the items in my inventory in Phoenix Viewer are not loading. the viewer is newly installed because it is a new hard drive. everything works until I try to find a specific item. the folders get marked as forever "loading" and the viewer quits after a few mins of this. any ideas?

You might want to have a look at this thread over in the server forum.

Short version -- try the current V2 or the latest beta version of Firestorm.   These incorporate a new method of dealing with inventory loading that's far faster and far more efficient than that in Phoenix or any other Snowglobe-based viewer.

V2 does not work on my computer. the avi is not loading in Firestorm either.

Innula gave a good answer. The new and older viewers use different processes to retrieve inventory. However, there are other possible issues. You can read through this to see if any of it will help.

Try setting a new cache location for Firestorm, separate from the Phoenix one. It's going to take a while to load the first time, certainly, as it does any time you set a new cache and it has to fetch everything from the server, but after that it should be dramatically easier to load your inventory than with older viewers.

 

I'm surprised that you say V2 doesn't work on your computer. I'm open to correction but as far as I know, anything that can run Phoenix can also run Firestorm or the official viewer, unless, maybe, it's a very old computer indeed.

I have no idea why v2 doesn't work... it's the same on my laptop and it's not old at all. my desktop isn't that old either.

I've cleared cache in Phoenix and Firestorm's cache does go into its own folder. no luck. it was all working alright until I got a new hard drive a week ago. argh....

Hmm. I would try rebooting your cable modem and see if that does any good. And check your connection and ping speed at http://www.speedtest.net/

 

You might want to check the second picture and consider taking it down if the error message is giving out RL information you don't want it to.
