Thank you for the suggestions. I'm checking them out now. I was looking at nice lands to rent, but it was like 1000L per week. I can buy some mainland for 700L plus the tier prices, which is what, like $8 a month (as a premium member). I'm not 100% sure a skydome is necessary. I showed it to hubby and he actually didn't like it. Maybe a platform in the sky with a house on it will be good enough.

I was hoping I could run this idea by some more experienced residents. I was thinking of buying this land for 750L (1024m). Would this be the kind of place that I can buy a skydome (Turnip's for example) and just plop it down on this land? Does the land have to be completely flat? Am I supposed to put the dome in the sky instead? How high? On top of this, could I also get some suggestions for where one might find some nice skyboxes or houses. I've heard some people put skyboxes in skydomes? Is this right? Or is it better to put a house in a skydome? I'm looking for some good suggestions for stores. I've had my Linden home for quite a while and am excited, but nervous, about taking the next step. Edit: Also, there is a bench on this land. When I own the land, can I get rid of it? 

I found a skyplatform rental that I like. However, it's a bit dark. Is there a way to make the whole box brighter? I do not mean through personal settings as I would want any visitors to see it brighter as well.

I am interested in possibly renting. I've been wandering around but I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for. Can you give me some ideas for homes ideal for singles? I'm looking for something small.

I've played SL off and on for a couple of years. I've been a premium member for about two years now, and I'm just now considering abandoning my LL home and dip my feet in the water with land ownership. I wish you luck on your journey. See you around!

I live in a Linden Home. I keep my windows and doors open unless I want privacy, in which case I lock and close the windows. Personally, I'd kind of be more than happy if someone took a peek at my home. The land is so empty most of the time, I really doubt many see it. But I put work into it and it kind of makes me sad that I can't really share it with many. I'm still doing a lot more work, but one of my favorite things about it is this slideshow picture I put on my wall which shuffles through pictures of my cats. I also have this really calming bell chime in my home which I find so soothing. I made it so you can't hear it off my land (I was so embaressed to learn that for MONTHS I had it set so you could hear it outside. Wow. I wonder if I annoyed neighbors!) Honestly, I take a peek at other homes in the neighborhood. I never, ever peek when people are home though.

I've played Second Life off an on for a few years. There's something I've struggled with though and that's finding a good residence. I do have a Linden Home, but of course it's on an island of empty homes. There are no people. Like, ever. This doesn't feel like a home at all. So I started looking at apartments. I think they are called skyboxes? Those are fancier but even more secluded than my Linden Home. If I understand correctly, I'm basically in a box in that situation. Are there any residential areas where you can actually have neighbors? A place where you can pay rent to ensure the area is actually lived in (as opposed to these empty Linden neighborhoods). If you could drop some names of such places, I'd really appreciate it.

Ah, I meant home, not apartment. Your solution worked perfectly. This place is a ghost town anyway.I doubt I annoyed anyone.

Pubs and bars aren't my scene. I'm only looking for platonic relationships. Are there any places like cafes around to sit around with a cup of coffee and make new friends? The ones that show up in the search feature are empty. I'll save the landmarks and check back periodically, It doesn't have to be a cafe. I used to go to a tea house but it appears to be gone. Any similar casual environment would be great.

I have one of the premium homes, and inside of it I put this little trinket that makes this little bell noise every second. Well, I quit SL a few months ago and return only to realize that sound is something that can be heard OUTSIDE of the house. So this little bell sound has been around for months around my home. My question is this: My door was unlocked. If I lock the door, will it keep sounds INSIDE? I don't want to annoy anyone! The bell is really calming though. Think meditative. It could have been worse I suppose.

If this is not the correct place to post, please let me know. I'm struggling to find an apartment. I looked at skyboxes and do not like them. I would prefer an apartment/home in a normal on the ground location. I am especially interested in communities. I found a fairy/fantasy themed area with apartments, but alas, they are full at the moment. I'm looking for something less than L300/week. I don't know much about buying/renting land. I have heard scary stories about people losing their leases because landlords left. I'd hate for that to happen. I would be willing to buy a small area of land to prevent this, but I'm not sure how I go about finding something cheap. I also considered going premium and paying for the full year, but I do not really like the homes. Could you give me any advice or point me in the direction of some areas I might look at? I LOVE fantasy based stuff, so a rental in such an area would be amazing. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm going crazy. Hours of clothes shopping and I can't find much I like because 99% everything I see is not my style. I'm looking for casual clothes - jeans, t shirts, etc. Can you point me in the direction of some stores that might carry that sort of thing?
