Hey. We're the same age!

Some of those I recognize but never got into. I loved the Buffy series growing up but never got into Angel. I have sort of fallen out of DMC after 5 came out due to being busy. I also ended up letting my XIV account go dusty and need to check if it's been 45 days or not since I last logged on when I get home at the end or the week. Fried myself on savage and some other stuff.

My favorite from comics is the Punisher, with Harley Quinn a close second..

I'm much more a Trekkie than a Star Wars fan. But I did love the Kotor series and have played swtor on and off since beta.

I recently bought KOTOR again! I'm also playing the MMO for the first time as well.

I haven't figured out which one I lean more towards, because both of them have their charms.

I'm still trying to complete the last expansion, I took a break recently. What server are you on? I run on Balmung - that one big roleplay server where apparently no one knows how to run raids.

I still need to read Punisher's comic. I like Harley Quinn and I look forward to her first solo show.

My characters are on Coeurl. I had characters on Balmung on launch but flew off into the sunset.

The mmo is okay, but between their cartel chest lootboxed and their really bad plot decision's it's not enough to keep me glued. The only time I was successful in unlocking and decorating my strongholds was when I had a credit farming loop going so hard I pissed off the credit farmer selling for real money. What really pissed me off was I was a second late to log in and lost a name I had since launch and was pre sorted to rub rubat crystal. Dumb mega server. They had some neat armor designs. Gizka are also the best little critters ever.

Punisher has a lot of good ones. It's a shame that Dillon died, I liked the section he did the art for. I like the old man comic version more than Netflix's thirty year old fresh from the pain version.

Wow. I know have mixed feelings about KOTOR. What I like about FF14 is they wouldn't do that. Yeah, they make updates and changes, but not to harm folks but to improve wait time and interactions.

I'll put it on my next Marvel comic read. I always thought the Punisher was an interesting character. I never seen the live action show and the stuff I did see on the Punisher I didn't even know was related to the Punisher UNTIL I got into Marvel.

They locked all the decor into their loot boxes. About two years ago or however long it's been they introduced chance cubes, which were supposed to give you a chance at getting loot from older boxes not in rotation. Basically, ninety percent of the time you get one chance cube that gives you garbage from an older box and then the slots reserved for the new box give garbage too. E.g reputation fodder items. My rng is terrible and I waddled away from it.

My bestie likes to pop swtor open to see how the story has continued every so often. The xp events are also nice for leveling alts and trying out different paths. I found dark side Sith more appealing than dark side jedi, and light side bounty hunter over dark side bounty hunter.

I'm bias about XIV because their relocation of the servers made them within a hour of where I live. My connection is great lmao. I don't mind buying mogstation cuties every so often because it goes to their server upkeep.

FFXIV--one of the best crafting systems, hands down. >: Also, one of the prettiest MMORPGs, in my opinion, with the cutest pets and mounts. >< And they really nailed FF's concept and style as a whole I think. n.n; I especially loved playing my black mage. >< One of the most fun ways to play a caster class evar. ._.

And SWTOR...it is def a huge money grab. It's fun tho--and I think for a tab-target it's one of the better ones, especially when playing melee. But I hate the cash shop system and everything about it...even tho I spent a few monays just recently for some pretty gear. -.- But I absolutely hate that it costs me X$ to get this one piece only to have to spend upwards of 3 or 4 more X$ to unlock it universally across my account. I:

But that's me tho; I think all vanity items should always be available across all characters in an MMORPG on anyone's individual accounts. ><

The housing in the game is fantastic, tho, even if it's a little limiting with how placement works and all that. I mean, it's sorta helpful that space is locked and designated, but I guess that lack of freedom to move things around juuust right like you have in say--SL, for instance, is kinda silly given what all else you can actually do in the game.

Also, hai. =p Sorry I sorta jacked the thread there. But when peeps get into talks about some MMORPGs that I've tried, sometimes I can't help myself and butt in. ._.

I have been playing eso again. Although they're definitely greedy with majority of things coming off the market, at least the costumes and cosmetics and mounts can be used by any gender any character on the account.

I actually really hate ffxiv crafting.  Which is why my friend is the multi gillionaire and I'm not. Involved crafting systems, sure, but it's a pain in the ass having to do rotations on top of bouncing back and forth between each class to be able to craft something. I remember enjoying eq2 and daoc. And both wow and eso have braindead easy crafting.

I've never liked housing that has plugs. Like swtor. Too limiting. Tie that in with the only way to get real decor is to blow chunks on RNG or credits is... ugh. Best housing has been wildstar. I had a country barn house on a pleasant upside plot with nature, with a industrial club underneath in the bunker. I loved it. Ffxiv is okay but their item selection is pretty *****.

