is refering to the spanish "Relaciones Públicas" which means "public relations".

  15. Just like in RL, being around a location where you could be exposed to nudity, you wouldn't necessarily assume you may run around naked yourself. Or are you going into a red light district and expect that people are okay with it if you hopped around naked in the streets just because adult activities happen around the area? In conclusion: Not sure if serious, or just trying to provoke. :D
