Have a friend n SL who by accident loss and dump a major folder he needs for building is there any way for a person to get that folder or inventory back and what is the process please when you spend  a lot of money in SL there should be a means to be able to do this if sims can be rolled back why not inventory

He needs to open a support case.

I don't know if they can get his items back since he has already deleted them twice (once from inventory and once from trash) but contacting Linden Lab is the only thing he can do.

Sims and avatars are very different things.  There are no CPU cores dedicated to each avatar, for example.  Every sim has a specific server it resides on while avatars exist as indices in a database.

he can try support, but not a lot of chance when he hit the button to empty trash.

spending lot of money, or a folder full off freebies, makes no difference, nor gives a special status.

It's often also wiser "your friend" comes to to forums himself. In this case it's pretty easy to bring the answer, but with more technical stuff it's a lot easier to have the person with the question responding himself.

From what I know, the inventory and database are in sync.

Sims can be rolled back because of the way LL has sims set up, which is, sims save their states periodicly and upload it to the asset server, and a cron goes through and deletes old states(usually a week old). This allows LL to go tell a sim to load a state from maybe 2 days ago.

Inventory however, does not have the state save feature, as everything you do to your inventory is permanently saved.

In theory, it is possible to restore assets to the inventory, because the inventory is a separate table that works as a pointer that says "This user has this asset in this folder", and doesn't actually have the asset in the inventory table. LL could add assets to someone's inventory, but it is really hard to prove what assets they had unless they dig out a backup of the database and search it. Keep in mind this database table is HUGE, so loading it on a support server just to see what was in there for a user mistake rather than a system glitch is unlikely.

If your friend has a back up of your inventory, it may be worth a try to use the old inventory cache to rez said assets in a cube, and put that cube in their inventory.

For future reference, I highly recommend structuring inventory like so:

Inventory
    Objects
        <Unsorted stuff>
    More
        Category 1
            <Stuff>
        Category 2
            <Stuff 2>
    Backups (DO NOT DELETE)
        Important Stuff Category 1
            <Stuff>
        Important Stuff Category 2
            <Stuff>

It may also be worth checking if you can have some of the stuff redelivered using a redelivery terminal such as CasperVend.
