  1. If you don't love Suspiria, she should leave you cold. She does at least leave me cold. Come on. Just admit Willow's right .. :robottongue:
  2. You're still here for the turkey shoot, ain'tcha ? ETA : You cannot possibly be here in this thread for a mere piggy-back ride.

Griffin Ceawlin : Member of the infamous Forum "Hit Squad," though still "awaiting confirmation." Seems confirmation has been established by Willow. Or are you not here joined by others to have a blast at a possible turkey shoot ? :robotindifferent:
  4. Yeah, ok, fair enough. You read it more thoroughly. The date of the recently released trailer, march 20th, confused me.
  5. Development days ( called Genesis ) for Patterns are over, me thinks. The announcement on Steam is a product release. It's out there now officially and has an official trailer (on Steam). Perhaps it's not quite finished yet, but it's being sold and is no longer under 'heavy' development. Even has a price on it .. about 10 USD ( EUR 7,99 ) .
  6. One advantage Steam has for me personally is the ability to use country-specific ( non-US ) payment options. I was rather surprised I can purchase directly with them with my normal bank-account ( something still only possible today in SL via exchange providers who charge commissions ). Steam might have had more serious breaches than SL / LL purely because of being considered more lucrative to hackers. It remains to be seen if LL would actually communicate fairly if such breaches occur. Perhaps both Steam and LL could advantage from shared expertise about such things as security breaches, left aside if we as residents have a need for a(nother) third party provider for the Second Life Viewer. My point remains : I was kinda startled to see Patterns appear earlier on Steam than the Second Life Viewer. I didn't follow Pattern' development, but thought the availiability of the SL Viewer by Steam was announced quite a while ago. Seems like a severe priority change and shift of already limited resources afaik. Patterns appears first choice to LL.
  7. Here ... so why is the Second Life Viewer still not availiable on Steam ? Been anounced sometime ago, but never going to happen ? :robotindifferent:
  8. Like Qie, I suspect GPU issues which might be resolved by re-setting up your Catalyst - driver. You might need to downgrade to a slight older driver as well to get / keep SL working too, but I never use AMD / ATI products, so maybe another ATI user might tell you which driver works best. Why not have a look inside these logs yourself and not send them ? ______________________________________________________________________________ To find your diagnostic log files, locate the SecondLife folder which contains the logs folder. Windows 7 and Vista The folder is usually located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming. If you install Second Life in a different location, the path is different. In any case, to get to the right place: In Windows Explorer, click the Start Button. In the search field (in Windows 7, it's labeled "Search programs and files" and in Windows Vista, it's labeled "Start Search"), type %appdata% and press Enter ↵. In the window that appears, open the SecondLife folder. see the logs folder for SecondLife.log, SecondLifeCrashReport.log and stack_trace.log

This is just my 2 cents...but I think part of the problem is not just outdated technology. But if some machines run SL just fine and older ones don't can we really put all the blame on SL? It's not like this is a game where all assets are already pre-installed on your machine from a disk so it can be loaded immediately and therefore have no lag. This is real time viewing and downloading happening every second we are logged in. I'm not saying anyone should go out and replace their machine every 2 years, that's a personal choice, but obviously having the latest and greatest does give you more freedom to enjoy Second Life the way the developers probably intended it to be. We disagree ( Just another user here, not a coder ). I think SL as coding technology should still be critically observed and improved, no matter what hardware configuration and mishaps of user configurations. Connectivity issues aren't as heavy on it's use as much as proper effective rendering is. SL can be compared to software ( games mostly ) of comtemporaries which also include multi-user virtual environments, texturing-on-the-fly, first person perspective and a running 'physical' engine. My point of view is that the company certainly falls short on that front. I wish their current CEO could solve these bottlenecks or had a headstart in fighting those for the better. I believe SL could be, technically speaking, much better than it is now. I even believe it's not on par with said contemporary software. Improvements on these fronts will lengthen it's sustainability imho. ( Stubbornly sticking to my previous Half-Life / Black Mesa - comparison.)

