  1. Don't speak on my culture like you know first hand how it is, you're not black and I don't need to use massa,
  2. That's literally how you're talking to me, you're treating me in that way, literally. I'm black and I'm showing you how you are talking to me and trying to make me feel. You're offended from me being offended? okay. You are trying to treat me like an idiot for telling you something someone else said and why they won't join, so I'm talking to you how you want me to talk.
  3. I will do that, thank you Masta, oh boy oh boy, yes sir, Masta. I'z gonna go have fun with my prompts Masta'.
  4. It doesn't have to say anything about D.E.I, All D.E.I is is just a political ideology but it's based around certain thoughts and opinions. Just because someone isn't saying the words "D.E.I." doesn't mean they aren't talking about D.E.I or elements there of. and what people mean by things feeling less organic is not being against D.E.I at all, so you're pushing straws atm. What they mean is "be diverse organically, not by force." That's literally all people are saying. They don't want to be told or forced into it, they just want it to feel authentic. You're getting upset and angry. "I want to be included but included as a human being and an individual." that's all it says.
  5. here is an article about it, this is one https://www.documentjournal.com/2024/05/second-life-virtual-world-gamer-furry-identity-world/ a negative impression left by a journalist and what they think about the world of second life, found
  6. Why wouldn't it be? if it's a large sentiment of why people are avoiding Second Life and you're asking why and how we can get people to join second life again, why wouldn't it be something you'd want to know? If you go to a restaurant and others are avoiding it, would you not want to know the entire reason why that restaurant is being avoided? EVERY opinion and comment is crucial and should be known. ChatGPT pulls from sources around the internet, so it's literally pulling from what other people are saying, so it's literally giving you what is being said by other people.
  7. I'll do whatever I want to do that is within my rights. You don't get to tell me what to do. Me posting how people feel and asking what people think is nothing wrong with it. You're telling me to apply critical thinking skills, basically you are calling me stupid, which is insulting. I never once name called you a name or tried to bully you into submission or tried to tell you to think a different way, yet here you are attacking me for simply showing what others are thinking. It just said, if you read, people think Second life looks outdated, lacks beauty, it's too old, the diversity of it doesn't feel organic, they want fantasy to be returned to it. That's all it says, you're just looking at D.E.I alone, when it's clearly saying that people just don't like when something feels forced, that's the whole thing.
  8. Or you can not attack someone because of their opinions beliefs or expressions, in which you are doing. It was asked why people are avoiding it, I asked why, it gave me this and I presented it. You're attacking me for just simply presenting the data that I've found while trying to defend it, which I assume you're an ally. Which now makes me think you're not that, simply due for you attacking me just now. If you didn't want to know about it, then don't ask why people are leaving or not wanting to play, it's that simple. The fact that I'm here doesn't prove that I am against it in any way but people like you are pushing me against it, while you are calling yourself my ally when you haven't been my ally at all.
  9. I asked is Second life D.E.I, here is the results. and gave a few links https://lindenlab.com/careers
  10. Don't ask me, ask A.I. and or google. I just asked for reasons people are not joining and why are they leaving.
  11. I asked what is the biggest reasons why people are not joining Second Life
  12. You will always have puritans who want to pretend to be the moral party and have morality behind them, even if they're the most immoral.
  13. Nintendo Playstation Xbox World of Warcraft Everquest Gaia online IMVU Valve Rockstar Games Facebook Youtube Reddit Link'd In Star Wars the Old Republic Runescape Guild Wars still available Eve Online, still going Ultima Online Anarchy Online Lineage 2 Age of Conan: Unchained Cabal Online The Lord of the Rings Online Dungeon and Dragons, Online Mabinogi Maplestory You can still play Final Fantasy 11, which is still active There are many Platforms, games, game companies that have been around for 20+ years, I don't know why you're asking me this but these are just some examples. In any case, Second Life wants more people and I want it to be alive more, if you don't like that then oh well. It can only achieve that through updating and becoming more available to several other people, without destroying computers.
  14. Which means you don't have to look at them or deal with them.
  15. I half agree. Keeping second life how it has been, all the time, clearly have not been working. Stagnation destroys any platform and I don't want the platform to die. I want to be able to leave and return and still see that it is around, when i take my break to decompress from the platform. I want to see more people using it. If majority of people say "It's too expensive" then prices should be looked at "it's too hard to learn" it should be adjusted for those who are having a hard time learning it. I've watched so many of the games I loved, die because they refused to update and or change themselves.
