  1. Ardvina what is wrong about that? Most magazines on the planet live from selling advertising space. They create traffic and interest with editorial content and sell adverts. In fact : This forums here does exactly the same. They create user generated content and earn money from adverts place on the top and on the right. Did you ever ask the Lindens to share their advertising revenue with you?So what the problem? There is nothing evil in making money! My post here is a genuine question and I apreciate the answers. NO, Links from the forum (so-called nofollow Links) or posts on the forum do not help my SEO. Only comments on MY blog would help SEO as Google values UGC (user generated content). "I post this only for information purposes." Yeah and pigs do fly after all.
  2. Good Points Syn what about doing a customer service deal with the actual content creators then, also just like in real life. Building myself is not an option simply because I suck at it, but I am good at marketing hence the idea of a retail business.
  3. You can't resell them "as is" on the MP.. You also can't resel them "as is" inworld, you have to do some serious modifications to them. Nope. It says, you can resell them as is In-World but NOT on MP. Some even state that they are build for resell AS IS.
  4. Rosie Eun wrote: Just as an observation, I don't think I'd buy anything from your store(s). You've made it clear that you want to "sell" as an experiment, and that you'd be reselling stuff rather than making it yourself. That's two reasons right there to make me think I'll choose to spend my money somewhere else. Practical reason: If you only resell stuff, I'd prefer to buy it from the creator, as then I have the option of decent customer service if I ever have any problems. Ethical reason: If you're just doing it as an experiment for blog-fodder, why would I choose to give you my cash? Also, malls are fine, but in my experience almost always empty. When I shop, I look on MarketPlace first, then visit the in-world store. And I never buy from resellers. Rosie, a reseller can not provide customer service? Why is this? Retail (as we call it in the real world) is an absolutly legimate way to market stuff. In RL we buy stuff from retaillers very often. In fact, most of the things we buy are bought through this very typical distribution chain: Producer -- Wholeseller --Retailer -- Consumer Why would that be bad thing in a virtual world? The retailer just needs to think of a value proposition, whatever that might be. Could be lower prices, could be more choice (selling products from different designers), could be service, could be presentation or just being at the right time at the right place (i.e: a bikini shop on a beach) Is building a business and writing about it unethical? Lets assume its succesful. Would the story how it happened not be of value to readers of the blog - especially for noobs? If you get what you pay for, why would you even care what my motivation would be?
  5. Freya Mokusei wrote: Where. No reason to let standards start slipping on your blog. Is there any reason you're not considering marketplace.secondlife.com? You get quick visibility, centralised search, and it's free. Busy regions are not equivilent with sales volume, Marketplace replaces this awkward and impractical market. Malls were previously based on density and low value-adding tricks (or outright lying). Malls post-Marketplace are either vanity projects or dead, I don't think there's any value investing in them. Freya, i came accrosss several full perm products on marketplace. They state in their TOS that one is not allowed to resell their stuff on marketplace, hence the reason I though about malls. Another option would be a "mainstore" and promoting it via different media including my blog. Anyone else with an opinion about malls?
  6. Hi I am thinking about going into the retail business. My plan is to rent small jobs on busy regions and resell relevant stuff. I am not expecting to become rich, its merly an experiment I will write about on my blog. Which regions did prove to be good locations for small shops?Anyone can share experience in that? What is the price range I have to expect? If you are a sim owner of a popular themed region ( including but not limited Adult themed regions) and you have shops for rent, please get in touch with me. Contact me In-World (carolinestravels) or sen E-mail to: caroline@siemensnews.com Thanks in advance
  7. Hello Dark ... here we go: http://www.second-life-adventures.com/advertise/ Contact me In-World under carolinestravels or send E-mail to caroline@siemensnews.com
  8. Hi is there any In-World firm/shop selling their stuff (preferbly fashion) full perm to resellers?
  9. The default animations are horrid. SL was put together by the geekiest of tech geeks. People who socially seem to "live in the basement of the basement of their grandparent's asylum... Its called Nerds! but then again, that is good news to the producers of animations and AO´s. A business opportunity for several SL Residents. I wonder how much money the owner of Vista Animations is drawing out of the "game". I am sure they would not be amused if the Linden-Nerds give the starting avatars really nice animations!
  10. Ethan Paslong wrote: and please.... stop calling sl a game, as long you see it like that you don't get what it really is. I sooo agree and the avatar is not a Char! unless created for the specific purpose of role play. By the way: high fidelity is partly financed by the Lindens and partly by Google Ventures. Recently Facebook took over the company which builds a 3D Viewer Rosedale is using for his projekt!
  11. Morgan look me up inworld and say hello :-) Username: carolinestravels
  12. Ok, this was meant to be an Aprils Fools joke. But I digged a bit deeper into the subject and found this: Philip Rosedale´s firm high fidelity acquires more capital in addition to the 2.5 Million US invested by Linden Lab and Google Ventures: https://modemworld.wordpress.com/2014/03/28/high-fidelity-a-further-2-5-million-now-on-the-radar/ Philip Rosedale works on Oculus Rift project, a firm recently bought by Facebook: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2014/03/philip-rosedale-virtual-reality-oculus-rift.html http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/22/5536914/second-life-creator-wants-to-look-inside-your-brain-with-oculus-rift

