Several large parcels on Zindra have been for sale for years by people in the business of buying and selling land. There is a significant cost for holding land. How can they afford to hold land for sale for long periods? Does LL give them a better deal than ordinary residents can get?

1. Because they can, and they lose nothing -- the price is so high it covers the tier they pay even for a year, and they still make a profit. Notice that they will take prime land off sale now and then just to keep the price high.

2. Their business is so high volume -- if some land doesn't sell quickly, other land does, and for a fortune, covering any loss;

3. Likely they do get a bulk discount but no one has ever proven it and the Lindens have not confirmed it. There is a bulk discount only for above one sim, which you can see on the web site, which saves you perhaps $20 or so here and there. But mainly, it's no. 1.
