OK, I was just inquiring that's all, I have suspected the sata ports for a long time but it don't get away from the fact that two of the partitions were fine and a third was destroyed with all three on one hard disk plugged into one sata port, so the sata ports are not to blame for this, but I do think it odd that you should give an answer so close to my own train of thought when I do my best not to expose it, that is all, just see me as a fruit, every one else does.

If you assume the code is in the image, the image can just be a key, like a picture of Big Ben, it is a static image that is repeated, like a work of art then that could be the key, any image can be the key, the code is in the innocent program as data looking random but when XORed with a certain image could produce code. So any computer would looked fine and virus free until a certain image was shown on it or on a texture and a segment of code would be made and executed.

I am saying that is how would do it, could hide any code or data in an image not poss to scan them because an image pattern is only related to humans and not to logic, there is no algorithm that I can think of that could see any form of code pattern in a image, what do you relate a picture to, a program can only relate a bit pattern to another pattern and with virus hunters it relates to instructions executed, an image would give those patterns at random with no order to compute so must be seen as random data and ignored, but just XOR a repeating string over that image and like magic a line of code appears that does relate to every action in the machine but the virus scanner has gone thinking it all random, any clearer?

You would need a program on the PC that looked innocent, it could create a field of data, then XOR it over the bytes of a texture, you can hide patterns of bits in a picture that can not be seen any other way than to XOR it with an image or data field, the program that looks innocent can then transfer this new bit pattern into the code areas and run it, that way you can bypass every virus hunter on the market, well that's how I would do it with textures, not that I would.

OK you got me thinking, you do know I can see the whole works of Shakespeare on the back of a cornflakes packet, some say I am mad, but your post gives more questions than answers, let us suppose something, let us suppose that you are a linden, was over a year ago I had problems with my brand new computer bought just for sl, was at the time a super duper machine, now during a time of the keep crashing I did report errors to the lindens, they asked me to send a files that had lots of data about the crashing including the machine type, that PC went back to the shop 5 times always the same problem sata faller on the DVD disk drive, a new mother board made no dif, neither the shop (PC world) or the PC maker (Packard bell) could fix it and strung me along till the warranty run out, I have noticed that Packard bell tend to make more laptops now and have dropped the games machines, now could this be because their games machine mother board was pure crap, if so how do you know about it and are you saying that all 4 sata ports on the Packard bell games machines have a fault due to bad design? You seem to have to much info that I thought only privy to me.

That's why I created 3 drives on one hard drive, the one drive was connected to one sata socket, yet the P: drive was dead including the partition, yet the two others were fine, I did think it could have been a sata port but that last test proved the sata port was fine, cos all 3 drives would have been dead would they not, as for a virus, it was the virus program supplied with the NAS 213+ that told me these programs had a worm, when I tried to copy them from the main drives to the new cloud in the NAS, not just sl browser but scuplty93 and the lsl editor, it auto deleted them which is a pity cos in my young days I was good at 86 assembler, so could have de assembled them to see where things would have been sent

To all the other creators out there, OK porky was nice to me so I feel like being nice to you, if you want a future in creating for virtual worlds then learn how to transfer your stuff to all grids including home grids, msdcs does this by having a preloaded database for the os sim stuff, but it would be nice if you could sell you stuff in those worlds to, there is no reason as to why the merchants here don't have web sites selling there stuff in real currency that can be delivered in any world, you all have a future if you help yourselves, and being rude to people like me only excludes you from any good ideas I have leaving me to give only negative views

I am sorry, but you are in a vipers den here, I have owned businesses here from estates to shops, in the early days I owned 31 sims and was making a good profit till the crash came, I found that the profit came from the older market, then after the teen grid joined so a lot of the older people with money left, now all we have left are business people and kids that just want everything free, businesses are closing and going at an accelerated speed, I think the future is in making grids available to the home, I can see a place in that market for you, I am currently exploring the use of home servers to run grids that have a static IP so making them available to any one in the world, most of these NAS servers have streaming, so I see your market in setting up that kind of service for either home grids or public grids, music and video streaming in sl is an art along with understanding copyright laws, well you seem to have the skills that would suit that, you could get your own NAS server a static IP and provide these stream services, the great thing about a NAS is that it becomes a stand alone server, so only when you turn it off at home will your web server be down, and all you pay for is the band width, plus you can provide web and streaming services to anyone. Make your service wide enough to to include not just sl but all OS worlds and home servers, if you had such I thing then I would include you in my advice to others in setting up home grids. I can give you advice on how to setup a home grid that any one in the world can log on to, but this does need you to have a server in your home on 24/7, I am lucky and have a 25meg download speed with a 5meg upload speed so can run a server from home, if you have a slow link then it will become trouble, but I am fiber optic up to my front door almost, well the green cabinet outside

It is true that as IE is supplied with the operating system that there are global rules on what it can do, so it can't download selling stuff and some cookies, but as firefox or chrome are not supplied with the operating system then they have a much wider brief and can put stuff on your machine that IE is not allowed to do, I would never trust a site that said don't use IE, as I know IE is one of the only browsers that HAS to protect us, so use firefox and chrome at your own risk and never trust a company that says you have to use them and not IE.

There is a huge difference from SL to RL, by now you are getting the treatment from the regulars here for trying to be different, for a start SL is more like a school yard and this forum has a lot of its bullies, then you have the people types, in real life people go to clubs to pull and get out of it, well in sl most of the people that go to the clubs are so big that they can't get out of their reinforced chairs so don't have a clue about clubs in real life, and they spend all their money on computer stuff and creating a image here that looks better than their huge bulk in real life. Plus people here wont spend money on things they want for free, by now you should have worked out that the bigger your frame the more you want for nothing, so i think you will have to pay them cos sl has more freeloaders than any place in the world. Sl does run mainly on the greed motive all round, doing as little as poss for as much as poss, how do you think they get to the size they are.

I would not know as I am new to it, I have no intention of spamming anyone, I got this system to explore the idea of personal world wide grids, I see that as the future, sl and all the OS sims out there are a dieing breed when you can set up a personal grid on your own machines. It is more complex that that, I have just set up my own 24/7 server system with mail servers, what I found is that at first my static IP was banned from sending emails, seems all are until you agree to conditions, I had to agree that I would only use a static IP and that I would not use other IP's to send mail, (you can set mail servers up to send out mail using other IP's), I also had to agree that I would use the email server as a email server for the reason I stated I was using it for, was told the moment I was thought to be breaking the agreement that my IP would be banned world wide from sending emails, so it is not just setting a mail server and spamming all, seems every mail server is monitored
