  2. Androgyny has become an interesting twist to fashion styles and for the reason that all men and women possess both male and female qualities, AVENUE stylist Cade Nansen and I, have decided to pay homage to one of the less conventional ways of dressing up and showing how men and women can look equally striking in androgynous styles. Our first stride into Spring involves reworking the military look by injecting a vibrant color palette that will keep you looking cool and confident whilst taking charge of any given situation that demands for smart casual chic. 3. Mesh went grid-wide on Aug. 23, 2011, and I have been slowly and steadily falling in love with it. With just a handful of designers introducing mesh items in the beginning, I am happy to see more and more creators joining the mesh madness. Around that time I did a post on my own blog: Much Ado About Mesh, which gave a bit of an introduction to mesh: which viewers worked best for me at that time, what other bloggers were saying about mesh and which stores were currently offering it. Now, of course, a lot more people have joined the mesh revolution — so check out the Mesh Showcase in the Destination Guide for an updated list of designers offering mesh items. For my first outfit today, I definitely wanted to include something from coldLogic. Coldlogic is a collaboration among Damien Fate, Janie Marlowe and Zyrra Falcone. Damien Fate has always been one step ahead when it came to mesh, being one of the first designers to get in on the action. His full-perm mesh templates were extraordinary — and are still available on the marketplace. I found ColdLogic full of stylish and versatile designs. I settled on the pretty yellow reed dress because it really called out “spring” to me. Check out the coldLogic site for a look at more designs. Chain and Vine is another store that has been slowly pumping out some fantastic mesh styles at some of the best prices I've seen. You will find a growing collection of mesh items here at shockingly low prices. I picked up this light spring dress in green, but you can also find long skirts, dresses, minis, tanks and more. Check out the Chain and Vine site for a closer look. Ladies Who Lunch carries mostly high couture designs that are full of so much life and color. I am constantly amazed at the creations being pumped out of this stylish boutique. Almost all of the newest releases from LWL have been mesh, or have pieces of mesh incorporated into the design. The lower half of the skirt I am wearing is mesh, as are the shoes (which are not visible in the picture). Check out the Ladies Who Lunch site for more mesh. It's great to see more and more mesh designers picking up and using the Standard Sizing Package. It makes life easier, and I've discovered the small size fits me well for most of the items. Here are a few more stores whose mesh items I adore: Maitreya, SLink, Rebel Hope and LeeZu. I am also loving that my favorite hair stores are starting to incorporate mesh hair and hair pieces into their styles. Check out Truth, Exile, Elikatira and Wasabi Pills. Finally, don't forget to check out the adorable mesh avatar Flufee, created by Loki Dancer and available on the marketplace. Flufee is also somewhat of a celebrity and has his own YouTube channel where you can watch his mesh adventures. Check out the "Flufee on a Meshion" videos by Draxtor Depres for some hilarious meshy fun! I made a guest appearance in Episode 11! 8. The following article is from our "Capture Love" image contest winner, Spike Clémenceau-Silent! My original idea when joining the "capture love" contest was to show that there are many types of love in Second Life, which bring people happiness - not only the romantic kind. My current family Genesis Order Horde, is basically a close group of friends and family members who love and respect each other, while living in harmony and peace and welcoming anyone who wishes to live such a lifestyle while having fun - we are a clear example of it. Parenting has truly made me a better man. I have learned, as is reflected in the picture, to slow down and just look at the simple things in life, like a good comforting dawn or sunset with my son while having coffee and catching up about our things - something we try to do every morning - and has helped me to put things in perspective. I am a happy parent of two boys - my partner, Onyx, always corrects me and calls them men, but to me they'll always be my boys. Skylar, the eldest, is the one in the picture and my youngest is Seymour. Valentine’s Day is initially thought out to be for couples, but of all the love I experience day after day in Second Life, the one I feel truly blessed and privileged to experience is the one I feel for my son, he has truly changed my life and how I interact with Second Life. Backatcha Sky! Spike Clémenceau-Silent, Appointed Eldest of the Genesis Order Horde, a popular Second Life destination, DJ and co-owner of Club Se>en and columnist for Gayworldsnews & Sex and Second life, currently parent of two, Seymour Greymoon and Skylar Silent, founder and owner of SCS Designs. Rezzed in Second life on March 14 2010.

  12. Protecting Second Life users’ privacy and security is a priority, and today, we’ve made some changes to our Policy on Third Party Viewers to strengthen those protections for all users (Section 2.a.iii, 2.i, 2.j). We’ve also updated the policy to be clearer about the sorts of innovations that developers should work on for their particular Viewers (Section 2.k), and which they should work on in partnership with Linden Lab for all of Second Life. This is so that we can avoid the problems that result when a Viewer changes the way elements of Second Life are defined or how they behave, in such a way that users on other Viewers don't experience the same virtual reality. Here are the new sections of the policy: 2.a.iii : You must not provide any feature that circumvents any privacy protection option made available through a Linden Lab viewer or any Second Life service. 2.i : You must not display any information regarding the computer system, software, or network connection of any other Second Life user. 2.j : You must not include any information regarding the computer system, software, or network connection of the user in any messages sent to other viewers, except when explicitly elected by the user of your viewer. 2.k : You must not provide any feature that alters the shared experience of the virtual world in any way not provided by or accessible to users of the latest released Linden Lab viewer. We encourage Third Party Developers to continue innovating with unique user interfaces, niche features, and ways of interacting with the virtual world, and we look forward to working in partnership with developers on ideas they have for new or improved shared experiences for all of Second Life. We want to incorporate more innovative new features into Second Life to improve the experience for all users, and we encourage TPV developers to submit proposals through our standard process.
