Where are my textures saved on my computer?

You know those textures that you buy or those that someone gave it to you,does them get saved on my computer or not?

Hello LenAmaterasu. They are saved in your inventory. If a texture has full permissions you can save it on your computer. Just open it --> Save as.

Textures you purchase or aquire in SL (or Market Place) are not saved to your computer.  They are saved to your inventory which is stored on the Linden Lab servers.  As LoveAngel pointed out, if the textures are full permissions you can save them to your hard drive.....but it's separate process that you must take to get them there.

Everything in SL is stored in the asset servers. When you see it in your viewer a copy has been downloaded to your computer for use by your viewer. That copy can be found in the cache.

The textures and mesh objects in the cache are not in an easily usable format. So, you are NOT going to open the cache and look at images. This is done to provide some protection to Intellectual Property Rights.

Like anything else digital, that protection can be defeated. It takes some research. Most SL users won't be helpful. For textures people figure out the obvious work around pretty quickly on their own. Many of us feel helping is assisting with theft.
