You don't.  There is no such thing as an "exchange."  You will have to abandon the Linden Home that you have already (pick up all your stuff, stand in the home, click World >> About Land, and then click the Abandon Land button) and then try to register for a new home.  Use the same registration process that you used before.  Read

The new Linden Homes have been in very high demand, so chances are very high that you will be offered one of the old-style homes instead, like the one you just abandoned.  So keep trying.  Be very patient and persistent. Linden Lab is releasing new homes at the rate of about one region's worth (20-25 homes) per day, and there are always people who abandon homes which then become available.  You just keep trying.

While Rolig is correct, quite a few people have done that, and are getting frustrated by an extended period of homelessness while they try to get one of the new homes.

It might be less irritating to simply wait for a month or two until the backlog has been (hopefully) reduced, and then abandon your old style home for a new one.

So, it comes down to whether to look at the down side

You know what they say about lotteries.  Even when the odds are low, somebody wins. The only way to be sure that it's not you is to not try.  Follow the threads in the Linden Homes section of the Land forum.  Yes, there are frustrated people.  There are also plenty of people each day getting a new home.  Give it a shot.😉