Sl plays hell on my wallet but at least here I can decide what I want instead of being limited to a certain selection. The freedom of choice and differing creator styles is nice.

I'm also a hoe who has to collect anything and everything cute and SL has enough of it to be the heroin to my system.

I enjoy ESO. Played it way back when it came out and I pick it up from time to time when I feel like looking like a cat person. Cause damn it, ES cat people are best cat peoples.

My absolute fav thing to do on ESO is get out of the starting zone as quick as possible, which is fairly easy to do now with the mobs adjusting to your level and there being even less of a direction to go with aside from the main quest chains. But anyway, so find one of the bigger towns and then just start the thievery guild stuff.

I love snatching me some valuables and trading them off for monays and the fun of the guards maaaaybe being after me and ohmygad am I gonna make it to the hideout entrance in time. XD

I'm normally at like, level 10 or 15 or something when I start this, but I use a lot of that and the thieves guild to level from that at whatever pace I want all while enjoying the crime and punishment aspect. X3

The housing in it always looked fun, but I never really got into it.

Crafting wise, tho, ESO is def fun too. Prolly my second fav because it is simple but a bit more engaging than WoW, I think.

FFXIV has a bit of a learning curve and the material grind gets monotonous extremely quickly, but once you've got a hang of it, it's not so bad.

Tho I can see where trying to switch from  'gather' profession to 'craft' profession gets frustrating. >< even I think that's sorta dumb and just fluff to make the game sound like it's got a bazillion more options than it does. But I guess there are players out there who do one over the other and buy/sale whatever they're not doing, which I'm sure was the point of it all--tho like most MMORPGs now, they make it just so easy to just get whatever you need on your own if you care to put the time in. ><

It kinda makes me miss the Ultima style. Limited points to specialize a character so that you were unique and necessary to someone aside your go to people.

And I totes agree that Wildstar was hands down best housing. The whole concept was fantastic and it's a real shame it didnt survive. The leveling was a bore, but general combat was engaging and character customization was fun. The races were all spin offs of generic fantasy, but they at least had cool looking twists to them.

And, can't forget the scifi space aspect--loved! ♡

EQ2 I touched briefly on but only after so much of its hype had passed and Legacy servers became a thing and there was an option to basically get a max level character and do basically nothing but enjoy the housing...which I *totally* didn't...do...n.n

You have to have a love for them grafics, tho. Without it, it can be easy to get distracted with modern MMORPGs. >_<

And SL for sure fixes a lot of my: go in, collect all the things, show off, and repeat--needs that I tend to lean more on in any system I play. U:

Also. If you're still here, OP, Red Tornado is so much better than Flash. n.n

I've had ffxiv since beta. They supposedly made crafting easier in the latest update but I'll never enjoy it. I mostly focus on pve and decorating my house. But I'm low key hoping my manor has popped by the time I get home so I can drop my sub for other stuff. DX Lack of income sucks butt right now.

I played wow from vanilla to 2014 and quit for good before the first draenor raid. Just too ugh.

Leveling in wildstar wasnt bad. Endgame was pretty *****balls though, I remember the place I needed to farm with my claws regularly had ***** rng on the route and the pugs couldn't cope.

Wildstar also had the same issue as SWTOR, theorycrafting mathematician dev's who never actually played their own game but shot down everyone who had because "their data speaks otherwise".  Lot of their classes in both games versus the content were kind of wonk.

I did not like the way gear and stuff worked in eq2 but I did love the detail they put into their dungeons and whatnot. The halloween manors is still one of my favorite things. I absolutely hate the graphics tbfh but I looked past it because of the content.

I've heard there's a new LOTR mmo coming out, so I'm curious what it will be like compared to the one that's still going. I liked farming in that game. Lmao.

I'm really torn about Wildstar, actually. I did enjoy it mostly, it was fun, but I wasn't much into the gameplay itself - aestethics, humour, general presentation was really good. The housing was awesome, I wish other MMO's would adopt to it.
I played WoW for a pretty long time, but not since classic. I have more characters on lvl 90+ than I like to admit, lol (I enjoy creating characters for roleplay, and hate deleting them). Didn't really raid, except firelands (And I'm glad I did, cause that's where I met my now boyfriend.) I'm more of an collector, transmogs, mounts, pets, characters... but I got too annoyed with many changes, particulary with the "mobscaling". Wasn't made more challenging, it just took longer because mobs just got more health. As if the game had not enough timesinks already.
I'm currently playing ESO again, but I absolutely refuse to give them money, because lol no. They can shove their predatory itemshop where the sun don't shine. (And I'm playing it only maybe once or twice a year, for like.. 2-4 weeks until I get frustrated again.) I do like the game, I like the aestethics, I find it mostly fun. But I hate how they tread their customers, and like I said, the predatory Itemshop.

