When you unbox and item and it says something in Local chat, can everyone around you see it?

Hi whenever you unbox things nowadays a message will pop up in local chat like, "XXX gave you 'PRODUCT. FATPACK (unpacked)'" or "All my items are in your inventory!". Can other people see it since it's in local chat? Why is it designed so? Do people want everyone around them to know what they're unboxing?

Nope.  It's not in local chat.  It's a personal message (not an IM) , directed to you.

If you look in preferences, chat tab, it shows you what the different colored lines of chat mean and where they come from.  You can also set colors as you'd like.
