You can't.  Your inventory is essentially a lookup table that tells where the information about each of your assets is stored in LL's servers.  There are no "things" in your inventory.  To find how many prims an object is made of, you need to rez it and look.

if you need land to rez the stuff on in order to check their prim count i'd recommend a sandbox - http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Building-tips/ta-p/700041#Section_.4 - but choose a low traffic one, less likely to get hit by griefers.