Man, everyone says the FF mmo is so good, and I never played it.

It's pretty solid, given it's age. Yoshi really drug it out of the dirt it used to be pre-ARR. They moved the story on and there's references to the original story here and there. My particular favorite was the fate of Yuhelmeric. The writing is great, and the game world is a lot darker than the graphics and such make it appear to be. I enjoy fantasy worlds that have dark and depressing realities, but that's because I'm weird. If you ever get into it, I'd recommend switching it to the Japanese audio and just using the English subs. The voice acting is MUCH better. The Vault in Japanese is one of my favorite dungeons.

The only real flaws I had with it aside with getting burnt out on the endgame stuff was, it puts a lot of emphasis on being able to level up all classes on one character. But if you're chasing the gear treadmill, you are stuck behind a weekly currency cap for the items required to get the gear. The hardcore endgame only lets you one shot at a roll per stage a week. So if you lose, you're S.O.L until next week. The guild I was in had so much drama because people kept getting pissed we had a set group so we could get loot sorted faster without someone coming in and taking a piece and not showing up again, or coming in after they had cleared for the week and forfeiting one entire box of loot for the rest of the raid. It's definitely not alt friendly either, which sucks if you're like me and enjoy multiple characters with different looks and whatnot. Can't visit my home on any of my alts, can't mail items or gil between them, et cetera.

Their housing system is simultaneously great and absolute *****. You can decorate your house how you want, BUT, there's only so many houses available of each size. Once a ward fills, they don't auto-make new ones so you're left waiting until Yoshi decides to add more wards. It used to be so as long as you had the money and alts you could buy as many houses as you want and sit on them or flip them for massively increased prices. I remember on Mateus there was a couple who had about 20-something homes and refused to give any of them up because "Their neighbors might make them ugly" 🙄. They changed it to one house per world per account, but there's still a couple hoarders. I find DAOC did the neighborhood theme much better... let people pick their plot and what size of house they want and throw more wards at them so there's empty spots at any hour of the day.

They're also bound to whatever the current Playstation is. So, they dropped 3 and we got mount speed increases and no more split into two major cities as a result. Now it's tied to 4 until 5 comes out and they deem 4 too old to continue supporting. I remember Yoshi said he wanted to put the game on Switch and I am just.. ew at what limitations we'd end up with as a result. Inventory size and some other stuff are questions that are frequently met with references to how they have issues with available data space and whatnot.

My biggest peeve right now with ESO is they've just pooped out their "buy this piggie for 10 bucks and it gives you 5 extra inventory slots on one character" item and people aren't acting like that's going to be a mudslide once Zenimax realizes they can start getting away with more things down the line. SWTOR did that years ago and now look at them. Though I guess I did see it coming, since you can already sell your store currency crowns for ingame gold and then give said gold (or get more crowns) to buy clears through raids and dungeons for all the gear or achievement unlocks. Whatever gets them more $ in the end.

🤣 I was super rambly sorry.

I super dislike it when games are developed with console in mind first, because on PC that means you'll get artifically limited in some ways, due to the very real limitations consoles do have compared to PC's. Or with strange menues - I'm looking at you, Skyrim and Fallout4.

Not usre if I'd enjoy it then - I'm an absolut altaholic, heh. And I don't really do endgame stuff at all. I raided because I wanted to try it, and kept doing it for a while because the people in my guild enjoyed me very much and wanted me to come with them. And I don't have the patience to deal with once a week stuff - I tend to just not do it, because, well. I'm difficult, lol. WoW was my longest running mmo - I still miss playing it sometimes, but I know I'd nag at it after a week again.

I don't have much experience with housing, I never played DAOC, or the LOTR mmo (that also had housing) - I mainly know Wildstar and ESO. I dislike the itemlimit in ESO - that, OF COURSE get's doubled with eso+ - I think it's too little, but I know they keep it that way so more people feel the need to get eso+.

I agree about the Petpart. The main problem this, or any game has, is it's gamers letting them get away with way too much. And the absolut greed. I am at a point where I do not want any gamedev to be successfull anymore, because every dang time it starts the same crappy downward spiral. Because if they get bigger, in come the people with the suits, who do not see gamers or the game, but numbers. But that's not the worst. The worst is, when a company gets big enough to get the psychologists in.
But I'm ranting. I should not do that, lest I blow up this thread, lol.
