Avatar totally messed up.

Hello.  I spent alot of time setting up my Avatar's appearance two years ago.  I did something tonight that totally messed it up.  Now, I can't get my original appearance back.  Can you please restore my appearance as it was yesterday?  Please??

I got an obvious question.  What did you do to mess your avatar up?  I know that if you knew exactly what it was you'd be able to fix it without help.......what I mean is what were you doing when your avatar became messed up?  Were you editing your appearance?  Trying different debug settings?  Accepted an item from someone and wore or attached it?  All you told us that you "did something".  That does not help anyone help you.........we need a clue or something.

 

To respond use the "Options" in the upper right hand corner of the text box in your original post and "Edit".  This blogging software disquised as forum software doesn't allow you to respond to anything in a thread you started........and that's the only work around we have.  Starting a new thread to answer my question(s) only confuses and makes it harder for anyone (including you) to get help.

Hi Avi, this is a resident forum so nothing we can do to restore you and even if you contact LL I don't think they would do a roll back.  So likely you are pretty much stuck with fixing your avie or buying a new one : (

One thought...check that you are wearing the correct skin and shape;  if you misclicked and are wearing wrong item you can look messed up quickly

Hello Avi and welcome to SL Forums. You have to fix it alone. Try to follow some suggestions and see if something helps (i think it does):

1. Move to a region without lag, or better relog there. Protected lands like Smith, Exeuxoa or Anzere are recommended.
2. Open your inventory type something in search there and wait fetching all your items till the last one. When fetching finishes, try to change outfit choosing choosing one with just the necessary stuff (skin, shape, hair, eyes, pants and shirt) without any attachments. Wait some seconds and rebake your textures with Ctrl+Alt+R. Repeat same process if it is necessary.
3. If the problem remains follow the suggestions at the following link: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_​fail They work for all viewers.
4. If still you haven't fixed your problem, obviously you have corrupted files in your computer. If so, you have to delete them and to download new ones. To do that, delete all contests at the following folder and after repeat steps 1 and 2: C: \ Users \ (USER NAME) \ ApplData \ Local \ Secondlife / If the folder Appdata is a hidden, --> Windows Tools \ Folder Options \ View & enable Show Hidden Files/Folders
5. Only if you have problems about fiting, you can ask a friend or someone to help you. If so, find someone, friend him/her and after open his profile --> settings (beside the envelope) --> Permissions --> choose "Edit, delete or take my objects" --> Save.

Surely you saved your shape somewhere? 

Unless you have lost or modified your shape somehow, recovering all the rest should just be a matter of looking in your inventory and finding the skin, hair, and clothing you normally wear.

If you don't have a backup copy of your shape...shame on you!  And you will have to re-create it using the Appearance sliders as best you can.
