Your AppData folder is probably hidden as this is default Windows. Here are instructions:

Delete the Second Life folders in AppData > Roaming and AppData > Local.

If AppData is hidden, you need to enable viewing. Follow the instructions for your OS here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74220 or here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html

If you wish to save existing chat files you've had with other avatars, move the Roaming > [avatar name] folder elsewhere on your computer and drag any chat text files you wish to retain into the new Roaming > [avatar name] folder once Second Life is reinstalled and you've logged in at least once. Ignore if you don't want to save any.

You must reboot your computer after deleting these folders and before restarting Second Life.

If this occurs, chance are good that the inventory cache is corrupt. Deleting it should solve the problem.

  • Locate your cache folder. You will probably need to do this manually, if you are unable to log in. Use a file manager (like Windows Explorer for Windows system, Dolphin, or some such) to locate the cache folder. In its default location, the cache folder is hidden on most OSs. To find it, you will need to show hidden folders. Default cache locations for Firestorm are:
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[uSERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Firestorm\Cache
    • Windows Vista: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm\Cache
    • Windows 7: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm\Cache
    • Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firestorm
    • linux: ~/.firestorm/cache
  • In this folder, locate the files named data.db2.x.* and index.db2.x.* (where * is a digit: 0, 1, 2, etc; you may have more than one of each type of file)
  • Delete all files that match these two names.
  • Log back into SL, to a quiet region (try the Phoenix Support parcel or a Linden water region such as aich or hatton). Allow your inventory to repopulate fully.

If the above fails, then try doing a full wipe of all settings.

If you are using a viewer other than Firestorm, your cache may be in a different location, usually near the location shown here.

Hello. Try this.

1) Uninstall the viewer.

2) Use a program for delete damaged archives like CCleaner or another of your preference.

3) Delete the instalation folders from your viewer. Before uninstall, take a look at Preferences/Advances and take note about the folder's paths for logs and cache. Try delete all the stuff inside the folders, but you save logs, preserve that.

4) Now, you must clean the "regedit". Start/Run/regedit. You must see a windows divided in two parts; folders and archives. In the Edit Menu select "Find" and write in the box "Second Life". the sistem shows you many Folders or archives wich you must delete one per one. Some cases, only the archive, some others, the complete folders. If you use F3 the window will be showing you the next archive/folder to must delete. When finish this procedure, change the keyword for "SecondLife" (without separation between words) and you could find more archives and folders for delete.Often you can find here, the mother of all the troubles with SL. You could find a BIG list of instalation registered. Must be sure delete ALL the olds SL archives and folders inside.

5) Restart your computer and install again the SL viewer.

TIP: deactivate the automatic upgrade and do this in manual way allways ;-)

Regards, Adolfh
