Hi, Arielle.

Firestorm is probably best for taking photos, because of the FS Phototools. Phototools gives you easy access to Windlights, DoF, and graphics quality settings, plus a wealth of various other features to enhance your photos.

I take photos all the time, and they're all done using the FS tools, nothing else. You can see some on my flickr feed: https://www.flickr.com/photos/myrawildmist/

imho, FS is the best. It can take while, a long while, to learn the FS Phototools, but it's worth it.

Firestorm is my viewer of choice, for the reasons Myra described. I also usually enable "Hi-Rez Snapshot" in the advanced menu and/or choose image sizes that are much larger than my screen using the snapshot window. This gives me added latitude for post processing in Photoshop or other tools on my Mac.
