You seen like a lot of fun, we should hang out sometime 😁

I'd hang out with anyone here. Just saying. I'm always down to meet people from the forums.

And I wish I could do more to help people inworld who are dealing with poopy people, too.

You guys are as much my SL family as the people I know inworld already.

I'd make a thread about it, but it'd end up trashed, lol.

  2. Offhand, I'd say look in the selfie threads (in the Your Avatar section of the forums), we have many people who could teach inworld photography, and would probably enjoy helping another learn.

Personal experience, I can vouch for Aiyumei as being pro-level skillwise, and Scylla is also highly skilled, like pro artist level. I know this from seeing their works aside from on the forums. We have a lot of really good photographers, though, and most of them spend at least some time in the selfy threads. Maybe message a few people who have similar skills to what you'd like to cultivate.

Help with avis, no idea, because I hardly connect with any of the top-tier stuff the way a lot of others here do. I know people who swear by Catwa, but they've all had their looks down for like, forever. I don't know if they'd even want to mess with editing one, lol.

I know we have people here who can help though.

I would be beyond delighted to bump into in world one day, and see one of these fabulous outfits :) This one being top of my list so far!

Just a work uniform, ma'am, just part of the job.

My official job title is Pesky Brat. I do my best to serve.

  4. We had some dooshy guy for a while who was doing the same thing, actually. Spying on a lady on our sim and posting videos of her. We banned him left and right and he just kept coming back on alts. They'd walk in, go to the exact same spot, and just camp.

I started walking up and saying hello to him and asking him how the view was, etc.

He got annoyed. I haven't seen him in a while.

Of course, I was also dressed like this...

    snapthingy_001.thumb.png.b5a06371f63de03b3f0c30b99c83a0c2.png

And always greeted his alts as if we were old friends.

For some reason, guys who like spying on others hate it when others stand there and look at them doing it.

    People are silly.

Maybe if he has a thing for a pretty lady or something, she could try a Yithian avatar as well. It was obviously too sexy for my stalky friend.

4.000 is the de facto unofficial standard. That lodfactor battle is lost a long time ago.
Even if one personally only buys stuff with enough strength, others will not.  If one wants to see a whole world around them one has to go for 4.

And even if one only makes stuff that's merciful to people with lower LOD settings, other vendors will not. It's depressing, but it's true.

Sid is right, as far as being able to see everything the way it should look.

Still, I wish in one hand, and then wish in the other, on the off chance it doubles the odds that things will change. Keeps my hands clean, too.

  6. My wear-or-rezz box unpacker script only even has an attach event so it can ask permission to detach itself after unpacking the box. Everything else it does, I just use the on_rez event.

I think you're probably fine without it.

This is an instant 1 star from me . If it requires 4.000 lod to see it without it disappearing from 2 feet away , it's trash . Most people don't keep it at 4.000 24-7 .

The only justification I can see is if they're advertising it as super-low prim, and warn people ahead of time. Some people specifically want things like that, because they don't have the prims available otherwise. It sucks, but yeah.

Way I see it, if it's inside decor, like you're going to be in a room a few meters away, max, it shouldn't matter if it looks great from 200 meters away. But yeah, it should definitely look right when you're in the same room with it.

As for houses, if it turns into a loaf of triangle when I'm 50 meters away, they need to go back to mesh uploading school, because that's shameful. Even I'm not that bad.

Landscaping goods? They'd better look right for everybody, no matter what. That's your public face, your land. You want it to look nice. Especially if you're paying for it.

If you are using voice, you might try moving into chat during that time. Communicating in chat will make it harder for them to create YouTube content.

This is very sound advice (OMG, no pun intended!). Not only do most people who like that kind of videos prefer voice, because noise is somehow fun for them, but also most of their viewers won't have the patience to sit there and watch the local chat, and their views will drop off.

You can have a great time and still be utterly boring to the poopy people.

  9. Using a short-range sensor is probably fine, as long as it can communicate somehow with any combat meter you might want to employ. I just have my stuff message them on a negative-numbered channel (to avoid snooping/cheating), and tell the meter they've been hit. Of course, I made the meter to go with it, so it'd always work.

As for invisible bullets, think like a slat of board being thrown at them, that dies on contact, or by the time it's gone out of melee range, whichever comes sooner. Not naming any names, but a lot of fantasy combat sword makers use this approach.

    I'd love to see it just come down to having the weapon touch the opponent and registering hits, but attachments are all phantom, just to keep people from getting their eyes poked out at marshmallow roasts and stuff. ^-^;

And despite my edging on snarky with my first reply, because I was like, why is it this old thing again, I agree that making it do what you want is a worthy goal. Even if you end up not liking it as much as the way it worked before, you tried and made it go. And besides, it could actually turn out to be a big improvement.

So yeah, keep us updated and stuff!

  10. Peeve: When someone I've actually liked and semi-admired for a good 8 years or so becomes transparent in their douchery to the extent that I wonder how I could ever have tolerated them before.

Extra Peeve: Seeing them being cowardly about it, while acting smug. Talk about disappointing.

Bonus Peeve: Looking back and seeing that they've been that way to everyone, all along.

Bonus Peeve 2: Knowing they like it, and would rather have that kind of attention than anything better, or mutually pleasant.

Final Peeve: Realizing that they actually think they are superior because of it. What a thing to be proud of.

I think we need l33t sp33k, l0lspeak, and tummy talk sub-forums. Maybe a subforum for people who prefer not using punctuation and paragraphs.

A containment unit for **** like this would be awesome. I mean your post, not the stuff in it.

Coming in behind someone saying nini, and crapping in their thread and all. If you don't like me, you can keep it to yourself, and just leave me alone, instead of just mocking me, right?

    Each to their own. Right?

    \o

To reiterate: I would love it if this forum had a place for all of the bored, too-clever, compulsive-typing, people who just have to mock everything and insult everyone's intelligence to go and make threads for that, instead of playing "let's try acting like turkey turds some more".

  12. If they weren't such a high-profile creator/vendor, I'd almost say contact them and ask if they'd be willing to help, for a consideration. They probably don't have all that much spare time for doing custom stuffs, though.

I use a head that's probably considered outdated by its creator. It took a lot of work to get it to look just so, and it's still imperfect, because I'm using a skin that's also probably considered outdated by its creator. It's kind of okay though, as long as I never look directly into my nostrils. XD

I kind of wish the sliders were a little more adjustable, like that you could set your face to something close to what you want, and then reset the sliders so that your current face is the middle-ground base for the sliders, and adjust further from there. If that makes any sense.

Anyway, if I owned the same head, I'd offer to do it for free. Or to try, anyway. Maybe someone here still has the Simone head and has the skill to say, "oh, that's nothing~! here ya go!", and help out. It'd be a fun way to spend some time inworld, eh? Somebody has to have perfected editing that particular head by now.

Thank you so much Ill try that !
Ive been racking my brain for three days on this.

One of my first uploads still had the spotlight and everything included, I think. Not sure how, but yeah. I tried rezzing it and it kept showing up 30 meters away, and underneath my build platform. Applying Rotation and Scale, and making sure to tick the "Only Selected" box when exporting the collada file fixed 90% of my then-current frustrations with uploads.

Oh and if you get an error involving MAV_BLOCK something or other, try making sure none of your mesh parts are a circle. The uploader thingy doesn't like things that have a plain circle mesh as the first (or is it the last?) item in line in the linkset. I haven't gotten that error since changing how I make my stuff to avoid using circles (now I just cut a cylinder to get a circle).
