What works better in SL NVIDIA 1060 or 1070 Max-Q?

In the market for a new laptop, but I'm reading about NVIDIA 1070 issues here.

I'm wondering how a 1070 Max-Q or a 1060 may work on SL with an 8th gen Intel i7 CPU. I will probably get one of the thin 15 inch MSIs.

Does anybody have any feedback / experience with these GPUs?

Either will work fine.

Theres not too much in the way of GPU specific problems once you get above the cards produced before 2009 or so.

If you play other games, base your GPU decision on that (more is better and all that).

Sustained single core performance matters, so good thermals are a must and at least 16Gb of system ram (at least as an option if not out of the box) if you plan to run SL and chrome with lots of tabs.

Check reviews and make sure thermal throttling is not an issue .. if it is, then you're paying for hardware you can't actually take advantage of in a gaming setting.
