Group chat issue.

I am a member of a group,  I can post in it but can't see any one's replies in it, my alt can see replies in said group fine and out of the 70 groups I'm in that is the only one I seem to be having issues with.

It's been going on since yesterday.

I've tried closing and reopening the chat window, relogging, different viewer, nothing seems to work.

I put in a ticket with LL, but still waiting on a reply.

Anyone else got a recommendation?

Bringing this subject up again.  In several, meaning about 6 out of 65 groups, I can't see what I type, or see any replies.  The group members logged in are also missing, except for myself.  But my Alts can see their chat text and replies and group members.  My alts also see my main chat messages, that I cannot see.  This is not just me.  Several others in the same groups have the same exact problem.  And then others in the group, like my Alt, see normal behavior.  

All the usual suggestions, type your invisible message in the group, close the group, log back into the group, log out, change your tag, TP to another region, reboot everything, stand on your head and drink pineapple juice, all do nothing.  

The permissions for all these groups allow entering and receiving text from others, and this has only started in the last two weeks for me and the others in these groups.

The exact same problem occurs with Firestorm or the SL Viewer.

Large groups, > 2500 members seem more susceptible.  But this is also happening in a small <100 staff group.  Group moderators and lowly basic group members are affected equally.  My Alt was just added to a problem group, and it works fine as a basic member w/ posting permissions.

Any suggestions?  SL is closed until Tuesday, and submitting a ticket after their 4 day vacation doesn't seem like the best way to get this fixed.  I'll try live chat too, so it can be escalated to a specialist who will take a week to tell me to reboot my router.  This group chat problem has been ongoing for years at some level.  This is the first time it has not corrected itself for two weeks though.

I wish I could be of help, a day or so after I posted this originally the issue seemed to have fixed itself, for the time being it hasn't reared its ugly head.

I'm not sure what causes it, but I'm leaning towards lack of chat server maintenance, as you only ever seem to see them doing maintenance on it when there's already an issue.

I submitted a ticket on May 31, 2022.  SL reply was it is a known problem and the technical specialist has forwarded my ticket information to engineers, " This is a known issue that our engineers are working hard to fix,"  

I have 11 groups with all replies blocked, and 3 of them are essential for my SL businesses. So we wait.

Group chat used to be WAY WAY worse,  these little hiccups are just that,  most of us old timers just know to wait it out, at some point it catches up and works.

I've only been in SL for 12 years, every day, and I have never seen this particular issue just "catch up".  Group glitches that last a day or so have been forever and common in SL, but my problem has not changed one bit in 3 weeks.  A friend who shares my parcel also has the same problem with the same groups that I do, yet no one else in those groups has incoming replies blocked.   What an amazing coincidence that both of us have the same issue with the same groups at the same time.   The only thing we have in common is setting Home to the same parcel.  None of our alts have this group problem with the same groups that I do.

Probably Lindens have a way to "kick" specific groups that are "blocked", to "unblock" the stuck messages. Otherwise, this would get worse and worse and worse for more and more people..like it apparently has for you!

 

Did your ticket include information on your specific groups where the messages were blocked? Or, did you just request the general issue to be fixed? I'm not suggesting you'd get a different outcome, but you never know..

Since it's been only 4 days - can't include the weekend or Monday which was a holiday - I wouldn't lose hope just yet! However, you'd think if they could just "kick it", they would have by now. I assume your missing / blocked messages didn't appear since then.

Correct.  No incoming messages in group chat whatsoever for the last 3 weeks.  This also means the groups, which I do not have blocked, never open when someone types in chat.  I am forced to keep an alt logged in to keep track of my business groups.  Of course using Firestorm, that lags my main, and eventually I will run out of memory and crash.

My group chat replies being blocked, and that of my friend also, was finally fixed after LL did the Group Chat Maintenance listed below.  The blocked replies for 13 of my groups started on May 15 and was fixed on June 9th.   Perhaps LL needs more frequent maintenance of their Group Chat database?   

Support didn't say in the reply to my ticket if this was a fix specific to just my problems, or they solved a more general issue with this occurring for others.  I filed my tickets on May 31 - June 2 and maintenance fixed things on June 9.