  13. The Received Items Beta launches on Aditi today. Received Items is a new subsection of Inventory where all incoming items, including purchases, gifts, shared, and returned items, will be placed. Received Items is displayed in a separate section of your inventory panel in the Second Life Viewer, making it easier for Residents to see and manage incoming objects. This Beta is a chance for Residents to try out these new capabilities. It also provides Second Life business owners with advance notice so they can plan for any additional communication or customer support around this upcoming change. The production deploy is currently planned for mid to late March, so please help to spread the word! Because Received Items and Direct Delivery will use the new Received Items folder, both systems will launch together. If you would like to try out Received Items, please see the Received Items Beta instructions on the wiki. These instructions include pointers to Knowledge Base articles and ways to provide feedback. UPDATE: Feb 29, 2012 We’d like to thank everyone who has provided feedback on the Received Items Beta. We will be launching Direct Delivery without redirecting any other objects to the Received Items folder. (Direct Delivery purchases will still be sent to the Received Items folder). We will be soliciting additional feedback on Received Items by contacting Residents who respond to this survey by 5pm PT March 1, 2012. We will do our best to speak to as many of those who participate as possible as we move forward with work on this feature.

  21. An ethereal wisp glides through a fantasy forest and then vanishes, only to reappear at your side a few seconds later. Dozens of beetles and rats creep across the floor of a decaying, decrepit building, scurrying away whenever you get near. A hideous, scaly beast chases you up hills and across regions, dodging anything that gets between it and dinner. These experiences are possible because Linden Lab is about to unveil a new, robust pathfinding system that will allow objects to intelligently navigate around the world while avoiding obstacles. Pathfinding is a new set of LSL calls and Viewer tools that allow for smoother and smarter movement for non-player characters and objects in Second Life. These new tools will allow Residents to create objects that move around corners, climb inclines and cross region boundaries. Newly created functions such as “pursue,” “patrol,” “wander,” “evade,” and go to a specified point — all of which are particularly useful for pet, NPC and enemy behavior — will allow for non player movements and behaviors never before possible in Second Life. Pathfinding is efficient because it allows creators to place a much larger number of moving objects in a particular area without affecting server performance. Because the algorithmic complexity is on the server side, Residents can easily script with short and intuitive LSL functions that make creating a pet that follows you around as simple as rezzing a box. As part of the pathfinding project, Linden Lab will also introduce new Viewer-side tools that will allow Residents to more efficiently create, visualize, test and debug Pathfinding-enabled characters. These tools are not required to create pathfinding behaviors but are particularly useful to builders and experience creators in second life. Additional pathfinding tools, and the ability to generate your own pathing data, will be put in Beta in the coming weeks. Linden Lab will begin releasing these tools to all Residents in the next several months. You can try out the new LSL functionality in select regions for which we have prepared pathfinding data on the Wiki page: http://bit.ly/wDrWhC . UPDATE: 9/20/2012 Content Creation Best Practices Guide and FAQ Now Available As many of you are aware, we recently released the pathfinding server code that enabled all pathfinding behaviors and LSL calls grid-wide. In the next few weeks, we will also be releasing the viewer tools for changing pathfinding attributes and visualizing the navmesh. While these tools are not necessary to create a pathfinding-enabled character, they are extremely helpful in making new content or retrofitting existing builds to work with pathfinding. You can have early access to the viewer tools by downloading the beta viewer from here. In addition, there are many helpful pathfinding best practices articles at the Good Building Practices wiki hub. Here you will find tips and tricks about how to build and optimize content in Second Life using mesh, scripting, pathfinding, textures, and animations. Over the next several months, the Lab will continue to add additional guides, as well as a series of builder-oriented tutorial videos! The Lab would also like to take this opportunity to answer some of the common questions that have been asked about pathfinding here. We have been very impressed by some of your pathfinding-enabled creations and can’t wait to see what else you will create once the viewer tools are released!
  22. Hello, Yesterday, we posted a summary of the downtime we experienced on Valentine’s Day. We indicated in that post that there were still some orders that needed to be pushed through to completion. We want to assure merchants who have orders in the “Being Delivered” state that we are currently pushing those orders to completion and reconciling the payout to the merchants. We anticipate that orders in this state should be processed by end of day Thursday. Once these are complete, we will post another update here, along with details on how to address any orders that are still stuck. Best regards, The Commerce Team
