When i start SL i only see a black and grey screen and i cant quit it, what is it?

Maybe you can include some information about your system like "video card" "amount of memory" " cpu" etc etc. It will be easier to help you

You should first check the System Specifications to make sure yours meets the requirements to run SL.  You can find them here: https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US

 

If your system does meet the requirements then edit your post to include more information and we can try to help further

Did you try updating your graphic card drivers already?

Hello xXmarloXx and welcome to SL Forums. Seems like a graphics issue. As already mentioned download the last drivers for your graphics card (assuming that your system meets the requirements for SL):

• Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
• Amd: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
• Intel: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/

If this doesn't fix your issue, try a different viewer:

me too, my laptop had to be reset and I lost everything off it, now when i download secondlife, even an older version of it, all i get is a black/grey screen and like the others it wont quit. Can anyone explain?