  16. Incidentally, I asked A.I to find the biggest reasons why people leave Second Life or don't want to join. I asked it to look several places and it concluded that these are the main reasons " You're correct that sexuality alone isn’t the dominant reason people leave or avoid **Second Life**—many VR platforms, like VRChat, incorporate sexual themes and maintain a thriving community. Here are the *biggest factors* based on external critiques and user reviews: --- ### **1. Complexity and Learning Curve** - **Reason:** New users often find Second Life overwhelming. The platform requires significant time to learn how to navigate, customize avatars, and participate in its economy. Compared to other VR and online spaces, it lacks user-friendly onboarding systems. - **Impact:** Casual users often abandon it quickly, feeling intimidated by its complexity and dated tutorials. --- ### **2. Outdated Graphics and Technology** - **Reason:** Second Life’s engine and visuals are considered outdated. Even with updates, it doesn’t compare favorably to modern virtual platforms like VRChat, which offer smoother and more immersive environments. - **Impact:** The dated aesthetics and clunky performance discourage those accustomed to high-quality graphics and seamless VR experiences. --- ### **3. High Costs and Paywalls** - **Reason:** Although basic access is free, meaningful participation (e.g., premium avatars, land ownership, and event participation) often requires financial investment. This contrasts sharply with platforms where users can achieve similar experiences at lower or no cost. - **Impact:** Many users feel that it’s a "pay-to-play" ecosystem, which alienates casual players. --- ### **4. Dwindling User Base and Lack of Social Interaction** - **Reason:** As the user base declines, finding active communities or events becomes challenging. New users may feel isolated or fail to connect with others, which undermines the social aspect of the game. - **Impact:** A lack of meaningful interactions often leads to frustration and abandonment. --- ### **5. Limited Innovation and Competition** - **Reason:** Competing platforms like VRChat and Minecraft offer better social tools, modern visuals, and VR integration. Second Life has struggled to adapt quickly to these competitors’ innovations. - **Impact:** Users seeking cutting-edge virtual experiences often migrate to more dynamic platforms. --- ### **6. Technical Issues** - **Reason:** Lag, frequent crashes, and high hardware demands are common complaints. These issues make Second Life less accessible to users with standard equipment, despite its aging engine. - **Impact:** Persistent technical problems alienate users who expect stability and ease of access. --- ### **7. Reputation as a Niche Platform** - **Reason:** Second Life is often associated with niche interests, such as roleplaying, adult content, and unique communities, which may not appeal to broader audiences. - **Impact:** New users who don’t align with these niches may feel out of place or disinterested. --- These factors combined create barriers that other platforms have managed to overcome, leading users to leave or avoid **Second Life** entirely. Its ability to retain and attract users depends heavily on addressing these fundamental issues while embracing modern trends in VR and online gaming. So it's pretty much what They've been "Trying to work on" but have been receiving pushback on. Sexuality isn't something that kills the game, however, it's the stigmatism that surround it to make it seem ONLY like a sex game with niches. This last part seems to me that they are saying "There isn't much to do and not everyone want to be sexual or roleplay or do this or that." which is what they're still doing on any other Virtual World. I've played and watched others Minecraft, VRChat, IMVU ect and trust me, adults do adult things on those games.
  17. Groupism has happened since the dawning of mankind. You can't force your way into circles, you have to do the work required for them to feel as if you're one of them. If you're not one of them, move onto the next. You're not going to be accepted by everyone and as long as their are difference, people will have different opinions about one another rather it's how you dress, act, look, the way you speak, how you talk. You cannot force inclusivity, anyway. No matter how hard you try, you cannot force someone to like or accept you, you can only find those friends that will accept you and be there for you, when needed. Second Life is no different. Even if you go elsewhere, to IMVU, to VRChat, to Roblox, you will always find cliques, friend groups, circles, the boys, the girls, etc. The problem is is that sims are not welcoming to certain groups or individuals, as a whole, in my opinion so there need to be an incentive to make sims for certain groups of interest, and create more communities that are able to feel safe. They, also, need to make it more affordable to make sims and manage a sim, especially since more people live paycheck to paycheck than not, it's not the time for many people to be buying land and spending money, when they cannot yet afford their own bills.
  18. You probably seen PBR textures on your land, before you relogged. Lindens were probably playing with PBR land textures and seeing how it would work. I assume they're slowly updating mainland, slowly or just partially.