Charli Infinity wrote: Will it? or when do you think Second Life will "end" maybe because Linden Lab ends it or no one logs in anymore Been thinking about this :matte-motes-delicious: What do you think? When and why? Discuss Possibly. Maybe you will be the last resident left turning off the lights at the end the next decade of SL, who knows ? In the meantime ... Perhaps it's community can take it to a level Black Mesa has 10 years after Half-Life ... Perhaps not. :robotindifferent:
  11. Your request for Linden Lab's next slogan "Humble pricing for humble needs." has been noted and was filed accordingly. :robotindifferent: Please hold while "Your world. Our over-calculation." is re-evaluated.
  12. I don't drink coffee ; I take tea, my dear ..... :robotwink: No matter what they say ... :robotindifferent: ETA : It makes me smile realizing your signature is bolder than mine. :robothappy:

I get what you're saying. Maybe you could offer this 'trait' into the game in another thread in the Roleplay-section of the forums. It's an option worth mentioning. But in General Discussion (here) you'll be advised or commented upon by others who don't care for Bloodlines at all and are generally apathic to it.
  15. Oh , I had my share of requests and even had the necklace, but I found all in all better to ignore if not to be too much annoyed by them. Even had friends who were vampires often in SL. Vampires, on the other hand, are of course a large community of SL and have contributed a lot to it's environment even before the twilight-saga was 'mainstream' vampirism (roleplay, communities, merchandise). New SL players might be advised better, but on the other hand are usually adult or old enough to regard vamps and spamps as fiction and non-hazardous to their real life well being. Maybe infohuds could be improved sign wise to warn mildy for vampire-harassment, but that would stigmatise them as much as other fantasy creatures unnecessarily, imho.
  16. Dude .... :robotindifferent: .... have a mint instead ? .. but seriously, why be so obsessed by them and not join them ? Just ignore and decline. And you tried to save your avatars soul ? Why ? :robotindifferent: <-- Don't answer. That's like claiming I would need defibrillation ... :robotfrustrated:
  17. trixp wrote: I guess I will have to focus next on why SL users secret desire to become a robot offline then.... Would it help if I'd sign the survey with 'Steve Austin' ? :robottongue:
  18. trixp wrote: Hey guys! I know there are probably a lot of old threads about this but please hear me out! I really would like to have an open discussion about this but I've also written a few questions just to get the conversation flowing. I've also made a short survey on google for anyone who wants to remain anonymous or just doesn't feel like answering in the thread or being part of the discussion. I would appreciate ANY answers or time you take talking to me about this. I have tried to talk to people about these questions within the game but not many people are keen on discussing this stuff with me. Survey : Are you over 18 years of age? * Do I have permission to use your answers in my research? * How would you describe your gender offline? For example are you male or female or neither? Does your physical birth sex align with how you identify your gender? What gender do you choose to embody in second life? Do you use an avatar that matches your gendered body offline? If so, why? If not, why? What can of physical traits appeal to you when you are creating your avatar and why? Regardless of gender, how do you choose how you want your avatar to look? Do these traits parallel you appearance offline? If not, why do you choose these specific traits? How do you choose your gender in other virtual worlds? If you choose to embody the same or different gender online as your physical body offline in second life, do you do the same in other virtual worlds? What about in single player games? Does your sexuality offline match your sexuality online? Do you ever experiment? For example, if you are a heterosexual male offline do you always engage in heterosexual interactions on second life? Do you experiment? If you were playing as the opposite sex online how would this affect the way you engage in sexuality online? Do you ever experiment with different sexual practices online that you don't offline? Which ones? If you experiment with gender/sexuality on second life, what do you find most appealing about it? Feel free to post anything, even if you don't feel like answering all or any of the questions. I just want to pick your brain and engage in discussion with everyone! :robotsurprised: You asked them all these questions and you lack response ? :robotindifferent: ETA : My question to you is rethorical.
  19. "Amazing, ladies and gentlemen. He just shot himself in the foot and he immediately takes aim for the other and cogs his gun. What a sportsmanship !"
  20. You express yourself in a friendly manner on a topic called upon countless of times. You deserve a balanced answer. Personally I think you underestimate the technical ability to ban and challenging sim-owners with that ability has left you surpised they might act upon their rules. This does not require any moral compass. You just have to expect to get banned anytime for reasons you might never not be told. You have the right to appeal, but possibilities can be limited to not being able to appeal at all. Not even when contacting Lindenlab about it. If you willingly challenge sim-rules you simply must expect a ban.
  21. I don't know who he is. I don't think I want to either. But hey look .... I mined almost 40 diamonds in the meantime. :robotlol: Please excuse me while I salvage those in storage.
  22. Not really. You just bore too easily. Entertain me better and things might change. /me returns to his favourite game.

  24. Aside accusing Lindenlab employees and their family of unfounded criminal activities and showing contempt for their undoubted superior website managing skills , you are not entertained and call this forum boring ? You, sir, have some nerve.
