Hello, just moved to SL from VU and decided to live as the cool granny here! Are there other RP grandma or grandpa avis on SL? I mean presenting as elderly people, not “grandparents” in the I am 4572+ days old sense. Need help assembling my character who is in the 60 to 70 age range, Chinese or Mongolian descent, looks like Crazy Rich Asians actress Lisa Lu. Where do you get decent realistic-looking mature skins? Hair is not a problem since I noticed most styles come in ash and silver tones, and I do not worry much about the body since I will be super covered up anyway, but how about the head and skin? I bought a complete avatar off the marketplace but as adorable as it looks with its own AO and HUD, it is more on the cartoon side of things and the lack of customization is disappointing. Would have been perfect if it could wear a wider variety of skins, clothes, and hairstyles. Now I am experimenting with demos on the free Genus head and system body. Any suggestions? Thank you!

p.s. would love to make new friends too :-)

There's a store in marketplace and also in world that has some older avatars. Search for The Little Black Dress. Or you could go with more updated avatars. Depending on exactly how old you want it to look, the LAQ heads use a hud that can give you some wrinkles which are customizable using a slider to go from very few lines to a lot of deep wrinkles.

It is a problem, since SL has young avatars, comically old avatars like the sweet little lady, and hags.

A realistic older lady with grace and style is very hard to find.

Use a skin and layer all kinds of wrinkles and facial lines. Pick up demos from Izzie's. You can use all that says something with "BoM" or "System layers included". https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/40543

To layer many different effects, activate BoM (bakes on mesh) on the head. It is on the Cosmetics page, small text over on the right side, next to the nose on the illustration.

Use "Squiggly pink" symbols from the Izzie packs, not boxes, and add them to your avatar.

For this, you need a skin that is also made for BoM. I suggest:

The lips does not look like you want, but an added lipstick from another brand may be what you need. Lips can be edited from super pout. It is often the easiest part.

For eyebrows, you can edit them on the symbol that looks like a brown swim cap. It is the old default hair, that's only used for eyebrow adjustment these days.

Low placed eyebrows is popular in SL, lifting them up should be possible, I am not sure hard arches can be flattened.

Most skins comes with a browless version so you can use white or grey brows on an added layer. Look for something without a pronounced arch and raise them. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Eyebrows-Genus-JuliaAirSoftArch-DEMO/19948726
