It's simply an estimate.  The actual sale depends on having some resident (or collection of residents) who are willing to sell you L$ at the price you have asked.  If you set an unrealistic asking price or if there simply aren't many people looking to sell L$ at the moment, it can take a rather long time to complete the transaction.  Possibly forever.

Until you understand how currency exchanges work and have had some experience using the LindeX, it's probably a good idea to buy and sell L$ with the Market option instead of using the Best Buy option.

If you're tired of waiting, you can go to Manage $L, find your open order, and cancel it.  The money will go into your $USD Balance, and you can then use it to make another buy at the market price.