  19. Going into Philip's Twitter, I am a little concerned that his political views will affect Second life, when Second Life should be politically homeless imo. He wants to attract "Youth" and majority of youth happen to be Moderate or conservative, so would benefit second life as to not bring politics anywhere near second life, if you want to give it a chance to grow. If you do have to have politics, you'll have to figure out how to make it a middle of the road type of thing, where no voice and opinion is more or less than another. I'd just find a way to keep any and all political leans out of it. I read several of his recent tweets and to avoid any hostilities, Second Life should remain homeless to political opinions. And please don't start talking to me about being an ally. If you're an actual ally and you haven't started seeing us "minority" as apart of the majority and if you are still focusing on our skin color then you're not an ally. If we can't see each other as equal human beings without categorizing each other into culture and flesh then we're not actually striving for equality. I'm not an African American, I'm an American and I just happen to have dark skin, simple and end of story. Same goes with any other American or for anyone from another country, you should see them as a human being.
  20. Dear Phil, I actually like PBR and my computer runs better on it, so if you can only help those specifically for the ones that's asking, that'll be great thanks. If you can, however, optimize Second Life to run better with more Avatars on the screen, that'll be great. Also, give creators more freedom to create what they want, with less restrictions. Allow custom armatures, increase Vertices/triangle/Edge cap for more creative freedom and allow "Collision" "armature for clothing and hair" "Clothing physics" "Physics body that have collision so that clothing and hair will not clip through that easily" or "Update the Second Life Armature to a more moderate form that will allow for more of a realistic movement that feels more organic to how the body moves and jiggle"
  21. ....People don't know yet..... If you go to Advance - Render Types and you uncheck PBR, it'll hide PBR things.
  22. I agree that there are a lot of people that just stand around, but you have to ask yourself why do most people stand around or be at their own sims? People like to talk crap when I say this, but it's more so that people don't like being told what to do and how to look. People, also, cannot mind their own business. You have a lot of rules, that vary, for what you can look like and cannot look like. Then you have cliques, you cannot do anything about these because they're circle of friends, which are normal for groups to be formed in humans Then you have biases that can work for or against another, forcing that bias can lead to even more hatred or struggle, if not presented correctly, pushing people away. Then you don't have a diversity of thought, in several cases. If you have a different opinion, some people will just attack you, there needs to be a diversity of thought in some way And some people just take second life way too seriously, forgetting that it isn't real life. I don't know how turning it into more of a "Gaming thing will work" especially if it has "pvp" in it. If you turn it into cyberpunk 2077 or an FPS, several people I can guarantee you would not like forced pvp, so that will drive many people away.. However I think Second life does need to update itself, however, but in a way that will satisfy all. If it stays how it is, it'll die. Also, I think it needs to magnify what it presents. "A world of creativity and imagination, where you can do anything you want, be anything you want." at the same time. There are too many restrictions upon itself, especially for creators who want to create and for the customer that want to get creative. For example, 38 objects to wear isn't actually enough, but I understand that it will lag some people, making it harder to get really creative for some people. Avatars have limitations and details are limited. Physics are limited, hair is limited, you can't even have flowy mesh hair. Skirts, dresses, aren't even able to behave like actual clothing.. If Second Life can be optimized better and be able to up its appeal inworld, by looks and feel, I think it'll have a bigger audience, when people see that they can really create something that is unique to them.
  23. Make Second Life for kids isn't something that I see going well. The Lindens have to create a way for Adults to start coming into Second life, and want to stay. It would be more beneficial to start bringing in more young adults, that will stick around. However, the biggest problem is the older Second Life users and the progression of Second Life itself, doesn't see eye to eye. Younger adults like pretty looking things in the form of good graphics, they like simplistic U.I., things that aren't too complicated to learn, detail, and yet be optimized and work really well with their computer. They, also, like having fun and not being told what to do. Older S.Lers (some), on the other hand, Don't even want to update second life nor their computer.
  24. Considering that Second life is accessible to ages 16+, I assume that "young people" is ages 16 - 24 years old. If he's talking about young adults, then I feel he means 18 - to 24 years old, somewhere in that ballpark or, basically younger than Millennials. I assume he is trying to target Gen Z which is like 12 - 27 years old, since Gen Alpha would be around 14 years old as of 2024 so they'd be too young for Second Life.
