Scripted Agents

I have a quick question:  I am considering creating a scripted agent account (or bot) to use as a greeter in my store and I am wondering...if you create a bot account does it require a viewer running 24 hours a day to stay inworld?  In other words:  it would need Phoenix running perpetually to be inworld and visible in my store?  Or will it just stay behind the reception desk all the time?

Yes. A bot is just a normal account, like yours or mine. What makes them a bot is the viewer they use.

Usually it's a text based viewer because it's low resource and low bandwith, with features like group invite or full sim scanning.

Either way though, you'd need to have a viewer running full time if you wanted the bot there full time.

I myself use a small application made for me that uses very little resources on my PC and is just a coded interface.  I turn it on and it logs my Agents and sets them to their respective objects using that objects location and UUID.

I was pretty happy with the system I used last year.  I don't use it anymore because I've pretty much shifted to marketplace.  You can search for BOT on marketplace and see what the options are (or send me an inworld message).
