You don't need to. Sounds like SL is trying to install an update.

No idea why this would be happening, but (in Windows) you can right-click the shortcut and Run as Administrator.

To keep from having to do that every time you launch the viewer, right-click the shortcut, click Properties, and on the Compatibility tab, check Run this program as an administrator.

May vary depending on Windows version.

It's not Second Life talking to you.  It's your computer.  Your computer will not let you install a program unless you have permission. If you don't have administrator privileges (maybe it's not your machine), find someone who does.
