I have been looking at teen avatars and I liked one skin that went with smb avatars for teens I thought it said?

"There's also ALL ages packs which inclue a growing up timeline of skins & shapes in that tone
from toddleedoo ages 2 / 5yr - smb ages 8 / 12 / 15 yr - slink ages 18 yr sold seperate in packs." Link--> https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Meshmerized-Max-03-TEEN/9376518

Sorry in advance, the description is a little confusing to a new user like me..well at least me. If it is for a teen skin age 15, how do I buy the rest of the avatar?

You buy the $1 SMB which is : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SMB-Mesh-Body-for-Kids-Freebie/4736390

No, actually scratch that, that's kenzies attempt at a 15 year old in a Slink body (lawl)

Slink is....

$1250 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Slink-Physique-Male-Mesh-Body/7776924
$850 for the hands https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Slink-Dynamic-Hands-Male/11466185

Don't do this... it looks silly IMO. Kid head on a body with a huge barrel chest.

Use an SMB skin, or a Tweenster skin, scale the SMB or tweenster up to a 7.5:1 scale and hmmm 170cm.

So i should just use a tweenster or smb body and not slink?

Slink is very difficult to be 15yo in. About the best you can do is a swimmer build due to the thickness of the chest front to back, so a lot is also going to come down to the tribe you intend to hang out with.

It's hard to describe. Certainly try it, demo demo demo. I'd advise also looking at RL photos and comparing the looks. I think the max skin is too childish for the slink body myself. It's jarring to me, but that might be my eye. Max seems ok on 170cm tweenster teens, especially if you add normals to it by using the KJ body and some clever omega work. That's a good combination. Again, if the tribe you will hang out with looks that way.

There are also other young adult skins around, especially if your clothes will always stay on (otherwise abs become a problem). But you do need to pick your body first.

SMB taller than a 9-year-old looks creepy. If you want to do teen then to Tweenster or Tonic.

I was going to say this as well. I don't think SMB is rigged with enough collision bones to really scale up with your shape. A tall SMB kid just looks like a weird scrawny alien because I don't think they really bulk out. Newer kid bodies do a better job of expanding that age range but being better rigged.

However, you do want to think about what "teen" means. Are you talking about a 13 year old or a 17 year old? There is a world of difference between those, and I would try and pick the body closer to that age (Tweenster and friends for a young teen, or a femmy/skinnier body for an older teen). Pick the wrong body and you either look like a fantasy dwarf or a spidery monster.

Well, the only real issue is the shoulders. Here is an SMB at an adult sized 1.76 Meters.

Tweenster improved that a lot, but the shoulders will always be a failing point.

The chest also looks awkward to me. Enough to stand out as being "off".

This is a state of the art avatar from 2011 or so... so yeah, that's a fault in the Zanzo skin, even system bodies had the same problem. I took the top off to show the bad shoulders not the skin quality >.>

Look, it's a problem for 14/15. The Male bodies don't really scale down, and male teens who go into the female bodies look far far worse. Unless they are obese, teen boys don't have huge female hips.

I have had an ok result with TMP, I've had an good result with Geralt, I've had an good result with Tweenster, I've had a spectacular result with KJ... but as the KJ option uses materials, it looks like poop for anyone not in advanced lighting.

There is no one perfect solution for a 14/15 year old male. It's very much down to which tribe you wish to hang with. From there you can decide to go TMP/Geralt, or tweenster.

Never an adult female body unless you are a "femboy" and the grid doesn't need 15 year old sl-stereotypical-type femboys thanks.

Excellent point. I'll be among the first to admit then men get the "short end of the stick" when it comes to avitar-anything. At least it's better now than it was ten years ago. :)
