How do I make a prim invisible?

They are in your inventory in the library in the textures folder. They should have "transparent" in their name.

An alternative would be using a 3rd party viewer. Many of them can set the transparency option for a prim to 100% instead of 90% or 95% as in the official viewer.

In the Library section of your inventory there are 3 textures loose in the Textures folder if you scroll down below the subfolders in there. One is called *Default Transparent Texture that one is totally clear.