I would soooo love to be suit by Facebook for an April Fools joke. What a lot of free puplicity. I would probably have to move the site to a more powerful server.

  16. Hi all here something new on the noob blog: http://www.second-life-adventures.com/seaplane-blake-sea/ Its about flying and sailing on blake sea, the most beautiful region in Second life in my opinion. Ever been here?
  17. Czari, very funny story, would you like to post this in the comments of my blog too? In my head I saw myself already chasing hundreds of little meeroos or dogs out of my art gallerie! That message for sending to heaven could possibly make you feel guilty of having killed some cute, sweet and 100% loyal robo-dogs. How can you dare to do it twice? It weird what our brain does to us sometimes. Hey, they are just a lot of scripted pixels after all.

I thought Swordsmen of Gor was the latest! You see , I am not even up to date anymore with the Gor stuff! There are 4 books after that one. Yeah, I just realized that.

For me it is a hobby...sometimes I make money with selling them, but most of the time I do it just for fun. Oh yes, and not to forget the trainpet monkeys...I had 5 or 6 of them but right now only a black spider monkey, and lots of other non breedable animals and pets who are in my inventory at the moment...actually never saw them as "robo-pets" hehe...for me they are as cute as a nice made human avatar...or should I say "robo-human", cause we sit behind the screen and control them... Sonya would you like to show me them and would you be available for an interview?
  21. Ok Somebody posted on my blog this I’ve had breedables, and while they were cute up to a point, there was the “point” of “Not Cute”. Like the scripts for one. many of them pack alot of scripts and many parcels on mainland that have packs of breedables in 20 – 30 at a time will make land prices plummet drastically because no one wants to live or sell near the damn things Therefore a technical question: If those breedables are NOT in active mode but just standing around, do they have any impact on the land? If yiu have land on the mainland and a neighbor has breedables, does that have any negativ impact on your land? @Freya Great posts, eveything said about the gor players being evil. Thank you. @Pussycat In RL I worship huge intelligent insects who secretly dominate our planet, I raise my children in our caste (the merchants that is), I have sworn unconditional loyalty to the cities (or the Bear of Berlin) Home Stone and of course I have several slaves breeded for my personal pleasure (male and female). My biggest fear is the kuuri succeding in taking over the worlds we know (Gor and Earth) and we will all become food for the habitants of the steel worlds (a bit left from the android belt that is). Thats not evil, thats honorable. (If you detect sarkasm, you may keep it) And for the records: The Gor books are not all from 1966, in fact the last one was published in 2012. The FIRST one was published in 1966.

If you do not wish to be bashed for supporting evil, then don't mention that you support evil. Its that simple. If I roleplay evil - I support evil? Seriously?
