Firstly, and I'm not just targeting you, this is only one of several things I've seen here. Don't generalize him for the one thing I've told you all about him. He is one of the most opened minded people I've ever known. I've told him a great many things about me over the years that I've known him, many most would of ran from or balked at, yet he remained. You all are painting him as some ***** for one flawed way of thinking that I told you about, when that couldn't be farther from the truth. Secondly, I politely ask you all to not bring politic's into this. with this being election season, I hear enough of this on radio apps, as well as TV youtube ads, I don't wanna hear about any sort of it here. I understand the need to do so with the topic, but please tread lightly with it...just...for the sake of our sanity...please lol

and like, I even pointed out and said "What makes Africans so special, that we can't make alts of them but yet any other race is fine?" or something long those lines, where he said he was never okay with me having alts of different races, which I didn't buy, I had a mexican/ latina alt I ran around as for a while that he loved

And he only ever seemed to have a problem with me having an alt of African descent, since he's never said anything about my Indian, Mexican and Chinese looks before

A while back I was trying on some hairstyles that I was showing a friend while we talked. I can't remember the exact words that lead up to this, but he said I shouldn't make a black avatar because I am white in RL. Said it was the same as doing black face. I've had many looks for my alts over the years, where they have all been different races, both mythical and human alike so it had never even crossed my mind to think of it that way. At first I didn't think anything of it but the more I pondered it the more I kept thinking " Is it?" So I figured I would ask here on the matter to get a broader perspective Do you all think having an avatar a different race than what you are born is wrong? What are your thoughts? Friend: It would depend on your portrayal really, but here is the thing... anyone that you came into contact with on that character (or any that is of another race, not just black), if they found out you were white the whole time, it COULD cause a lot of bull***** drama for you. Friend: But also, you have to admit that there is a certain racial history that white America has, and that does kinda effect how things are percieved Friend: when it comes to certain races over others Me: Uhm no, I have Met ALOT of people who were white in RL and RPed as black characters, because most people in the RP community understand that its just a character Friend: I get that, and I agree with you Friend: My stance is that I wouldn't do it just because I would want to avoid the possible drama that might come along with though Me: I get that Friend: but also, i don't RP as much as you, so you do know the community better Friend: I can see it from the perspective of "everything here is a story, and we're just writing characters and cooperatively writing this *****" standpoint Me: but wit hthat being said, would you also say that if a white american person walked around with one of those anime characters, since anime is a big part of japanese culture, that it would also be inappropriate? Friend: while YOU and I might be able to see the clear cut difference between an "RP character" and what is RL; other's who aren't quite so involved might not get it that way

I think whats been causing it, was 4 days prior to this, I had turned off my PC by the button instead of by the start menu, with SL still up so I'm guessing since I done that, that it messed up something in my PC, because my computer was just slower than general ever since then until I done the restore to a certain date

What does annoy me about this though, is this wasn't announced on the official site, but on a blog I have never even heard about until now so it was like they wanted to sneak this in on us, which is a shady thing to do

No actually if you read the link you posted completely, they simply want the store/ blog ads to stop, which from their perspective I can understand because that essentially is spam. I am not saying I agree with what they're doing, I don't because it will hurt Most of SL's creators when advertising their products, I am simply trying to clarify what you misread =)

Firstly thanks for your help. Sadly it was happening on every alt I have ( I have 3 others) and I had tried literally everything under the sun to fix it. Clearing cache, rebooting my router, uninstalled and reinstalled FS a couple times, even deleted cookies off my PC and even offered ten years of servitude to a demon if they would fix it! ( lol JK xD) The only thing that would fix it, was me restoring my PC back to an earlier date

I love how you talk like your against bullying and being prejudiced towards a certain race, that doesn't actually exist by the way, any furries in RL are just people in a costume, then proceed to be racist towards human avatars, which COMPLETELY invalidates your argument because you, yourself made a racist comment lol 2. If this was towards trans people I would agree. Or people of color or another gender/ sex etc. But this is about FURRIES!.... Just....SERIOUSLY!? Furries arent a real thing. like I said in point 1, RL furries are just people in costumes, you can't surgically or cosmetically become a full furry 3. I'm a female Dominant in SL who has short hair and A LOT tattoo's on her avi. I face this sort of discrimination quite a bit and though it used annoy me, it mostly bounces off of me like bullet proof glass. Now to answer if I like it, which is no but I accept the fact that everyone has different views on what beauty is. When one person find me hideous, another is in my IM's telling me how awesome I look. As cheesy as it sounds the beauty is in the beholder. My avi is customized to please MY eyes and my eyes only. I really couldn't care less if I'm the only one that finds her attractive. I've spent alot of time and money to make her pleasing to me and me only With all those points being made, everyone is SL is entitled to do what they feel is appropriate to keep their SL enjoyable. I for one do not typically enjoy Furries (Unless they are really well though) because to me they just look creepy. The same goes for the Anime looking avi's and child/ toddler avatars. I can respect thats how people want to spend their SL, but I for one choose to not have them in mine. Whether or not that makes me racist, well I guess thats up to you, but everyone has preferences and those are mine

I feel like I need to clear up/ Apologize/ explain some things -Firstly, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was whining or anything, though by the way I worded it, very much came off like that. I had been dealing with viewer problems (And still dealing with them atm, UUUUUUUUUUUUGH Lol) as well as it was really late for me and I was tired when I wrote this. the smart thing I shoulda done was just sleep on it but I didn't so here we are, with a very poorly executed forum topic I can't delete * Laughs and facepalms, shaking her head* - I fully understand that the comment that I made in the group when I didn't get a response as quickly as I would have liked wasn't called for. To the members of the FS support team reading this, I am very sorry, I had been dealing with the viewer problems for two days when I said that and my patience was just gone at that point, and I took it out on y'all when I shouldn't have. I completely understand that the FS support team is made up of volunteer's who can't be at the keyboard all the time and the work they put out isn't paid for and you all do it because you want to. Thanks! And yeah apparently expecting a service that the group provides makes me entitled lol. I understand my comment wasn't appropriate, I really do and it wasn't one of my finer moments but the number of people who have commented like I'm some privileged person for expecting help from a group with the word "Support" in it I'm just...speechless....You don't go up to someone in a starbucks and call them entitled because the person behind the counter didn't get their order right

Yes because getting frustrated when I tell someone they have a typo in their profile I should delete my account and also my life. As well as being called an entitled ***** for expecting to get answers in a support group makes me a snowflake

It's just something I've noticed lately and what happened today really seemed to drive this point home. I was in the Firestorm Support group asking for a solution as to why my viewer keeps going to the log out screen as soon as it gets off the loading screen. I waited a full 5 minutes, no-one responded so in a lighthearted, if not annoyed manner, mentioned it with the sentence '...Wow okay thanks, helpful as ever-.-" Then there were 2 or 3 people who proceeded to attack me over me voicing my annoyance for not getting a response, belittling me and calling me rude names that weren't called for. I tell this story because I've noticed this about the residence of SL over the last year, if not 2 years or more. Hostile people have always been around in SL, but it seems like they have drastically grown in numbers over the last couple of years. Something as simple as me politely pointing out a typo in someone's profile had them telling me I should delete my account as well as other things I will spare you from so my question is. Do you all think that, as SL grows in Popularity, that it also attracts a lot of hostile people as well?
