Can a scripted Object that takes over your Camera move smoothly?

I have been fiddling around with llLookAt, but even in Physical state the Object will seem to move smoothly, except when I use it to make it keep looking at my Avatar. The view moving updates with stutters, which is too bad as I'm looking for a way to have a decent machinima camera. I heard the SpaceNavigator is a way to do it, but it costs money, which is not a problem, but I heard there are problems with it, neither am I sure if my current Viewer supports it. (Exodus.)

So, can anyone help?

you just need to play  to play with the 2 damping parameters to get it right.

oh, and your timer or sensor whatever it is. make a bigger pause between polling on the rotation of avatar, and longer damping, so it will have more time to turn, and the object will not be forced to move quickly.
